Book:Married The Day We Met Published:2025-2-7

At eight o’clock in the evening, on the top floor of the Bulgari Hotel, Nelson appeared at the welcome banquet for the eldest daughter of the Ellison family.
The banquet was not crowded, but those who attended were influential figures in Ylosea. It was said that Ahmad, out of consideration for his youngest daughter’s reputation, did not invite too many people. However, judging by the status of the attendees, it was clear that Charlotte was not being slighted in the least.
In the midst of the lively banquet, Marilyn moved gracefully among the guests, warmly welcoming them and observing all the necessary courtesies.
It was evident to everyone that although Charlotte was the star of the evening, Marilyn’s presence underscored that she still held sway over the Ellison family.
Ahmad and Sienna attended together, both dressed in rare bright colors, showing their high regard for the event. Their faces glowed with happiness, appearing harmonious and in sync.
Charlotte wore a white fitted gown, looking demure and obedient as she accompanied Ahmad in socializing with the guests.
Everyone who approached offered their congratulations.
“Father, Nelson has arrived,” Marilyn noted as she glanced at the entrance and informed Ahmad.
Upon hearing this, Ahmad spotted the tall figure of Nelson approaching and extended his hand as Nelson drew nearer. “Mr. Ellison, sorry for being late late.”
Ahmad chuckled, “Not too late.” He patted Nelson’s shoulder. “Maeve, get Nelson a drink.”
A waiter stood by with a tray of drinks, ready to serve. Although Nelson could easily take a glass himself, Ahmad’s request made it clear that he should not.
Charlotte handed him a glass, her face slightly flushed. “Nelson.”
Since confirming his identity, Charlotte had reverted to calling him Nelson, just as she had in their childhood.
Nelson nodded as he accepted the drink, his demeanor cool. At that moment, Marilyn suddenly spoke up, “Nelson, why isn’t your wife here today?”
Their eyes met with underlying intentions. Nelson smirked, “It seems Jaquan is also absent today.”
Despite receiving a warning glance from Ahmad, Marilyn continued, “I don’t concern myself with his affairs. He knows what he’s doing. Is your wife the same?”
Her question was probing. Nelson chuckled lightly, “She doesn’t like such occasions. I don’t force her.”
His words were full of protection and affection for Callie. Ahmad’s face darkened instantly. Charlotte gripped the stem of her wine glass uneasily and lowered her head.
“Did you hear that, sis? Being a successful wife means having your husband protect you in public. Of course, one man isn’t enough; two or three are necessary. You have much to learn,” Marilyn said sharply, her makeup accentuating her harsh tone.
Sienna spoke sternly, “Marilyn.”
Charlotte intervened, “Thank you, Marilyn.”
Marilyn smiled and was about to leave when Nelson suddenly said, “I received news yesterday that Jaquan’s project ran into trouble. He’s currently overwhelmed and has no time to protect you. Keep your composure and don’t blame him.”
Marilyn stiffened at his retort.
Ahmad timely asked, “What kind of trouble?”
Nelson chuckled softly, “Similar to the crisis Oconnor Group faced last time. He was stabbed in the back and had his wings clipped. It will take some time for him to recover.”
This statement darkened not only Marilyn’s face but also Ahmad’s. It was clear that Nelson was retaliating.
Strangely enough, Ahmad did not show his displeasure and instead said, “Since the issue has arisen, assist Jaquan in resolving it properly. You don’t need to worry too much about family matters.”
Marilyn frowned deeply. “Father…”
“That’s enough,” Ahmad signaled.
