When the plane took off, the city lights were shining brightly.
Nelson did not take his private jet today. He wore a mask and sat in business class, busy with a computer in front of him. From Anthony’s perspective behind him, he could see Callie and her assistant sitting two rows ahead on his left.
Anthony understood that Nelson had taken this flight for her.
The flight from Ylosea to Anbusea took five hours. The surrounding passengers fell asleep due to fatigue.
Including Callie, who closed her laptop and softly instructed Eliza on some business matters before relaxing, “Wake me up if anything comes up.”
Nelson wore a string of prayer beads on his wrist. When he raised his arm, it exuded an air of wealth. However, what caught the eye was the simple ring on his ring finger.
The ring was rough, worth at most a few thousand dollars, bought from a mall. Its craftsmanship and price did not match his status, yet he wore it on his ring finger and never took it off.
Anthony saw Nelson get up, his tall figure moving through the silent cabin, carrying a blanket.
He appeared beside Callie. Eliza almost exclaimed, “Mr. Oconnor…”
Before she could finish, Nelson gestured for her to stay quiet, his gaze fixed on Callie.
Nelson draped the blanket over the sleeping Callie. His hand hovered in the air but did not move further. He seemed to hesitate, staring down for a moment before giving up, pressing a fist to his lips to suppress a cough, and returning to his seat.
When she slept, her eyelashes always trembled slightly, indicating an uneasy sleep. Her face was too pale, with faint blue veins visible under her skin.
Callie returned to Anbusea as the project leader for Oconnor Group to attend a summit. It wasn’t a grand meeting; some financial moguls attended, and the media lurked everywhere. Upon hearing that Nelson and Callie would come, they hoped to capture sensational photos. However, upon landing, they exited through separate gates and refused any interviews.
Callie did not expect Nelson to come, nor did she know they were on the same flight.
When she woke up and saw the blanket, she assumed it was from Eliza. Eliza hesitated briefly but remembered Nelson’s gesture and said nothing.
At the summit, thanks to Nelson’s generous introductions in the past, Callie knew most people and could exchange smiles and discuss business matters.
After the big shots finished speaking, it was Nelson’s turn to give a speech. Dressed in formal attire, he exuded the charm of a mature man, providing a strong sense of security and making people instinctively believe that no matter what happened, this man would protect you.
Callie sat opposite him. The camera intentionally panned over her several times. She kept her head down, pretending to take notes on paper.
Midway through the summit, she received a phone call and left early.
It was from Regan: “Everything is arranged. Sienna visits the famous temple in Anbusea every quarter.”
Callie took a private car straight to the temple.
The temple was bustling with incense and tourists.
“Amitabha, benefactor, there are already pilgrims staying here; outsiders are not allowed to disturb.” The abbot politely declined Callie’s request.
“Sorry, please inform her that Callie is here. I believe she will see me.”
