Chapter 734: She Doesn’t Look Like a Good Person

Book:A King Reborn in Shadows Published:2025-2-5

Two days ago, after the banquet, Paulina Johnston was arrogant and even cursed that Flynn would definitely lose to Layla Woods.
But today, her tone changed, speaking softly, which surprised Flynn.
“If it’s about Uncle Matteo, let’s talk on the phone. If not, then hang up,” Flynn said coldly.
There was silence on the other end of the phone, followed by hurried breathing.
Knowing Paulina Johnston well, Flynn was sure she was angry.
Flynn was about to hang up the phone with an expressionless face, but Paulina Johnston suppressed her anger and said, “It is indeed related to your Uncle Matteo, but it’s not something that can be discussed over the phone. Why don’t you suggest a location for us to meet?”
“Uncle Matteo?” Flynn frowned and thought for a moment. “I still have three hours until I reach Niarak. Meet me at Thodell Mansion at noon.”
“Alright!” Paulina Johnston quickly agreed.
After hanging up the phone, a trace of worry appeared on Flynn’s face.
Since the end of the banquet, he had been worried about Matteo Kaur.
The divorce had hit him hard, and it was difficult for anyone to accept that their daughter had kept it a secret.
Last night at Scarlet’s house for dinner, Flynn sent Matteo Kaur a message wishing him a happy holiday, but all he received in return was a simple “you too”.
Flynn knew that Uncle Matteo was still upset, so he gave up on calling him.
“Was it Madeline who called you?” Scarlet’s eyes turned towards the window, seeming lost in thought.
Flynn replied casually, “It was Paulina Johnston.”
“Does she want you to reconcile with Madeline?” Scarlet’s eyes flashed with sadness as she spoke softly. “If you want to reconcile, I wish you both the best.”
“Reconcile?” Flynn couldn’t help but pause and snort. “That’s a wild idea. Do you really think it’s possible?”
“Why not?” Scarlet said lightly. “Madeline is beautiful and one of the top three beauties in Niarak. Don’t you like beautiful women? Would you miss out on such an opportunity?”
“The top three?” Flynn raised an eyebrow. “Who is the first and second?”
“The first is undoubtedly Ms. Sharp, no doubt about it.”
“And the second is Callie, a talented woman even before she fell ill.”
Flynn grinned. “Exactly! Why settle for third place when I can have the first two?”
“Huh? Your thoughts are quite interesting,” Scarlet chuckled. But suddenly, she paused and then fiercely punched him, scolding him playfully, “You jerk! If you dare have any thoughts about Ms. Sharp or Callie, I’ll strangle you!”
Flynn laughed triumphantly.
“You’re just being conceited!” Scarlet rolled her eyes and hummed. “Callie might be interested in you, but Ms. Sharp wouldn’t give a second thought to a playboy like you.”
“She wouldn’t be interested in me? Well, I’m not interested in her either!” Flynn shrugged his shoulders unhappily. “I’ve helped her so much, and she can’t even treat me to a meal. She just uses me all the time.”
“She doesn’t look like a good person!”
Flynn changed his tone with his last sentence, making Scarlet burst into laughter.
She knew what was going on between them.
Rose couldn’t stand seeing Flynn so arrogant and always tried to find ways to annoy him.
She couldn’t go a day without making things difficult for Flynn. Otherwise, she wouldn’t feel at ease.
“You must have done something terrible to her in your past life. Now you’re paying off your debts.” Scarlet laughed.
“Nonsense!” Flynn grumbled unhappily. “I am indeed here to pay off debts, but not Rose’s debts.”
“If it weren’t for Kevin Sharp, I wouldn’t care about this woman’s life or death!”
“But it can’t be denied that Rose has indeed benefited from your help and has come this far,” Scarlet said calmly. “And recently, Ms. Sharp’s personality has improved significantly. That’s all thanks to you. She’s very lucky.”
Flynn didn’t comment but sighed. “Unfortunately, Kevin Sharp doesn’t have much time left.”
“When he dies, she’ll definitely hate me. I’m afraid her personality will revert to what it used to be.”
“Right now, I just hope Kevin Sharp can hold on until the Sharp Group achieves great success.”
“But fate can be unpredictable. Who knows if Kevin Sharp’s death will turn out to be a major hurdle?”
Scarlet fell silent.
She had heard about Kevin Sharp’s situation. He wanted to die desperately.
No wonder Rose was relentless in seeking revenge against Lilia Hussain, who destroyed the Sharp family. Rose naturally would never let go of this grudge!
In the end, this business war was ultimately a battle of revenge. But how many other companies would suffer along with them?
Scarlet also wanted to ask Flynn about his visit to Bayview Estates last night.
But that matter was too confidential.
Katie Wilcox was sleeping in the backseat. Scarlet ultimately didn’t bring it up.
The car sped away.
Three hours later, they finally arrived near an upscale neighborhood in Niarak.
This was the villa that Flynn bought for Grandma Wilcox-a large flat of over 300 square meters.
When they first met, Katie Wilcox borrowed high-interest loans to buy luxury goods and got into trouble with Beckett Reeves’ people coming after her for repayment. Flynn helped resolve the situation and also recruited Jagger from Beckett Reeves’ gang.
Now Jagger took care of Grandma Wilcox while Flynn was away and received a call from him once he entered Niarak.
Jagger had been waiting eagerly at the entrance and rushed to open the gate when he saw Flynn’s car approaching. He exuded an air of respect for Flynn in every aspect of his demeanor.
“Keep an eye on her from now on. If Grandma Wilcox doesn’t agree or if she dares to go out without permission, break her legs directly.” Flynn pointed at Katie Wilcox and instructed Jagger.
“You… How dare you let him break my legs? I’ll make Mr. Watson break your limbs!” Katie Wilcox’s face turned fierce as she clenched her fists tightly with anger almost bursting from her eyes.
Flynn replied calmly, “Feel free to try!”
Jagger was taken aback but quickly nodded and flattered with a smile. “Mr. Clark can rest assured. I will keep an eye on her.”
The group arrived at the door and rang the bell. Grandma Wilcox immediately opened the door.
After seeing Katie Wilcox, Grandma Wilcox hit her with a crutch without hesitation and scolded angrily, “What did you do by going into Pelens, you brat? And causing trouble for Flynn to bring you back! Can’t you give us peace of mind?”
“If anything happens to you, how can I explain it to your father?”
While speaking, tears welled up in Grandma Wilcox’s eyes as she prepared to hit Katie Wilcox again with the crutch.
“I don’t need you meddling in my life!” Katie Wilcox slapped away the crutch that came towards her and stormed into her bedroom before slamming the door shut with a bang.
Flynn’s face darkened. “Grandma Wilcox, the man, who took Katie Wilcox to Pelens, doesn’t seem like a good person.”
“I’ve already told Jagger. From now on, you must keep a close eye on Katie Wilcox!” he continued firmly.
“Alright! Alright! Thanks to you this time. These past few days have been unbearable for me-I couldn’t eat or sleep properly because I was so worried!” Grandma Wilcox readily agreed and fully endorsed what Flynn said.
If she didn’t start taking better care of Katie Wilcox now, there might be serious consequences in the future.
“Come in! Come in! Sit inside quickly.” Grandma Wilcox led Flynn to the sofa.
After sitting down with Scarlet beside him, Grandma Wilcox patted Flynn’s hand and smiled. “You came just in time. I was just looking for you.”
“I found another clue about your mother. Ten years ago, when you were imprisoned for a month, an old man with the surname ‘Hawthorne’ asked about me,” Grandma Wilcox said excitedly.
“Do you know this person?”
