ANNABELLA’S POV
” Where is everyone?” I asked as I dropped down the stairs and pulled a chair for myself by the dining table. I wasn’t expecting to have the room to myself or eat alone as those days seemed to be long gone.
” Alpha Roman already left for his pack duties,” Madeline’s voice rang from the kitchen, which I already knew. He wasn’t beside me when I woke up and it was easy to guess where he was, not like it was his first time disappearing after a night.” And as for Miss Juliet, she has already moved out.” she added and I stopped steering the cup of coffee before me.” She moved out?” as she moved out from the pack?
I turned my head to my back, my eyes fixed on the entrance of the kitchen with a confused expression on my face.” Did she leave the pack?” I inquired, a part of me hoped she left the pack for good because ever since I laid my eyes on her, I have never had a good feeling about her.
Madeline walked out of the kitchen with a tray of cookies and a small smile plastered on her face.” You don’t have to worry about Miss Juliet, she is just a few miles away from here.” she said, leaving three sliced bread on the table beside me. Was I even worried about her?
If anything I was sure I was disappointed.
I took a sip of my tea and licked my lips afterward. ‘ Aren’t you?’ Eve teased, she knew how I felt about Juliet and I wasn’t the only one with that feeling.
‘ I guess I’m trying to be.’ for some reason, I didn’t like her. ‘ And you don’t have to force yourself to like her.’ She giggled and I rolled my eyes.
” What I mean is she moved into the mansion.” She explained, and I wondered why, all of a sudden, the mansion wasn’t even in good condition and there was no one living there. What was she trying to achieve?
” Doctor Carolina’s advice,” Madeline’s voice cut through my thoughts and I sighed.
It was her, why didn’t I think about it? ” She believes she will regain her memory faster if she stays in a familiar place with someone familiar by her side.” I frowned at that, raising my head to look at Madeline.
What did she mean by someone familiar by her side?” Is Roman going to live there with her?” My heart stayed quiet in my chest for a few seconds before it started to beat again.
” You don’t have to worry, Alpha Roman wouldn’t leave your side for anything,” Madeline assured and as much as I wanted to believe her, I couldn’t get rid of the thought that Juliet was planning something and I had this dreaded feeling that whatever she was planning wasn’t going to go well with me. I didn’t know, maybe I was overthinking things, not like I liked her or anything like that.
” Alpha Roman had them clean the place and did a few touches to bring it back to life.” She smiled at me before walking back to the kitchen.
” I will take care of something real quick, I will be right back.” She strode out of the kitchen once again without her apron and I nodded.
” Alpha Roman said you need enough rest.” She reminded before shutting the door behind her.” Did Roman agree for her to live in the mansion?” I felt myself slipping into a deep thought but after a few seconds, I thought it was a good thing that she was there even though I didn’t feel good about it.
I grabbed a slice of bread and took a huge bit before carrying the tea to my lips.
After breakfast, I went back to my room to get ready for school, but when I went out to meet Zachery who was in charge of taking me to school, he told me Roman had given the orders about me resting and taking the day off.
I wasn’t happy with the way Zackery sounded because he was taken Roman’s words to it, and I couldn’t blame him; the fuck was doing what his alpha had instructed.
” Fine, I will get there by myself.”
” Roman is going to be pissed.” He yelled behind me but ignored his shit.
The early morning air was swaying my hair as I had a few pack members my way with some recognizing and a few passing by without looking at me.
I wasn’t bothered because I was used to being ignored.
Before I met Roman, I was never regarded in the shadow pack even though I was the daughter of the alpha. I had alpha blood running through my grin but I was treated accordingly or given the respect needed.
” Luna Bella.” A little girl bumped into me on the road, pulling me out of my painful thoughts.
I stared around to make sure she wasn’t being chased.” Hey, are you okay?” I asked and she shook her head. ” What is wrong with you?” She raised her head to look up at me with her round doll eyes before stepping back.” I don’t want to go back home, can you hide me?” Her girly childish voice made me smile.
” Why don’t you want to go back home, did you do something bad?” She hugged my legs, and I glared around for any sign of her parents, but she seemed to be alone.
” Do you want to talk about it?” I asked and she still shook her head.” How about I take you home instead?” I suggested and she nodded with a smile.
” Okay, do you recall where your house is?” I asked and she pointed in the right direction.” Let’s get you home then.” I grabbed her hand and we crossed the busy road.
” What is your name and how did you know my name?” Roman hadn’t yet introduced me to his pack, so how did this little girl know I was her alpha mate.” I’m Daisy, and alpha Roman told me your name, ” she said, and I frowned. ” He said you are pretty and I think he was right.” she giggled.” Did Alpha Roman tell you my name?” I wasn’t sure if I heard her correctly but I became confused when she nodded vigorously.
” He said you are stubborn and wouldn’t listen to him.” She added, and just then, his scent swept me over, and I stopped in my tracks, wondering why I was sensing him, but I blushed the thought off and continued; it was his pack, after all.
” Where is your house, Daisy?” We walked for about five minutes and it didn’t seem like we were stopping soon.
Daisy suddenly pulled her hand from my grip.” I will go home by myself, bye-bye Luna Bella.” She stepped back and waved at me before running off in the other direction.
” What…” my lips hung open when I saw the familiar figure coming towards me from the same direction Daisy ran off to.
How didn’t I think of this?
” You don’t look surprised.” He slipped his big palm around mine as he stepped closer to me. ” I am.” I whispered feeling his nose against mine.” I told you to rest.” I shut my eyes as his breath fanned my face.” Who is that kid?” I asked,
” Daisy?”
” A friend.” I narrowed my eyes on him, did he just call that little girl ‘ a friend?’ Wow, what a day to remember.
“What punishment should I give you?” he asked, and I pushed my eyes open.” I didn’t do anything wrong.” I protested and he chuckled, his eyes moving away from me for barely a second before they settled back on me.” I just didn’t want to miss school.” I replied and he smiled.” I made it clear that you aren’t going to school today.”
” Is this really about yesterday?” I had a feeling it wasn’t about the rogue attack.
” Not entirely.” His reply left me speechless.” Are you jealous?” The words slipped out of my mouth before I could swallow it back but I was curious to know why he was acting this way all of the sudden.” Is it obvious?” She pulled me close to him by my waist, his dark blue eyes stuck on my face.” I don’t want him close to you.” he whispered and I couldn’t believe we were going back to this.” Hens and are just friends,” I told him, but the blank look on his face didn’t tell me anything, and I wasn’t sure if he believed me. ” He is clean.” I frowned, wondering what he meant.
If he believed Hens was clean then what was he dragging at?
‘ Wade Jackson ‘ Eve scoffed as I could imagine her winging her tail.
Was all this about Wade?
” I can’t believe this.” I stepped away from him.” I’m getting late for school.” I said and turned to walk away.
It took me a few steps to get swept off my feet like I weighed nothing.
