Chapter 743: I Will Take You Away

Jaquan seemed to understand partially, and as he turned his steps, a sudden loud noise came from inside the warehouse, something had hit the door.
He looked up.
The bodyguard immediately said, “There are rats in the warehouse.”
Jaquan immediately took a step back and said to the person beside him, “Scarface, I remember you are good at catching rats, go and take a look.”
Scarface responded, “Yes!”
He had just taken two steps when the bodyguard stopped him, “Jaquan…”
Jaquan’s face darkened, “On Owen’s turf, my words don’t count anymore, no one listens?”
The hidden sarcasm in his words made the two bodyguards tremble.
At this moment, footsteps came from behind, “Jaquan.”
He turned around and saw Sullivan approaching under an umbrella held by a dedicated person.
Jaquan lowered his eyes, “You can tell Owen that I quit this job. I can’t even enter a small warehouse.”
“Still sulking,” Sullivan observed keenly, “You are too impulsive, go back and calm down.”
Jaquan stood still.
“Owen is doing this for your own good. Always causing a fuss over a woman, what does that look like? Don’t forget, your father is still in prison, and you haven’t taken down Nelson yet.”
At this mention, Jaquan remained silent.
There was a dissatisfied noise from inside the warehouse.
“Owen’s actions have disappointed me,” Jaquan finally spoke under pressure.
Sullivan smiled and patted his shoulder, “Endure the humiliation for now.”
That was enough said; from his position, it was not appropriate to ask more.
Jaquan’s fists clenched and unclenched repeatedly. In the end, he left with Scarface. Before leaving, Scarface asked in confusion, “Aren’t we rescuing Callie?”
He did not respond.
Sullivan instructed, “Move her as soon as the weather clears.”
“Yes!”
Inside the warehouse, Callie had been listening by the door. She couldn’t hear clearly but knew Jaquan had left, and soon after, Sullivan left too, leaving only the bodyguards.
Callie felt deflated. They mentioned moving her; where to? Reuben hadn’t found her yet. Was her life really going to end in Anbusea?
She held back her tears, clutching her gun to her chest, enduring through the night.
She fell asleep and had a dream. In it, Nelson learned of her danger, eliminated all threats, came to her side, and reached out his hand. He said, “I came to save you, Callie.”
That version of Nelson seemed like a beam of light shining into this dark corner.
The feeling was too real. Callie squinted her eyes, her pupils stinging. She groggily woke up to see someone opening the warehouse door. A man walked in against the light.
“… Don’t touch me…” she murmured instinctively.
Her strength was nearly exhausted.
The tall figure rushed over but only held her tightly, “It’s okay now, Callie.”
The familiar voice brought Callie out of her dream. Realizing this was reality, she opened her eyes and saw a rugged face stained with blood and full of hostility.
“Jaquan!” Callie exclaimed in disbelief. “Didn’t you leave?”
He had clearly compromised!
Jaquan wore a black tactical jacket with a hat on his head, his expression dark. “I’m taking you away.”
He lifted Callie into his arms and walked out resolutely.
Callie’s heart pounded wildly; she couldn’t believe he had come back.
“If you take me away now, what will you do if Owen asks?”
Jaquan strode into the rainy night, shielding her in his arms. Two guards lay on the roadside; they were the bodyguards on watch.
