Chapter 981: Children should not be exposed to second-hand smoke

“Paige…” Kevin looked at her with concern, wishing he could stand up right now, as the blood on his lips increased.
“Leonard, take care of yourself,” the butler said nervously.
Amidst the light snow, Enrico walked up to Paige with a gun in his hand. No one dared to move, and everyone looked on with mixed feelings.
“Go,” Enrico said coldly, pointing the gun at Paige.
“Okay,”
Paige said without objection. She looked at the surrounding walls. Her people had been keeping a close eye on the situation, waiting for her order to charge forward and restrain the man in front of her.
But suddenly she didn’t want to do it anymore.
The Duplicat City of today was no longer the Duplicat City of a few days ago. She was in control of the situation, so why did she still want so badly to capture him and imprison him…
As long as he didn’t hurt anyone, he could do whatever he wanted. Even if he was using JT’s memories, so what?
Even Gabriel understood this, but she didn’t.
Paige stared at the man in front of her. He had been hiding out in the city for the past two days, probably not sleeping or eating well. His contours looked deeper, and there were bloodshot circles under the light-colored glasses. His short hair was a little messy.
She shifted her body to the side and stepped aside. Enrico’s gaze fell, thinking she was going to make a move, but Paige just looked up at Kevin inside, her gaze falling on his blood-stained lips, surprised and guilty.
“I’m sorry,” she said.
All the subtle entanglements between the two were interpreted as clean by this apology, leaving no room for speculation.
“You never wanted to do anything serious to him.”
What is there about a person like this that makes her soft-hearted so many times?
Kevin gave a bitter smile, his eyes full of sadness, “Just like you never wanted to marry me, right?”
He thought that he could coax her into marrying him first, and then let her understand that JT was not someone she could entrust her life to. But in the end…
Paige had never seen Kevin look so miserable before, and perhaps he really had completely immersed himself in the character of Leonard.
She moved her lips, and Enrico’s almost mean voice sounded in her ear, “What are you talking nonsense about? If you don’t want to die, just leave.”
“…”
Paige didn’t really know what else to say to Kevin. After all, this dream was about to end. All the people from the big and small families were present, and Justin’s side had already arrived.
When she woke up, Kevin could be himself again and not have to wallow in this century-old dream.
Thinking this, she turned around and walked out, not hesitating at all.
Enrico followed her with a gun in his hand, his pace a little sluggish.
One black, one white, stepping on the red carpet, they walked out the front door, leaving the joyous celebration and the absurdity behind.
Alonso and Blanca stood on either side of the courtyard gate. Alonso almost wanted to do something, but he was given a cool look by Paige and had to shrink back, watching them in silence.
Once they stepped out of the courtyard gate, Jaden was still hugging the tree and vomiting, while Gabriel had already finished vomiting and was standing aside, looking at Jaden with disgust on his face, “You’re so weak…”
He’s already finished vomiting.
“You, come with me.”
An indifferent voice came.
Jaden froze, unable to even vomit, and hurriedly turned around, wiping his mouth before standing up straight, “Enrico… JT! Let go of my lady!”
“…”
Enrico stood behind Paige, looked at Jaden with a look of pity, pointed the gun at Gabriel, and said, “Get in the car.”
“…”
Gabriel was a little confused, then obediently walked forward, opened the car door, and sat in the car.
Why is Daddy pointing a gun at Mommy?
Jaden stood by the tree, looking on in amazement. What was going on? Hadn’t the trap been set? Why hadn’t the lady done anything?
Shouldn’t they have caught Mr. Gustin first?
Who had changed the plan?
Under the threat of the gun, Paige opened the driver’s door. As she looked down, she saw a small porcelain bottle sitting on the seat.
It looked familiar.
It’s some kind of smoke bomb.
She looked in the back seat and Gabriel winked at her. Go for it, Mommy, charm Daddy! Then you won’t have to cry! You can do it!
Paige sat silently in the driver’s seat, placed the porcelain bottle silently at her feet, and started the car.
Enrico got into the passenger seat from the side and looked down at the gun in his hands.
“Where are we going?” Paige asked. ‘If you’re taking me to see the eight hostages, you can forget it, they’ve already been released.’
Enrico didn’t seem annoyed by this, just snorted, ‘Just drive, don’t stop unless I tell you to.’
Paige started the car and drove off. Enrico seemed to think that she couldn’t threaten him while driving, so he put the gun away and put his arm casually on the window, looking at the road ahead.
The cobblestone road was not easy to drive on, being somewhat uneven. Fortunately, Paige was not flying this time, so Gabriel was not thrown around.
He poked his head out from the back seat, squeezed between Enrico and Paige, and said innocently, “Where are we going?”
Strange, why didn’t mommy use the sleeping bottle?
Did she not notice?
The two didn’t respond to him, so Gabriel could only keep talking while looking for the porcelain bottle, “Wow, the trees in front are so beautiful, so many red ribbons…”
“Pop!”
He got a slap on the forehead.
Enrico slapped him back, “Shut up.”
Paige couldn’t help but look over, seeing Gabriel’s white face, his forehead wasn’t even red, obviously he didn’t use much force, so she couldn’t help but look at Enrico.
“What are you looking at, afraid I’ll kill your son?” Enrico snorted.
“…”
Paige looked at the pair of glasses on his nose bridge, looked back silently, and continued driving forward.
She wasn’t sure what he was thinking at the moment, or what he was going to do to them.
But strangely, she wasn’t panicking. Not only that, she felt particularly at ease. She was driving, he was in the car, Gabriel was in the car, and it seemed like that was enough…
Who cares what happens next.
The car is driving on an unmanned road, and every now and then you can see a tree by the wall, covered in red silk, which is especially bright in the snow.
Enrico looks at it, suddenly opens the window, takes a cigarette out of his mouth, lights it with a match in one hand, and takes a deep drag.
With the window open, the smell of tobacco doesn’t stay in the car.
But Gabriel tilted his little head and looked over, saying in a serious tone, “Children shouldn’t be exposed to second-hand smoke.”
“Gabriel,” Paige said lightly, telling him not to say anything.
Enrico didn’t say anything, and without changing his expression, he pinched the cigarette and flicked the ash out the window. After flicking the ash, he didn’t take the cigarette back, but threw it away directly.
The scarlet light bounced on the wall and fell to the ground.
Paige didn’t notice his actions and just drove on, passing trees covered in red ribbons.
