With her resolute words, it was worth it. Jaquan smirked.
The next day, at the same time as before, the bodyguards and servants changed shifts. Taking advantage of this gap, Hannah led Callie through a narrow crevice at the back of the villa. The little girl was happy to come out, bouncing around as if on a spring outing, rather than fleeing.
Callie occasionally looked around, afraid that Owen would appear again, feeling on edge.
“Callie, don’t be afraid. This is my secret hideout, and no one knows about it.”
Callie held her hand tightly. “If I leave, what will your father do if he finds out about you?”
“But I’m only five years old, I don’t have that ability,” she innocently replied.
At that moment, Callie almost felt a chill down her spine, unable to imagine that a five-year-old child could be so cunning, turning white into black…
When they reached the exit, Kieran, who had been contacted in advance, was already waiting at the intersection. Callie ran through the jungle and reminded Hannah, “Be careful when you go back!”
Hannah just asked, “I like you, will you come back? No, right?”
Callie was taken aback. She wanted to say something, but couldn’t make any promises. In the end, she didn’t say anything at all.
“Hannah, I will remember you.”
After saying that, she ran with all her might until she reached Kieran’s side. A group of people were overjoyed, “Madam!”
Callie gasped for breath and turned around, only to find that Hannah had disappeared.
“Let’s go!”
It wasn’t until they got in the car and it sped away that Callie leaned back in her seat and let out a sigh of relief, realizing that she had truly left.
“Callie, Mr. Oconnor doesn’t know that you escaped. Should we inform him?” Kieran asked happily while driving.
Thinking about everything, Callie suddenly didn’t know how to face Nelson.
What should she say?
“Forget it, let’s talk about it when we get back to Ylosea. He’s busy.”
Kieran hesitated to speak but seeing that Callie had closed her eyes to rest, he remained silent.
Their departure went smoothly all the way. At the airport, they weren’t stopped by the staff. Their speed and actions were fast; Owen probably hadn’t reacted yet.
The plane soared into the sky.
Ylosea.
This was Nelson’s eighth rejected document. His words had no warmth when spoken, “Redo it.”
Everyone looked at each other and dared not argue. In the end, they turned to Charlotte with pleading eyes.
After everyone left, Charlotte poured a cup of coffee and placed it next to the man with distinct knuckles on his hands. “It’s not even summer yet. Why are you so impatient and hot-tempered?”
Nelson’s expression was grim. Since he couldn’t contact Callie, his mood hadn’t been good, especially when Kieran called and said her fate was unknown.
In that instant, he almost immediately wanted to go to Anbusea.
But he was stopped at the airport by someone sent by the old mansion. “Sir, something’s not right! Old Mr. Oconnor suddenly felt dizzy after dinner and collapsed. He’s in the hospital!”
Nelson was torn between two choices. He tightly clenched his boarding pass and turned around with difficulty to go to the hospital.
His grandfather was at an advanced age and could pass away at any time. Facing this old man who had raised him, he couldn’t not go.
On the same day, Charlotte arrived at the hospital with him, crying incessantly.
“It’s okay. Didn’t the doctor say that Grandpa’s condition will stabilize soon?” Charlotte continued to console him while leaning down.
Nelson didn’t say anything. He just glanced at his phone several times, but there were no missed calls or messages.
Charlotte reached out and placed his hand on the table. “If you’re worried, let’s go see Grandpa today. His mental state must be much better now.”
