The next day, Alexander shifted to his penthouse when Eva was at the hospital. His mom came over with her housekeeper to get the penthouse cleaned up and arrange their belongings. Alexander felt relieved to be home at last, to where he belonged.
“Everything is arranged now. I’ll leave, Alex. We’ll see you later after you settle down,” said his mom.
After his mom left, Alexander received a call from Ashton.
“Bro, I wouldn’t be able to return soon. There’s an emergency here that will take some time to wrap up. I’ve got a big promotion here at the hotel and I can’t overlook my responsibilities here. Why don’t you start without me?” Alexander noted his disinterest in starting a business under the circumstances.
“Oh, that’s fine. Dad has released my funds and I can invest freely. Don’t worry, if you want you can join me anytime.”
“Thanks, bro. I will.” After he disconnected the call, Alexander called his lawyer, Thomas Goldstein, and informed him about the latest update.
“I want to complete the formalities at the earliest for my proprietorship firm, VE Global Foods, under the VE Global Group Of Companies. Once done, we need to register the brand name, Every’s. ”
“That’s amazing, Alexander! I’ll prepare the legal documents right away and call you.”
Alexander drove over to the hospital to fetch his beloved wife. Despite being busy, he didn’t let her drive knowing her delicate condition. What if she fell ill while driving? He couldn’t take the risk! Maybe after the first trimester, when her body accepted the changes better, he could appoint a trustworthy chauffeur for her.
Eva climbed into the car and planted a kiss on his lips like every day. “I missed you so much, baby!” she said breathlessly.
“Me too. Why are you breathless? Have you been running around all day?” he asked worriedly.
“No, I got over ten minutes late. So I hurried to get here in case you blast the receptionist!” she said with an eye roll.
“I’ve changed now. You have tamed my temper. So you don’t need to rush unnecessarily. I’ll wait for you,” he convinced her.
“Good to know that I could tame you with my love,” she said with a chuckle. “So where are you taking me to, my tamed hot billionaire?”
Alexander laughed at the description. “It suits me, right?”
“Yes, I’ll call you that now.”
“No. Call me baby. It suits me better.” Eva rolled her eyes, but there was an amused smile on her lips. She enjoyed their crazy banter more than anything else in the world.
“What will we call our baby, then?” she asked, her lips stretching into a wide grin.
“Eleanor, if we have a girl, and Axel, if we have a boy!” Eva gaped at him in surprise. When did he get the time to think of baby names? “Or whatever you want to call them.”
“No, I love the names. Two more months to go and we will know the baby’s gender,” she said excitedly. Alexander looked proudly on as he drove them towards the penthouse. He hadn’t expected her to like the names he had thought of.
“So what did you do the whole day?” asked Eva, watching him smile as if it were a secret.
“I’ve been very busy.” She looked around and noticed that they weren’t going to their apartment. Now, what did he have up his sleeve?
“Aren’t we going home?” she asked, looking clueless.
“Yes, we are going home, our old home.”
“To the penthouse?” she asked, looking surprised.
“Yes, mom brought Kelly over to help me with the shifting. I didn’t want to stress you unnecessarily.”
“Oh, what will we do with our apartments in Bronx?” asked Eva. She wouldn’t leave Alexander and stay there now.
“I’ll sell mine off.” Eva pondered over the idea and settled for the same solution.
“Maybe I’ll sell it as well and deposit the money in the bank.” Alexander looked satisfied with her solution and they discussed Eva’s day at the hospital as they drove home.
Alexander punched in the security code at his penthouse and the door unlocked. He smiled and picked up Eva in his arms. The sudden move made her gasp, and she grabbed hold of his shoulders to keep herself from falling.
“What are you doing, Alexander?” she asked, but relaxed to see the smile on his face.
“Welcoming my wife into my home.”
“I’ve come here before,” she pointed out.
“That was different. This is now your home for life,” he whispered, planting a kiss on her cheek. Eva kissed him back, but a tremor went down his body at her response. He kicked the door shut and strode straight into the bedroom with her.
