Callie gave up. She lay in bed, wanting to sleep, but her headache was unbearable. She was probably running a fever, and the pain made her cry out. The next second, she restrained herself.
No matter what, she couldn’t cry. Every move she made was being monitored by Nelson. If he saw her crying, he would look down on her. Callie clutched the corner of the blanket, squeezed her eyes shut, felt the wetness of tears in her eyes, and forced herself to sleep.
In the study, Nelson coldly watched the woman tossing and turning on the screen.
Callie was always like this. Once she decided on something, she would follow through no matter what. Making her bow her head was impossible.
Today she fell into the water again, and she was pulled down. Nelson didn’t want to treat her this way. Did he not feel sorry for her? He did. But seeing her indifferent attitude towards him and their relationship made him angry.
So he hardened his heart and treated her this way.
“Mr. Oconnor, the servant who went out with Mrs. Oconnor wants to see you,” Anthony said as he entered.
The servant had learned that Callie was under house arrest. She couldn’t understand why Callie was being punished when Iyana was the culprit. Anxiously, she stood outside Nelson’s door, hoping to plead for Callie.
Nelson’s face was icy: “I won’t see her.”
…
“Are you out of your mind? Are you deliberately trying to embarrass me?”
Outside the office of the Scott Group’s executive, Marilyn rushed in, her high heels clicking on the floor. She threw her bag at the man inside.
The metal clasp scratched Jaquan’s forehead, leaving a red mark.
He didn’t flinch and calmly looked up. “Nelson personally took her away. Why are you so anxious?”
Marilyn, heavily made up, curled her red lips. “You know how to weigh the pros and cons, don’t you? Do you know that the media has already gotten hold of the story? The trending topic is all about Mr. Scott jumping into the water to save a woman, not his ex-girlfriend but Mrs. Oconnor!”
If Jaquan had saved Iyana, everything would be fine. But he saved Callie!
Marilyn’s chest heaved with jealousy and resentment.
“Nelson will issue a statement. You don’t need to worry about your title as Mrs. Scott being tarnished,” Jaquan said, raising an eyebrow as he lit a cigar and smoked indifferently.
Marilyn laughed angrily. She nodded and looked at the woman who had been kneeling for a long time. She picked up a file and threw it at her. “It’s all because of you, you wretched woman.”
Iyana was overwhelmed by Marilyn’s presence. She trembled all over and didn’t dare to look up. “Mrs. Scott, it wasn’t me. It was Callie who pulled me into the water…”
Marilyn lifted her foot, pressing her beautiful high heel against Iyana’s chin as if looking at a stray dog. “If you hadn’t done anything, would Callie have come to Scott Group to find you? Tell me, why did you target her?”
Iyana trembled even more and looked at Jaquan for help. “I… I just didn’t like her. She’s really annoying!”
Marilyn sneered and lifted her foot higher, forcing Iyana’s head back until it turned red.
“If I were you, I wouldn’t use such lowly tactics to drag everyone down,” Marilyn said contemptuously to herself. “How should I deal with you, you wretched dog?”
“Ban her,” Jaquan suddenly spoke. He extinguished his cigar and brushed off his clothes as if discussing the weather.
Iyana was shocked and fell to the ground.
