Tilda instinctively looked around, relieved to find no other passengers looking their way.
“Can you let go? Why should I run? I didn’t do anything wrong!”
“You haven’t?” Johnny widened his eyes.
Tilda joined in, glaring at him. “What did I do wrong? Tell me!”
“You-” Johnny was so angry he couldn’t speak. He couldn’t just demand an explanation in public, could he? But then a thought flashed through his mind and he said directly, “You took my hoodie and didn’t give it back! That hoodie is worth 95, 000 dollars.”
So he bought a first-class ticket just to chase after a hoodie worth 95, 000 dollars? What was so special about that piece of clothing?
“Now, give me back my hoodie!”
“That hoodie isn’t with me. When I checked out, I handed it over to the front desk.” Tilda frowned. “Didn’t she tell you when you checked out?”
Johnny froze.
Of course not! Because he hadn’t checked out! He hadn’t planned on going back home today!
He managed to get on this flight only because he spent a lot of money and pulled some strings! Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to catch up with this woman!
“What are you waiting for? Get off the plane while it hasn’t taken off yet and go back to the hotel to find your hoodie!” Tilda became anxious. “Hurry!”
Her urgency made Johnny feel like he was only here to find his hoodie!
“I’ve already bought the plane ticket. So give me the money for it.”
“You… Mr. Chow, are you short of money?”
“I am! You insisted on taking my hoodie, so you should take responsibility.” Johnny held his ground. Finally, he found a reason and couldn’t back down.
Tilda was speechless and secretly cursed him for being an uncouth man! She wanted to argue with him a bit but found it pointless. After all, they wouldn’t know each other in the future.
“How much?”
“200, 000 dollars.” Johnny casually threw out a price.
“Why don’t you just go rob a bank?” Tilda shot back, nearly spitting in his direction. “I don’t have that! I only have ten thousand. Take it or leave it.”
Without hesitation, Johnny plopped down on her chair, the pressure of his presence bearing down on her. Tilda instinctively shrank back a bit.
“Fine, ten thousand will do.”
Tilda thought the situation wasn’t a big deal after all.
She pulled out a check, filled in the amount, and handed it to him. When he didn’t move, she urged, “Take it!”
“I don’t want it! How do I know this check is real?”
“Just give me your phone number, in case I need to find you later for the money!”
“That’s not happening,” Tilda flatly refused. “I’m not sharing any contact info with you, be it a phone number or social media account. I won’t tell you anything.”
She was firm, leaving no room for negotiation.
“Why not?” Johnny couldn’t wrap his head around it. “I didn’t do anything to you. You were the one who came onto me yesterday!”
Tilda didn’t appreciate that remark.
“But wasn’t it mutual?”
“Yeah!”
“Then after it’s over, we just go back to our lives. Isn’t that the unspoken rule we both know?”
Johnny narrowed his dark eyes, taking a deep breath. “So you think of me as just some high-end fruit, huh?”
Tilda nodded. “Exactly.”
“You’re not making any sense! So you book a first-class seat on your way back, just to scout for the next high-end fruit, is that it?!”
