Victor and Matthew are sitting in the chair, waiting. Their backs lean on the chair, waiting for the doctor to walk out. Meanwhile, Damian is sitting opposite them, his head on his hands.
His leg couldn’t stop bouncing. He couldn’t wait any longer. This waiting is torturing him. Celestia had just arrived and saw the gloomy air.
“Nothing yet?” She softly asks.
“No. It has been an hour…” Matthew sighs.
Hearing that makes Celestia grow worried. She glanced at Damian who didn’t say anything. This is the first time she saw Damian like this.
“He has been like that since we arrived,” Matthew whispers.
“Of course he is. Everyone is worried…” she pushed her hair back.
Melody is like sunshine in their lives-the only one who brightens up their day with her smile. Losing their boss lady will change everything in their lives.
“Is everyone safe?” Damian finally speaks up.
“Some of our men got injured but that’s nothing we have to worry about,” Celestia answers.
“Send a nurse or doctor to them. Their wounds need to be treated,” he demands. No matter what happened, he still worried about his mafia family.
Even some of them get on his nerves.
Celestia smiles at his concern, “You don’t have to worry about that, sir. They said you need to focus on ma’am first.”
“They even worried about that more than themselves.”
Damian shakes his head slightly. He knows all of his members attached to his wife already.
The emergency door opens and reveals a doctor and a nurse. All of them stand up immediately, their expressions hopeful.
“Are all of you related to Mrs. Angelo?” The doctor asks.
“We are,” Victor answers.
“Can I know which one is the husband?” The doctor asks.
Damian steps up, “I am. How is my wife?”
“Thank goodness, we managed to save her right on time. The bullets were deeper than we thought,” the doctor explains. “So, right now she’s stable. She is just still unconscious.”
Just hearing that from the doctor made Damian let out a relieved breath. It felt like the heavy stuff in his chest was lifted off right away.
“Just one thing…” the doctor continues.
They look at him with frowns.
“What is it?” Damian asks.
“I believe everyone knows Melody is pregnant, isn’t it?” He asks. They give him a slight nod. “Listen, we try our best-like really try.”
The doctor exchanges a look with the nurse, who has a sad expression. Damian furrows his eyebrows. His heart is beating so fast that he can tell what this doctor is trying to say. But he tries to stay positive.
“We did everything already. It just…” the doctor hesitated to speak since he didn’t know how Damian would react.
“Just spill it out,” Matthew frowns.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Angelo. We lost the baby…” he said in a shaky voice.
The news hit Damian like a ton of bricks. He expected this, but why does it still hurt him a lot? The baby that he and Melody have been waiting for has gone. And guess what? All of this is his fault.
His hands trembling, trying to control the emotion he got. Everyone exchanged looks in shock and sad.
“Mrs. Melody lost the baby. We did everything to save the baby but sadly, the bullet hit the baby right through it,” the doctor explains.
Damian stands there just listen to his explanation.
“Um…if you guys want to check on her, you can go in. I’m sorry for your loss. Excuse me…”
The doctor bowed his head along with the nurse and walked away. It is such a heartbreak when you have to announce someone lost their lives to the relatives.
Celestia is about to open the door but Victor’s question stops her action.
“Where are you going, Dam?” Victor asks seeing Damian turn away and about to walk away.
“I got something to do,” he said, deadpan.
“Don’t you want to meet Melody first?” Celestia added.
Damian paused for a moment, “I will…not now. Watch her out for me.”
By that, he walks away leaving them without letting them reply. Victor sighs knowing how much this hit Damian.
Damian gets inside the car and shuts the door. He stays in the position for a moment before his rage takes over him. He hit the steering and yelled, let everything out. Tears dripped on her cheeks.
He lost the baby.
He made Melody lose the baby.
The thing that special for both of them and now, it’s gone.
“FUCK!!!” He yells out.
He couldn’t think of anything right now instead of rage and sadness. His hands gripping the steering tightly.
Mrs. Gabriella is in the kitchen, washing dishes while listening to some beat music. Her hips moved to follow the beat. The kitchen fills with loud music and it sounds like she living in a club.
The guards just enjoy the song she put on.
“Dear! Do you see my blazer!?” Mr. Flavio yells.
“Coming, honey!!” She answers.
She tries to finish her work first. Suddenly, something felt wrong. She is about to put away the last dishes but it slips off her hands. The sounds of broken plates echo in the kitchen.
“Oh my fishcake,” she sighs and turns off the music before crouching down.
Mrs. Gabriella couldn’t lie but her heart felt uneasy. As if something is happening right now. Something told her to call Damian and Melody right away.
“I heard something-dear! Are you okay?” Mr. Flavio rushes towards his wife. “How did you break this? I told you a lot of times. Don’t dance while you are doing the task.”
He helps her wife pick up the broken pieces. At the same time, he notices something is off about his wife. She looks absentmindedly.
“Dear, are you okay?” He asks again.
“Yeah…I’m fine,” she answers. “I need to call Damian.”
Mr. Flavio furrows his eyebrows, “What? Why so sudden?”
“Just…feel like to,” she takes out her phone and immediately calls her son.
Flavio looked at his wife with confusion. He knew his wife was the weird one and always acted stupid, but this time, it was different.
She put the phone on her ear as it rang. The expression on her face looks uncomfortable as if something is happening right now. Flavio just picked up the broken pieces of the plates.
Gabriella grunts, “Why this dumb boy didn’t pick up my call!?”
“Damian probably is busy right now, dear. You know he needs to handle a lot of companies and his clan also,” Flavio sighs.
“No, he always picks up when I call him,” she frowns.
“Maybe he’s in a meeting right now, who knows?” her husband shrugs. “Come on, leave our son alone for a moment. He is already an adult and almost got into his thirty, dear.”
Gabriella furrows her eyebrows even more, staring at the phone, “But…I felt something was wrong…”
“It’s just your feeling messing up with you,” he rolls his eyes.
She was about to give it a try one more time but before she did, Flavio took the phone from her hand.
“Dear, how about we go chill on the couch and have a movie date? It’s much better than bothering our son,” Flavio speaks in a gentle tone.
He caresses her hair before getting up and walking away. Gabriella sighed, couldn’t shake the feeling of how uneasy she was.
