“Sister-”
Paige was called back to reality and turned her head to see Kelsey skipping over to her.
“Sister, why aren’t you sleeping? Dr. Clinton said that you need sleep the most right now,” Kelsey said as she knelt down next to her, “You don’t need to worry about the wedding tomorrow, we are doing what needs to be done and we will make sure everything is perfect.”
As soon as her brother-in-law set foot within the Folsom Group, they caught him.
“I can’t sleep.”
Even after taking sleeping pills, she couldn’t sleep. Her head was groggy, but she felt no sleepiness at all.
She missed Enrico.
She couldn’t sleep because she missed him.
Paige put the book on hypnosis down, looked down at Kelsey’s innocent face, and asked lightly, “You like Nick?”
Kelsey put her hand on her face and smiled shyly, “Yes, I do. Every time he looks at me seriously, my heart pounds.”
If that’s not love, she didn’t know what it was.
“You know, he’s not Nick right now,” Paige said, and snowflakes fell on her shoulders.
“But didn’t you say that the current Landon is the past Nick?”
Kelsey said with a smile. If that was the case, what was the difference? Even if Nick wasn’t as stable as he used to be, he was still Nick.
“…”
Paige looked at Kelsey’s bright eyes and couldn’t bring herself to say something.
Kelsey sensed her unease and gradually drew back her smile. “Sister, do you not like the idea of the two of us being together?”
Paige leaned against the pillar and quietly sized her up. After a long while, she said, “I just think that everything can wait until he wakes up. You don’t have to rush.”
If Nick is willing to be with Kelsey after he wakes up, then she will be happy for them.
But if not…
I really don’t know whose fault it is.
So that’s it. Kelsey pouted her tongue and said coquettishly, “I’m not in a hurry, it’s Nick who’s in a hurry. After he came down from the execution ground, he couldn’t wait to marry me immediately, and he even memorized the ritual process of marriage.”
“Kelsey!”
Nick’s voice came from afar.
Paige looked up and saw Nick pushing Kevin past her on the cloister, shaking his head at Kelsey from afar, “Come here, I’ll take you to play with the rabbit lanterns!”
“Coming!” Kelsey happily stood up, said goodbye to Paige and ran off.
Nick took her hand and they ran together, leaving Kevin sitting under the cloister, looking at Paige from afar and smiling helplessly.
The snowflakes in the sky separated the two.
“It’s like a TV show.”
Gabriel was nestled in Enrico’s arms, watching the screen. He couldn’t hear the sound, but the drone captured everything in the backyard in extraordinary beauty.
Under the heavy snowfall, their eyes met.
It was just like the TV series Olivia had been watching.
“Heh.”
A cold laugh sounded in his ear.
Gabriel glanced at the man beside him and obediently shut up.
The butler arrived late, pushing Kevin towards the pavilion. Some snow had settled on both of them.
“Why aren’t you sleeping?” Kevin waved the butler away, sat down in front of Paige, and said with a smile, ‘We’re getting married tomorrow, and I guess I’ll be busy from morning till night. If you don’t sleep, you won’t have the energy to deal with all that tomorrow.’
His gaze was gentle, as if it contained water.
“I can’t sleep.”
Paige gave the same answer, and her eyes fell on his arms. There was a rather large wooden box on his lap, with the Chinese character for ‘wedding’ written on it in red.
Kevin’s smile deepened when he saw her look, and he took out a small notebook from under the box. “Then take a look at this. It’s the schedule for tomorrow’s wedding.”
Paige took it and flipped through it. She saw that it was full of traditional wedding procedures, from the door of the bridal sedan chair to the door of the bridal sedan chair, to shooting the sedan chair, to jumping over the fire basin, to the rules of the wedding hall, etc., so full that there was no room on one page. Each item marked what the bride should do specifically, even down to the precise height of the feet raised and the lowness of the head bowed…
Paige looked astonished, “This is too meticulous, there’s no need.”
But it’s just a bait.
Seeing her indifferent and perfunctory attitude, Kevin’s eyes darkened, his smile slightly stiffened, and after a few seconds, he said, “Even if it’s a setup, the trap has to be more realistic for JT to fall into it.”
Upon hearing this, Paige stopped arguing and handed him the notebook.
There was no sign of her having even looked at it.
Kevin silently took it and said, “Oh yeah, and this, see if you’re satisfied?”
Paige looked over, and Kevin opened the wooden box in front of him and pulled back the red satin covering inside. A phoenix crown with a radiant glow and dazzling brilliance appeared in her line of sight. The craftsmanship was so fine that it was flawless, and the gems on it were all different but complemented each other.
Even in broad daylight, one could still feel its radiant light spinning gently.
It was beautiful.
Paige was captivated, and Kevin’s smile deepened as he held out the crown and handed it to her. “Do you like it?”
What did she have to like it for?
Paige looked at Kevin with some confusion, only to see a clear smile and expectation in his eyes. Her heart stopped for a moment, and she couldn’t help but think that Kevin wouldn’t do anything to her now…
She moved her lips, and the words “call off the wedding” came to her lips, but she swallowed them.
The arrow was already at the string.
Everything that needs to be prepared is being prepared, and everyone is busy. They can’t just reverse everything because of her sudden decision.
She lowered her eyes, concealing her complicated thoughts, and said, “It looks pretty good.”
After being woken up, Kevin’s thoughts on this should be gone.
It’s really strange. She and the current him have only been together for a few days, so why would he…
Kevin smiled and said, “Do you want to try it on first?”
“…”
Paige didn’t move.
“I’ll put it on you.”
Kevin smiled and leaned over her, holding up the phoenix crown in his hands and placing it on her head. The light from the gemstones dazzled her eyes, and the snow lightly fell behind her, breathtaking in its beauty.
The drone at the corner of the tall building twirled and fell heavily on the roof.
“You lost,” Enrico said, throwing the remote control in his hand down the tree and glancing at the little guy in his arms with a gloomy expression in his eyes. “She’s getting married.”
This is really funny.
Instead of running away and starting again, he is here gambling with a child about whether she will really marry someone.
What if he wins? What can this child use as collateral?
It’s really not interesting anymore.
Enrico jumped from the tree and left with a cold face.
“Eh? What about me? I dare not come down…”
Gabriel clung to the tree trunk and shouted at the top of his voice, “You can’t abandon me… she really, really won’t marry someone else…”
It’s just Mommy having a few words with Uncle Kevin, why get so angry?
Daddy is so petty!
In the pavilion, Paige raised her hand to block the bejeweled phoenix crown and pushed it back, turning down the offer in a faint voice, “No thanks.”
The phoenix crown is a standard accessory for the bride in traditional wedding etiquette, and even if she tried it on, she would not wear it.
“Don’t like it? There’s still time, I can have the embroiderers change it,” Kevin’s smile was a little stiff.
“This phoenix crown is not important in tomorrow’s plans,”
Paige said, instead casting her gaze at the red satin in the wooden box, “That one, can I have it?”
