“Are you satisfied now?” Mike roared, almost at his wit’s end.
Jaquan withdrew his hand, closed the box, and pushed it in front of Mike. “Mr. Mack, I apologize for any offense today.”
Mike glared at him. “I’ve been in Dragonstone for so many years, and no one has ever made me bleed. Jaquan, you’re too bold. I must make you pay!”
Jaquan smiled faintly. “Go ahead, but business still needs to be done. Name your price for the goods I brought from Ylosea.”
Mr. Mack sat on the sofa with a disdainful posture. “I don’t have to do business with you.”
“Really?” Jaquan picked up another bottle of wine, causing Mr. Mack to frown instinctively. “What are you doing?”
Jaquan smiled and filled his glass with wine. “I know Dragonstone won’t do this business, but what about your sales outside? If you get caught, it won’t be enough even if you have ten lives.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, I haven’t fully gotten involved yet. If I provide this clue, what do you think will happen?”
Jaquan exchanged a glance with Sullivan.
“Anti-crime needs evidence; anti-terrorism only needs a list.”
Mike was thoroughly anxious. “Jaquan, are you threatening me to do this business? If you dare, Owen won’t let you go!”
Jaquan took a slow sip of wine and clicked his tongue. “At most, I’ll drag Owen down with me. I’m already a desperate man; I dare.”
Sullivan spoke up then. “Have you forgotten what you promised Owen?”
“I haven’t forgotten. It’s not that I don’t want to take care of him in his old age, but right now, his people aren’t giving me a way out.” Jaquan’s eyes were cold.
“Madman, you’re simply a madman!” Mike stood up with his cane, wanting to leave. Halfway through, he turned back and pointed at Callie. “A dog that bites doesn’t bark. Keeping this woman by your side will cause trouble sooner or later!”
Callie was suddenly pointed at and quickly wrapped her arm around Jaquan’s. “Jaquan, he’s scolding me again.”
She was bold enough to joke even at this moment. Jaquan sneered. “Mr. Mack, let’s pretend today’s incident never happened. I’ll personally visit another day to apologize. Mutual understanding, what do you say?”
With the conversation at this point, Mike was almost forced into a corner.
He left in a huff.
Sullivan pointed at Jaquan, frustrated beyond words. The latter remained calm. “Please handle things with Owen for me, Sullivan.”
In the end, there was nothing they could do about him. The group left in a grand manner.
Once the room was empty, Callie immediately let go of Jaquan’s hand.
“You must have learned face-changing.” He laughed angrily.
“What exactly is that batch of goods?” Callie asked seriously. She had overheard most of their conversation earlier and had an idea.
The smile on Jaquan’s face slowly disappeared. He lit a cigarette. “What do you think?”
Callie suddenly stood up and threw a cushion at him. “You’re crazy!”
Jaquan didn’t move, seemingly indifferent. “No evidence, they can’t catch me.”
Callie didn’t know what to say. She breathed heavily, always thinking that his battles with Nelson in Ylosea were one thing, but now he dared to take this step.
Jaquan took a deep drag on his cigarette and looked at her through the smoke. “Callie, you saw it. So many people are pressing on me; I have no choice.”
Callie shook her head and pressed on. “Who is this Owen you mentioned?”
“I haven’t met him; he has great power. I’ve been following him for two or three years.”
She realized they were caught in a very large whirlpool.