“Alexander put me down. I need a shower first,” she protested, but he wasn’t listening at all. He had no idea how a small peck on his cheek ignited an intense need inside him. He couldn’t control himself now.
“Alexander!” she whined.
“We’ll shower together!” he whispered, placing her down inside the washroom. He held her eyes while taking off her clothes.
“Allow me, my tamed hot billionaire,” she giggled. He rolled his eyes and yanked his shirt off his body, popping the buttons off. “What did you do? Who’ll stitch them back?”
“You. Now come on, help me take off the rest,” he said impatiently and Eva complied. Stripped and totally bare, he led her into the shower cubicle and started the water. Alexander pulled her closer as the water droplets drenched them, his hungry eyes and hands roaming all over her. Pushing her hair to one side, he kissed her neck, biting into the soft, wet flesh to mark her. There was a predatory touch in everything he did, washing her off while grinding his hard, massive length against her.
“Say you’re mine, Eva.”
“I’m yours, Alexander!” she whispered, and he kissed her lingeringly. She could feel him restraining himself as he soaped her body with care. She, too, reached out to do the same to him.
“I want to pound into you here until you cry out my name.”
“Who’s stopping you, Alexander?” His eyes sparkled with excitement, yet he didn’t make any move to fulfill his urge in the shower cubicle. They washed and dried themselves and Alexander led her towards the bed. It was time for some passionate lovemaking, the way he wanted to.
He did pound into her, making her cry out his name, yet it wasn’t wild and rough. There was a gentleness in him that made it more relaxing for Eva. He always asked her if she was comfortable, if she was sore, before continuing. After the third round, they climaxed together and lay sated in each other’s arms.
“Tired?” he asked her tenderly, tucking her hair off her face.
“Yes, exhausted.”
“Rest for some time and I’ll make dinner in the meantime. He got up and wore his clothes. Planting a kiss on her forehead, he went out. Eva wore her clothes and followed him after a few minutes.
“I’d rather stay here with you,” she said, sitting on a bar stool and watching him.
“Ashton called to opt out of the partnership.”
Eva gave him a look of concern, knowing how much this partnership meant to him. “So, what will you do now?”
“I’m starting a new venture under VE Global Group Of Companies. It was dad’s idea that I start VE Global Foods. Given VE Group’s excellent reputation, it’ll be easy to get the permissions. Then I’ll register my restaurant chain brand name as Every’s! I’ll start with two outlets here in NYC. What do you think?” Eva gaped at him, amazed by his idea.
“That would be wonderful, Alexander! I’m so excited about your venture.”
“So am I. This time, I’m not short on funds, so I’ll start my dream venture.” Eva smiled, feeling proud of him. He had finally figured out what he wanted to pursue.
“Beatrix wanted me to take over Rotterdams again, but I declined. She was willing to sign off fifty percent of shares to me, but I didn’t deviate from my goal.”
“I’m proud of you, Alexander!”
“You are?” he asked with disbelief, and she nodded with a warm smile that said everything.
Alexander’s phone buzzed with an incoming call from his lawyer. “Will you handle the chicken casserole? I need to take this call.”
“Sure.”
Walking away, Alexander accepted the call eagerly. He had waited all day for some update about the evidence Mr. Fitzgerald was hunting for at Mr. Strasbourg’s house.
“Yes, Mr. Fitzgerald, have you found anything yet?” he asked eagerly.
“No, Alexander. Nothing! We’ve searched the entire place, but nothing so far. I doubt it’s at the house.”
“Then where could it be? At the office?” asked a clueless Alexander.
“Maybe. We’re going there tomorrow. The trial date has been scheduled for next week. I’m sure you’ll receive a legal letter of summon.”
“We have to search for the evidence before the trial, Mr. Fitzgerald.”
“Yes, I’m aware. I’m trying. Why don’t you join us in the search?” asked Mr. Fitzgerald.
“Tomorrow morning?” asked Alexander.
“Sure. Come down tomorrow to Mr. Strasbourg’s house at 8 o’clock in the morning.”
“I will. See you then.”
