Ulric felt a sense of relief watching them enter the bedroom. This vast Easthaven Bay was finally whole again.
He tidied up the dining table and returned to his own bedroom, only to find several missed calls from Cedric.
Ulric instinctively glanced towards Jake’s room, then walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, opened it, and called back.
“Mr. Walters, regarding Miss Ruell’s mother’s death, we haven’t found any substantial evidence so far,” Cedric said with a hint of frustration. “All relevant testimonies and evidence have been destroyed, including medical records and hospital surveillance. Even the bodyguards assigned to watch her mother’s door have all died of illness.”
Ulric’s fingers clenched, his knuckles becoming prominent.
“It seems they anticipated my investigation.”
“There is… one other way to determine Miss Ruell’s mother’s cause of death,” Cedric hesitated.
But before he could continue, Ulric dismissed the idea.
“If Rosalind finds out I exhumed her mother’s remains, she will never forgive me.”
“…”
“There’s no way Sirena could have done this alone.”
Ulric knew his mother must have helped!
Her again!
What Ulric feared most was not discovering Sirena’s involvement but finding out his mother played a significant role in the entire affair!
“And Mr. Walters, the owner of that warehouse we investigated has mysteriously disappeared! The DNA from a hair found in the warehouse confirmed your son was there. These people kidnapped your son.”
“Keep searching. Alive or dead, we must find them.”
“Understood, Mr. Walters.”
Hanging up the phone, Ulric looked out the window, his eyes filled with intense anger.
He immediately called his mother overseas. As soon as she answered, before she could speak, he coldly said,
“You’ve gone too far in aiding and abetting.”
“Who do you think you’re talking to?” Audrey snapped at his tone. “Ulric, you’ve really grown up. Now you’re defying your mother for a woman? Threatening your own mother?!”
Ulric rubbed his forehead, his voice icy. “Tell me the truth. How involved were you in Rosalind’s mother’s death?”
“Rosalind’s mother? Do I even know who she is? You must be crazy to blame everything on your mother!”
“I know Sirena is definitely involved, but you-it’s best if you only spoke in her favor and didn’t actually do anything for her.”
He couldn’t bear to think what it would mean if his mother were truly involved…
That would change everything!
“Stop wrongfully accusing Sirena of everything! She has devoted herself to W Group. To this day, our W Group has no negative news because of her!” Audrey shuddered at the memory of that terrifying time. “If it weren’t for Sirena back then, I would have been subjected to inhuman torture! W Group would have become a laughingstock! Our Walters family owes her!”
“Mom, what happened when you were kidnapped?”
After the incident, Audrey had been tight-lipped about the details. Ulric had tried asking several times but was always met with his mother’s sudden heart attacks.
Audrey remained silent for a long time before sighing deeply.
“My son, Sirena was dragged into a dark room by a group of men… and violated while trying to save me.”
