Chapter 718: This Kid Is Insanely Arrogant

Book:A King Reborn in Shadows Published:2025-2-5

“Audacious! How dare a thug like you even speak here?!”
“A man doomed to die yet dares to demand the Wong family make a choice? What a joke!”
“I heard this kid is a Grandmaster. Does he really think he can wreak havoc on the Gray family?”
In the courtyard, over a dozen tables were set with guests, all prominent figures from the Pelens elite families. Upon hearing Flynn’s brazen words, everyone was enraged, their scornful remarks flowing freely.
In their eyes, Flynn’s arrogance stemmed solely from his skills. But Rolando had already announced that Jiri Langley had gone to summon his elder brother, who would arrive shortly. Once the Grandmaster at his peak appeared, they were eager to see what leverage Flynn had left to boast.
Rolando sneered coldly and said disdainfully, “At the banquet this morning, we underestimated your strength, which led to Felix Langford being seriously injured.”
“And now, you think you can repeat this morning’s events? Do you truly believe brute strength alone can subdue all the prominent families of Pelens?”
“The Gray family has countless ways to crush you!”
Flynn tilted his head slightly, a mocking smile playing on his lips. “This morning, you groveled like a dog, toasting and apologizing to me. Now you’ve found some helpers and started barking again?”
“With your pathetic character, even that dog Zion Watson spoke highly of you. But in my eyes? You’re nothing.”
Zion Watson? A dog?
The crowd shuddered at this statement.
Unbelievable!
This kid had completely lost it!
Not only did he disregard powerful families like the Gray and Langford families, but he even dared to insult Lysander King Zion Watson!
“Impudent! Insolent!” Jakub roared furiously, pointing at Flynn. “Do you think you can speak the revered name of Lysander King so casually? And with such vulgarity? Do you understand where you stand? This is the Gray family, the mayor’s residence!”
“Go to the gate immediately, kneel, and await the Langford family’s judgment!”
“Otherwise, not only will you perish, but your family and friends will also suffer!”
Clifford shook his head in disappointment, his gaze filled with regret.
Flynn, not even thirty years old, had already reached the rank of Grandmaster. Putting personal feelings aside, Clifford had admired him.
However, Flynn had succumbed to the common flaw of young prodigies-overconfidence.
With his growing achievements, his temperament had not matured. Instead, he had become cocky and arrogant, blinded by his own success.
Eduardo, hearing Flynn’s words, was also deeply anxious.
Flynn truly intended to stand against all the elite families of Pelens!
His courage was commendable, but courage without strength was nothing more than recklessness.
If he failed, his death would become a laughingstock.
What could be done now?
Even Peter, a man with a calm and commanding presence, darkened his expression at Flynn’s words, his gaze turning cold.
“Young man,” Peter said, his voice steady and firm. “I know you’re under thirty and have achieved much-becoming a Grandmaster and befriending some wealthy figures from Niarak.”
“But you must understand, there is always a greater mountain, a greater man. This is not Niarak. This is not a place where you can act recklessly.”
Rolando was Peter’s most treasured grandson, but in Flynn’s eyes, he was worthless.
And now, in the Gray family’s home, Flynn dared to speak so boldly, even insulting Lysander King!
Peter was, understandably, displeased.
The crowd exchanged uneasy glances.
Peter was angry.
This was rare.
But it also showed just how outrageous Flynn’s words had been.
For any ordinary family, Peter’s rebuke alone would have been terrifying. After all, the Gray family held a position of supreme authority. One word from Peter, and any family present would crumble under the weight of his power.
“Reckless?” Flynn snorted coldly, a sneer spreading across his face. “Don’t even mention Pelens. Even Slatin, Eahta, or any other nation-I come and go as I please. And you, an old relic, think you have the right to lecture me?”
The room fell into stunned silence, faces pale with shock.
How dare he?
This kid was absolutely insane!
The man he just insulted was none other than the father of the city’s mayor, the untouchable patriarch of the Gray family!
At that moment, a voice rang out from the doorway.
“If Peter isn’t qualified to lecture you, then what about me?”
The crowd turned toward the entrance, where a middle-aged man with an imposing presence and a cold expression strode into the hall.
“Mr. Langford,” Rolando greeted him with a slight bow, his tone respectful.
The Gray family members, except Peter, rose to their feet. On the Wong family’s side, they too stood respectfully, bowing as they said, “Chief Langford, you’ve arrived.”
The middle-aged man returned the Gray family’s greeting with a nod but cast a frosty glance at the Wong family before turning his sharp gaze toward Flynn.
“You must be Flynn,” he said.
“I am,” Flynn replied flatly, not even bothering to lift his eyes.
“My name is Adria Langford, Chief of Pelens’ Department of Commerce. Felix Langford is my son.” Adria’s tone was calm, but his words carried a simmering fury.
“Tell me, what did my son do to provoke you so badly that you broke all four of his limbs and condemned him to a lifetime in bed?”
Flynn’s expression remained unchanging as he replied, “Felix Langford was disrespectful. He deserved his fate.”
“Disrespectful? Deserved his fate?” Adria’s voice trembled with anger. “Who do you think you are to call my son disrespectful?”
“Are you some king of the Northern Territory? A governor of the realm?”
“Even if he was disrespectful, a slap or two would have sufficed. Why such brutal punishment?”
Adria’s hands shook uncontrollably, his eyes glinting with an icy rage.
Flynn raised an eyebrow slightly, his face calm as he said, “From my perspective, breaking his limbs was already an act of mercy.”
“Mercy?” Adria’s fury exploded, his powerful aura crashing through the hall as he roared, “Breaking his limbs is mercy? If you weren’t merciful, would you have slaughtered my entire family?!”
Flynn’s voice was cold and emotionless. “Yes. If you don’t apologize to me today, I might consider it.”
Boom!
The room erupted into chaos.
Faces turned pale.
This kid was beyond arrogant!
Adria Langford’s earlier words had been a rhetorical outburst, but Flynn had taken them literally, openly declaring his willingness to annihilate the Langford family.
Who talks like this?
Was Flynn living in a delusional world where he saw himself as a god, holding the power of life and death over all?
“You’re nothing more than a frog at the bottom of a well,” Adria spat, his voice trembling with rage. “Just because you’ve thrived in Niarak, you think you can challenge the world in Pelens?”
“If you don’t give me a satisfactory explanation today, the Langford family will tear you apart!”
“An explanation?” Flynn raised his right eyebrow again, a faint smile on his lips. “Didn’t I already give you one? Apologize to me, and the Langford family will no longer be a concern.”
Adria’s face turned red with rage, his fury boiling over.
Just then, another announcement rang out from the doorway.
“President Bobby Sheppard of Dragon Creek Society arrives with his daughter Peyton!”
Hearing this, Rolando smirked and turned to Flynn. “You’ve been strutting around here, relying on your martial skills and connections to a few Niarak businessmen.”
“But now, Mr. Sheppard is here. His Dragon Creek Society controls the economy of Shipmeda State. Destroying a few rural enterprises would take him mere days.”
“Let’s see how arrogant you remain after Mr. Sheppard deals with Orion Kennedy and the others!”
Even if Flynn had powerful allies in Niarak, the Gray family and their circle were unbothered.
To them, Orion Kennedy was nothing more than a small fish.
But the thought of slowly dismantling Flynn’s pride and watching him crumble filled them with excitement.
Adria Langford sneered as well. The Sheppard and Langford families shared close ties, and Bobby Sheppard would undoubtedly lend his aid. Once the Dragon Creek Society turned its attention to Niarak’s businesses, Flynn’s support would vanish.
Then, they would see how long his arrogance lasted.
