Nelson chuckled, “It seems you don’t know much about this ex-boyfriend of yours.”
Callie glared at him.
“The main industries in Ylosea are electronic information and biomaterials. Forty percent of that is owned by the Quinn family,” Nelson explained casually, tossing the document aside.
Callie was astonished, “One family owns forty percent of the entire city.”
Nelson snorted, “It’s nothing special.”
She laughed lightly, realizing how childish men could be in front of their rivals.
When they arrived at Paucaster Villa, Callie went inside first. Nelson didn’t hurry to get out of the car. Kieran, who was in the front seat, had already received the news, “Charlotte was being troubled by Marilyn there, it was a coincidence.”
Nelson closed his eyes to rest, speaking indifferently, “Staying in Ylosea is an eyesore. Send her back to Anbusea. You handle it.”
“Yes.”
Inside, Callie noticed that Nelson was taking a long time to get out of the car, “What are you doing?”
The coldness at the corner of his mouth disappeared as he smiled faintly and asked, “Winter is here. How about I take you skiing?”
“Skiing? Sure.” Callie was a bit excited and ran over, “Just the two of us?”
Anthony and Kieran, who were in the front seats, exchanged glances and joined in teasingly, “Oh, we want to go too.”
Callie laughed, “What’s so difficult about that? Let’s all go together.”
Nelson shot them a sharp look, wishing he could kill them both, “Always eager to join in. Have you finished your work?”
“We haven’t had a vacation in a year. Even a donkey needs a break,” Kieran muttered.
Nelson couldn’t help but laugh at that and shared a smile with Callie.
There was a place in Ylosea where it had been snowing for half a month, accumulating a thick layer of snow. Many tourists were there, and ski boards were everywhere.
Anthony was very pleased with this place, “This is the largest and most complete sports resort in the surrounding cities. Here, you can experience every imaginable and unimaginable skiing activity.”
Everywhere was white as far as the eye could see. Callie listened and said, “But I don’t know how to ski.”
“Can’t you learn?” Nelson raised an eyebrow.
Nelson was easygoing. Callie increasingly felt that as long as you didn’t flatter him or try to gain something from him, treating him like an ordinary person made him easy to get along with.
He specially arranged for a coach to explain the rules of skiing to Callie. She quickly learned and was soon gliding freely on flat ground.
Anthony clapped happily, “Madam is really smart!”
Flat ground was too unchallenging for Callie. She got bored and looked up just in time to see Nelson skiing down a high slope like a flash of lightning, landing steadily.
Callie ran over to him and said pitifully, “I want to try too.”
Nelson put his arm around her shoulders, “If you fall and cry, no one will comfort you.”
Callie immediately tried to push him away and went to find the coach in a huff, but Nelson grabbed her hand, “Do you really want to try?”
She nodded.
The coach followed Nelson and gave Callie some important tips. They only let her ski when they were sure she had remembered and mastered them.
Callie took a deep breath as she stood at the top of the slope. Looking up, she saw the ice-blue sky; the vast snowy landscape seemed like the cleanest place in the world, with her loved ones right beside her.
She lowered her head and leaned forward. Her whole body slid straight down along the ridge path. For a moment, all she could hear was the whistling wind and the cheers from nearby tourists for her bravery.
Nelson wasn’t at ease and followed her at a distance. He could control his speed, but Callie couldn’t. After speeding down rapidly, the intense thrill made her mind go blank. She lost control of her direction and fell into a snowdrift beside the path.
