Johnny’s face instantly darkened, “It’s too late.”

Ever since B7 called her, Rosalind had been feeling uneasy.
She was worried that the difficulty of recovering the flash drive might be too great, even for B7. Otherwise, why would he specifically call to ask about it?
From Malcolm’s previous descriptions, B7 was someone who really hated contacting others. One could even sense his impatience during the call.
“What are you thinking about?”
Ulric had just signed two contracts, and when he looked up, he saw Rosalind staring blankly at the floor-to-ceiling window.
Hearing his voice, Rosalind snapped out of her thoughts and smiled awkwardly, “Nothing much.”
Seeing she didn’t want to talk, even though Ulric was eager to ask, he ultimately held back.
“Come here.”
He called her softly, and Rosalind slowly walked over to the bedside.
“Can you stand on your legs now?” she asked.
“A bit painful, but Dr. Stewart said I should practice walking.”
As he said, Rosalind instinctively leaned closer to Ulric to check if his wound was bleeding.
He always moved around so much that it kept reopening, and the wound couldn’t heal!
“After I’m discharged, we’ll go back to the country. You move back to Easthaven Bay with the kids, okay?”
He had already planned to clear out the two guest rooms that were seldom used at Easthaven Bay, decorate them, and turn them into children’s rooms.
One for Jake, one for Floyd.
There was also a large vacant space in front of the study, which was currently just storing some antiques. He would remove those and install a play fort for the kids.
This way, they could rest in their own rooms when they wanted, and whenever they wanted to play, they could just step outside and have toys at their fingertips! After all, the house at Easthaven Bay was spacious. Previously, he thought it was just for himself, so he hadn’t planned the space much. Now that his wife and kids were back, he needed to design it well.
But Rosalind couldn’t dare to think about that. With Ulric’s injury, he could be discharged in a month would be a miracle!
By the time Ulric returned to the country, the flash drive might already be recovered.
“Don’t you like Easthaven Bay?”
Seeing Rosalind remain silent, Ulric pressed on.
She shook her head. “No, I really like it there. It’s very quiet.”
“Then move back, okay?” Ulric seemed to need a definite answer, forcing her to look into his eyes. “Move back to our home.”
“Ulric, I just remembered I forgot to take my medication today..” Rosalind made an excuse and tried to make an exit.
Ulric grabbed her wrist firmly. “Why can’t you answer this question?”
“You don’t want a future with me?”
He couldn’t think of any other reason for her hesitation.
Rosalind awkwardly smiled, “Don’t overthink it. I just feel that the future is uncertain. I don’t want to think about it in advance! Aren’t we fine now? Why worry about something so far ahead?”
“Then what role do I play in your life?” Ulric changed the question, pressing further, “Am I a classmate, an ex-husband, or a boss?”
“Of course, you’re Floyd and Jake’s dad! Why are you asking that?”
Rosalind instinctively wanted to pull away because she couldn’t handle Ulric’s questions.
“Tell me the truth. What does my dad use to threaten you?” He couldn’t think of any other reason that would make Rosalind hesitate to move back. “Is it that he said he would harm the two kids? Are you scared, so you agreed to leave me?”
Ulric turned Rosalind’s face towards him, forcing her to look him in the eyes!
“Trust me! I can protect both Floyd and Jake. You don’t need to fear that kind of threat!”
