Chapter 522: Heaven and Hell

Book:Back To Thrones Published:2025-2-7

Could someone who could knock down several cultivators with just a few punches be an ordinary person? Absolutely not. At the very least, this person was at the level of a Hermit or higher. These cultivators were known to possess the strength to take on a hundred ordinary men single-handedly.
“Those who adapt to the times are wise!” Goldie Alfredson understood this principle well.
He decided to be one of those wise people, avoiding any unnecessary trouble. There was no way he was going to pick a fight with someone so obviously powerful. If he had tried, he’d likely already be sprawled on the ground.
Listening to Goldie Alfredson heap a chaotic pile of compliments onto him, coupled with his overly ingratiating gestures, Kayden frowned and asked coldly, “Who are you? Do I know you? From the way you talk, it sounds like you know who I am.”
Goldie Alfredson chuckled nervously. “No, I don’t know you, but I can tell you’re someone I shouldn’t provoke! Honestly, I’ve never liked Bruce Peters. That idiot always bullies others just because his family has some money. Sir, just say the word, and I’ll break his arms and legs for you, so he won’t cause trouble anymore.”
His slick tongue was one of Goldie’s defining traits. The latter half of his statement was pure fluff, meant to distract from the fact that he had no clue who Kayden was.
Kayden, unimpressed, ignored his flattery and said coldly, “Since you don’t know who I am, there’s no need for all this nonsense. Stand up. Fight me. Weren’t you acting arrogant just now?”
Goldie Alfredson nearly burst into tears. With a bitter expression, he pleaded, “Sir, you must be joking. How could I possibly be worthy of sparring with you? Please, show mercy. For the sake of my master, spare me!”
“My master is Sterling Harrison. Have you heard of him?”
At the mention of the name, Kayden’s thoughts drifted back to an incident involving the Vincent family a few months ago. Coleman’s old enemy, Connor Powell, had been one of Sterling Harrison’s disciples. Kayden had investigated Sterling Harrison back then but hadn’t discovered much and hadn’t paid further attention.
Now, unexpectedly, the name had surfaced again.
Perhaps more of these people would start appearing.
With that thought, Kayden nodded slightly and said, “I’ve heard of him. So, you’re Sterling Harrison’s disciple?”
Hearing this, Goldie Alfredson visibly relaxed and wiped the sweat from his brow. What a relief! This man knew his master-his master had been right. Truly capable individuals all seemed to know Sterling Harrison.
Feeling reassured, Goldie took a deep breath. Having such a remarkable master really made a difference. Everywhere he went, he seemed to run into acquaintances.
This was a fantastic feeling.
With his spirits lifted, Goldie cupped his hands respectfully and said, “Since you know my master, that’s wonderful! Please, for his sake, let me go. Leave your name, and I’ll make sure my master repays you in the future. Don’t worry-my master has plenty of rare and valuable cultivation medicines.”
Kayden nodded slightly and then asked, “Do you know Connor Powell?”
Goldie’s eyes lit up in surprise. He quickly stood up from the ground and exclaimed, “Yes, yes! Sir, you know Connor? I can’t believe I’ve run into someone on the same side. This is great! Connor and I both trained under our master.”
This man not only knew his master but also Connor-he must be an old acquaintance!
Feeling completely at ease, Goldie relaxed entirely. He sighed deeply and said with some emotion, “It’s a pity. Three months ago, Connor left the mountains, saying he was going to settle a grudge. After that, we never heard from him again.
“Our trip down the mountain this time isn’t just about completing a mission-we’re also looking for him. My master suspects something happened to him. That’s why we’re here: to figure out where he is. As for my master’s temper, I’m sure you know-he won’t tolerate anyone harming his disciples.”
“By the way, sir, have you seen him?”
Kayden nodded confidently and said, “Yes, of course I’ve seen him. Three months ago, I killed him.”
Boom!
It felt like a thunderclap had struck Goldie Alfredson. He stood there, stunned, as if the world had collapsed around him.
His legs gave out, and he dropped to his knees once more.
He had thought he’d found a friend, only to discover he was face-to-face with the person who had killed Connor.
What was this? One moment in heaven, the next in hell?
Just moments ago, he’d been walking on clouds, and now he’d fallen into the abyss.
Kayden, unfazed, looked down at him and said indifferently, “There’s no need to be so nervous. I won’t harm you. But I do have a few questions for you.”
“First, who sent you, and why are you here?”
“Second, what organization do you belong to? Who do you work for?”
“Third, has your master already captured Coleman and his granddaughter?”
Goldie’s teeth chattered as his body trembled uncontrollably. The air around him seemed to have grown colder.
“I-I-I… I don’t know! My master gives the orders, and I just follow them. I honestly don’t know anything!”
“Fine,” Kayden said coldly. “If you don’t know anything, then there’s no reason for you to stay alive. You can die now.”
With that, Kayden stepped forward, raising his hand to strike him down.
To Kayden, someone who didn’t know anything was useless. In his eyes, there was no difference between the living and the dead when it came to useless individuals. If they wouldn’t speak, they might as well die.
In this world, no one had the right to bargain with him.
“Wait! Please don’t!” Goldie Alfredson frantically waved his hands and begged, “I really don’t know anything. But I can contact my master and take you to him! Please, I’m begging you, spare me!”
Kayden paused, lowering his hand. “Fine. I’ll give you this chance. But don’t try any tricks. If you do, your fate will be worse than death.”
“I understand! I understand!” Goldie nodded repeatedly and quickly pulled out his phone. “I’ll call my master right now! Right now!”
Kayden stepped back, his demeanor calm, as if waiting for promising news.
Goldie Alfredson dialed the phone and, after a moment, turned to Kayden. “I’ve got it. My master is in Hiphia.”
Hiphia. As expected.
If Sterling Harrison was in Hiphia, then Coleman and Erika had most likely been taken by him as well.
Kayden nodded thoughtfully. “Alright. If he’s in Hiphia, then we’ll head there to find him.”
As the words left his mouth, he suddenly turned his gaze back to Goldie. “Hey, where do you think you’re going?”
