Chapter 435: Offer One Hundred Million for This Pill!

Book:Back To Thrones Published:2025-2-7

To Kayden, this was the only thing that mattered right now. Every second he spent on these trifles now was a complete waste of time!
Money? He had more than he could ever spend. Fame? It held no appeal. And all those things ordinary people desperately yearned for? He already had them and found them utterly meaningless.
His status and influence already placed him at the pinnacle of Seclela. To the enemies at the borders, he was a living nightmare. He possessed everything one could possibly imagine. Nobel Prizes in medicine, supreme status, unrivaled achievements… none of it interested him in the slightest.
For Kayden, the top priority right now was finding Wood Faulkner and uncovering the hidden claws of the organization pulling the strings behind the scenes.
But his nonchalant words left the doctors in the room speechless.
“Not interested in these things?”
Who on earth wasn’t interested in fame, fortune, or power? What was the point of living if one wasn’t driven by these pursuits?
Money makes the world go round. Wasn’t that the truth?
Every living person has ambitions. No one could resist the allure of fame, recognition, and influence.
Kayden’s disinterest couldn’t possibly be genuine. But it had to be that he was still young and ignorant. He simply hadn’t yet reached the stage of life where the significance of fame and wealth truly sank in.
Sure, he might feel untethered and carefree for now. But in the years to come, wouldn’t he regret missing out on all that life could offer?
After all, science was advancing, medicine was progressing, and it was just a matter of time before someone cracked the code to defeat cancer. Whoever achieved that would surely receive endless accolades, unimaginable wealth, and boundless resources.
The thought alone made Dr. Adler break into a panic. Leaning forward with a tense expression, he urgently pleaded, “Grand Master, you’re still young, and perhaps fame and fortune don’t mean much to you right now. But some people wouldn’t get such an opportunity even after lifetimes of effort! All you have to do is nod. If I announce today’s events to the public and you reveal the formula, you’ll surely gain both fame and fortune!”
Kayden’s brows furrowed in irritation. This fusty old man… Why did he insist on believing that Kayden cared about their so-called fame and fortune?
For them, fame and fortune were treasures beyond compare, but to Kayden, they were nothing more than worthless trinkets! His expression remained as cold as ever as he said, “Enough. I don’t want to repeat myself. I’m not interested in any of this.”
He spoke with such casual indifference as though the very idea of fame or recognition were beneath him. Could it really be that he wasn’t interested in the Nobel Prize in Medicine?
This was the prestigious award that even the doctors in the room could only dream of. They had spent their entire lives devoted to the study of medicine. And for Kayden, such achievement was within arm’s reach, practically at his fingertips, but he dismissed it as if it were a triviality!
Dr. Adler stood there, momentarily stunned. His mind struggled to process Kayden’s words. Before he could collect himself, Kayden’s voice cut through the air again. “Dr. Adler, I just want to know, can we leave now?”
Dr. Adler let out a long sigh, looking almost helpless as he met Kayden’s gaze. His face showed clear regret, but he could do nothing more than let out a resigned sigh. Then, he nodded. “According to the reports, you’re free to go.”
“Good. Let’s go.” With that, Kayden helped support Felicity’s mother, and the three of them headed toward the door. But just as they reached the door, it suddenly occurred to Kayden something.
Turning, he said in a commanding tone, “The one hundred thousand dollars for the surgery, refund it to the original bank card. And as for what happened here today, I don’t want anyone spreading a word of it.”
His tone was firm, final, and left no room for argument. He was about to turn away when suddenly, Amelia snapped back to reality and called out to him. “Hey, you!”
Kayden’s pace came to a halt. He turned to face Amelia. “What is it? Do you want to kneel and offer your apology now?” he asked with a mocking tone. “I already told you that it’s too late. You’ve lost your chance to kneel.”
Amelia quickly shook her head. “No, no! It’s not that! I just wanted to ask, do you still have that kind of black pill?”
Amelia had witnessed with her own eyes how Kayden cured cancer, right before her. She trusted what she had seen, and more than that, she believed that this man truly had the ability to perform miracles.
Kayden raised an eyebrow and let out a casual, nonchalant snort before asking, “What’s this? Are you interested in my poison?”
“No, no, no!” Amelia immediately broke into a nervous, forced smile, and her face flushed with embarrassment. “I was wrong earlier! I didn’t recognize your true abilities, sir! If you still have any medicine left, I wonder if it could… possibly help my father-”
“Impossible,” Kayden interrupted her sharply. His words were delivered with such finality that there was no room for argument. “I won’t save your father. Don’t even think for a second that I’ll help him. Don’t forget what you said earlier. We live in entirely different worlds. You and your family live in a realm of privilege, high above the rest. How could my medicine ever be worthy of being offered to your father?”
The sting of his words hit Amelia like a slap across the face, and her cheeks flushed a deep red. Just moments ago, she had indeed said that Kayden and she belonged to different worlds.
“By the way, I don’t mind telling you, I still have two pills left.”
With a smooth motion, he reached into his pocket, pulling out the small bottle and giving it a gentle shake. The pills inside collided like pebbles in a jar, making a clink-clink-clink sound. As he did so, a mocking smirk twisted on his lips.
That cruel smile twisted Amelia’s insides, and her heart sank. A bitter sadness clutched at her chest, and for a moment, she felt as if she had been struck by an invisible blow.
She bit her lip, struggling to find the words to defend herself, but someone stopped her.
Standing to the side, Colin, who had been quietly observing, could no longer stand by. He stepped forward.
With deep regret and a bow of respect, he apologized to Kayden. “Sir, my sister spoke out of turn and unintentionally offended you. Please, allow me to apologize on her behalf. I beg you to forgive her rashness and disregard her impetuousness.”
As he spoke, he humbly made a bow, bending his body at a full ninety degrees.
“No need. I’m not interested in your apology,” Kayden answered coldly. With one final motion, he slipped the bottle back into his pocket.
Cold sweat dripped down Colin’s face as he pleaded, “Sir, every mistake, every wrong, it’s all on us! Please, I beg you, consider our genuine sincerity and sell us just one pill.”
“I’ll offer thirty million. Thirty million for one pill. Will that work?”
Thirty million!
The moment those words left his lips, the doctors in the room were struck dumb. For them, it was an unimaginable fortune.
Who in this room had ever seen thirty million? The doctors here were ordinary hospital staff, earning their monthly salaries. Maybe, if they were lucky, they could earn half a million a year. Thirty million was beyond their wildest dreams. It’s an unreachable number that seemed to belong to a different world.
Felicity’s heart skipped a beat. Thirty million? The pill her mother had just taken was worth thirty million?
Heavens!
Felicity didn’t even know how to begin thanking Kayden. The shock was overwhelming.
But for Kayden, thirty million was nothing, nothing at all. It was mere the spare change in his eyes!
If anything, the offer seemed almost insulting. He let out a soft, disdainful chuckle and casually waved it off. “Sorry, I’m not in need of money.”
Not in need of money!
The words came out with such effortless arrogance as though money meant nothing to him.
Without another word, Kayden took Felicity’s hand and turned, heading straight for the door.
From behind them, Colin’s voice broke into a panicked shout, “Fifty million, sir! I’ll offer fifty million for just one pill!”
“One hundred million! One hundred million!” he cried, desperation thick in his voice.
But Kayden didn’t even acknowledge the calls. He was already pulling Felicity and her mother out of the room, leaving the chaos and stunned faces far behind them.
