Chapter 382: Today Is Important

Skylar listened to the whispers with a smirk, trying to hide her enjoyment.
Bianca heard it all. She glanced at Dave, standing apart, and Skylar, looking elegant and poised beside him.
They seemed perfect together, but she felt like a fool. It felt like her heart was being torn apart.
He was Skylar’s fiance? And the CEO of the Phoenix Alliance Group? So that was the truth?
Bianca bit her lip so hard that blood began to trickle down.
Dave had told her Skylar was just his cousin, that he had no ties to the Evans Group, and that he was just an ordinary man.
Bianca had believed every word he said, but now he had destroyed her trust and her feelings, utterly ruining her heart.
Only now did she realize he hadn’t told her a single truth?
Everything he said was a lie. Had he broken up with her because he was bored of the game?
Bianca felt like she might collapse. She clung to what little composure she had left to stop herself from breaking down right there.
She was determined not to let him see her fall apart.
Then Bianca looked at Skylar and saw they were dressed the same.
At that moment, everything about Skylar’s actions became clear to her.
When Skylar was preparing for her engagement party, she had insisted that Bianca join her.
Skylar even convinced her to go ring shopping together, making it seem like a fun outing.
Little did Bianca know, Skylar had known about her relationship with Dave for a long time. It was all part of a plan to hurt her.
Now, she understood. Skylar had meant to humiliate her by claiming Dave was hers.
And by giving her a dress exactly like hers, Skylar had set her up to be mocked and looked down on.
After all, how could she ever compare to Dave’s fiancee in the eyes of everyone?
What a scheming woman! Bianca scoffed and secretly clenched her fists.
They were all waiting for her to embarrass herself, but she was strong enough not to give them that satisfaction.
Finally, Bianca’s eyes landed on Lucas, the old man with a strong presence, clearly the respected leader of the Evans Group.
Taking a deep breath, Bianca spoke clearly and with respect. “I didn’t sneak in. I walked in with an official invitation.”
“An invitation?” Lucas scowled and asked sharply, “Why do you have an invitation? Who invited you?”
“Grandpa,” Dave interrupted. “Today is important. Let’s not ruin it over someone who doesn’t matter.”
He then looked at Zane with a stern expression. “Zane, please escort this lady out. We can deal with any problems later.”
As Dave spoke, his eyes turned cold as they flickered toward Bianca.
Bianca couldn’t look away from Dave. The longer she stared at him, the sadder she felt.
“Someone who doesn’t matter?” Lucas scoffed, giving Bianca a sharp look. “She has always opposed the Evans Group and even openly challenged us. What is she trying to do by wearing the same dress as Skylar? Is she trying to steal your attention and become your wife?”
“Grandpa, it’s just a coincidence. Don’t overthink it,” Dave replied, his patience running out. He was worried that Bianca’s presence would cause more problems, so he called out firmly, “Zane!”
“Miss Scott, please come with me.” Zane quickly stepped in, grabbing Bianca’s wrist.
His job was to follow Dave’s orders.
Now, he had the final instruction from Dave.
That was to escort Bianca out.
Bianca stood her ground and shrugged off Zane’s hand.
She smiled and turned to Lucas. “You asked who invited me, right?” She raised her arm slowly and pointed at Dave.
“He did. Dave Evans invited me.”
The room was immediately filled with shock.
“Holy shit! What a surprise.”
“Could she be the woman Dave has been seeing secretly?”
“Poor Miss Larson…”
Lucas’s frown deepened, and his eyes grew darker.
“Ridiculous! How could Dave have invited you?”
“You might want to ask him why he invited me and why he got involved with someone like me,” Bianca said calmly with a smile. “And maybe you should ask Miss Larson why she insisted I wear the same dress as hers. What is she so afraid of?”
Bianca stood still, her hands clenched tightly. She was afraid she might fall if she moved.
Whispers filled the room.
“She had a different dress on when she got here.”
“I saw it too. Skylar took her to change.”
“That’s odd. Why would Miss Larson do that?”
Skylar had hoped Bianca would crumble or run away in shame, but Bianca remained calm and unshaken.
Bianca shifted all the blame onto Skylar and Dave with a few sharp words.
Skylar became nervous. “Bianca, stop making things up. I noticed your outfit was messy earlier, so I suggested we go to my room for you to change. You’re the one who chose the same dress as me. Clearly, you had a plan all along.”
Lucas sided with Skylar, thinking Bianca was just trying to cover her tricks. To him, she was a master of manipulation.
Still, Bianca’s words made him look at Dave. He asked, “Dave, what’s going on here?”
Lucas needed Dave to explain things clearly to ease his doubts.
Dave lowered his head, staying silent. Before he could answer, Skylar spoke up. “If Dave doesn’t want to talk about it, don’t push him. I’m sure he has his reasons. Maybe their connection is purely professional.”
Though Skylar’s words seemed to defend Dave and Bianca, they only deepened suspicions about their relationship.
Lucas’s anger flared. “Am I pushing him? I just want answers. Dave, did you invite her? What’s your connection to this woman? If you don’t explain, you can forget about inheriting the Evans Group.”
It was harsh for Lucas to speak this way in front of the guests, but he was already annoyed with Bianca. He had tried to have her removed before, yet she not only avoided trouble but also triggered a drama at such a critical event.
It was obvious she didn’t respect his authority.
Lucas wasn’t stupid. He realized that for Bianca to act so boldly, she must have strong backing. The only person daring enough to challenge him was Dave.
He had always trusted Dave and planned to make him the company’s future leader. But now, Dave hid a woman and let her cause chaos at the celebration.
