Paulina Johnston felt her head buzzing.
She had thought Flynn’s fortune of over $10 billion was already his limit. Never in her wildest dreams did she imagine he could pull out over $70 billion!
Memories of her interactions with Flynn flashed through her mind.
Every moment was filled with sarcasm, mockery, disdain, and ridicule.
Not a single kind word.
Not once did she speak to him softly.
When they divorced, she celebrated as if it were a festival, with fireworks and cheers. Paulina even danced in joy, believing she had freed herself from the bad luck Flynn represented and that the Kaur family would soar to new heights.
But Nathan had no interest in Madeline, and Flynn wasn’t bad luck at all-he was a god of fortune!
Seventy billion dollars!
The Kaur family couldn’t earn that in a hundred lifetimes.
Layla froze in shock.
She couldn’t fathom where Flynn had gotten such a massive amount of money.
Hadn’t he just been released from prison not long ago?
Lilia was even more stunned. When the figure of $70 billion was confirmed, her hand trembled.
This $70 billion was enough to completely change her perception of Flynn.
That disgusting pest turned out to be… someone significant!
“Ms. Sharp has over $70 billion now. It seems this business war won’t be so easy to win,” someone remarked.
“Indeed! With $70 billion backing her, Ms. Hussain’s attempt to crush Sharp’s Group in one swift move is clearly impossible now,” another added.
“Ha! What’s there to worry about? Ms. Hussain holds $100 billion in her hands and just secured another $20 billion in financing. With so many entrepreneurs supporting her and Layla on her side, Sharp’s Group is still doomed!”
“That’s right. Seventy billion is a lot, but in this business war, it will only slow down the company’s demise. Victory will still belong to Ms. Hussain.”
The crowd buzzed with heated discussion, each offering their judgments. Rose securing $70 billion in investment had shocked everyone-it was nothing short of astounding.
But it wasn’t enough.
Lilia controlled $120 billion, nearly twice as much, and still held the upper hand.
Lilia’s face was radiating arrogance, her chin practically pointing at the ceiling. She sneered:
“Seventy billion is a lot, but it’s far from enough.”
“For Sharp’s Group to survive, it would take at least $180 billion!”
“And you, with your measly $70 billion, will eventually fall into my hands!”
Matteo Kaur wore a look of concern.
When Flynn had revealed $70 billion earlier, Matteo had been utterly shocked.
It was unfathomable.
But as the initial shock faded, a deep worry began to take root.
Pouring so much money into this… was it all going to be wasted? Flynn was too stubborn, willing to spend everything just to humiliate Layla.
This was Adrianna Noble’s son, his excellent son-in-law. Matteo resolved that after the banquet, he would talk to Flynn seriously.
Flynn walked slowly off the stage, saying nothing to Lilia. His eyes, however, rested steadily on her legs.
Lilia was wearing a teal gown today, short in the front with a long train flowing behind her, resembling a peacock’s tail.
It revealed her flawless, long, white legs-straight, smooth, and so radiant they seemed to shine.
Tonight, the room was filled with stunning women: Layla, Rose, Scarlet, Molly-all of them could command attention anywhere.
But when it came to legs, Lilia outshone them all.
It was the reason Flynn couldn’t help but glance twice. Despite disliking Lilia, he had no resistance to her legs.
Those legs, draped over his shoulders, would surely sway beautifully with each thrust.
Flynn said nothing, his gaze brazenly fixed on Lilia’s legs. That was far more effective than any verbal retort.
His meaning was clear: Lilia, stop running your mouth. Soon enough, you’ll be kneeling on the bed, wagging your tail and begging me.
“You filthy dog! Just wait until I take over Sharp’s Group. See if I don’t gouge out those disgusting eyes of yours!”
Lilia was furious, glaring daggers at Flynn.
In all her life, she had never encountered such a shameless scoundrel. To blatantly stare at her legs in public without the slightest hesitation!
Rose scanned the crowd with calm indifference before speaking:
“I’ve given you all a chance. When your losses mount, don’t blame me.”
Flynn had secured $50 billion USD for Rose, of which only $10 billion had been revealed today. The remaining $40 billion could be transferred to her account at any time.
Under such circumstances, even if Lilia managed to raise another $100 billion, it would be futile.
Rose remained composed, as if watching fish trapped in a barrel.
But no one else realized this. They assumed Rose’s total was capped at $70 billion.
After all, Flynn having $70 billion was already astonishing. No one believed he had anything left.
Thus, Rose’s words were met with scorn.
“Ms. Sharp only has $70 billion, yet she talks as if she has $200 billion. What arrogance!”
“Exactly! Even if your funds were equal to Ms. Hussain’s, so what? We have more people, more resources, and Ms. Woods backing us. Do you really think we’re afraid of you?”
“Ms. Sharp, let me give you some advice: negotiating peace is your best option. If you keep fighting, you’ll only end up battered and broken!”
The room erupted in chaos.
Lilia’s supporters were convinced of their eventual victory, while neutral parties urged Rose to negotiate for peace.
Rose, however, simply chuckled, raising her glass of wine as she moved to a quieter corner.
Why waste words with a group of doomed fools? Reality would soon teach them a harsh lesson.
For now, she felt utterly relaxed.
Money truly was a wonderful thing-it worked wonders for curing insomnia.
“You’ve managed to come up with $70 billion. I’ll admit, I’m impressed,” Layla said coldly as she approached Flynn.
“But if you think you can humiliate me with that amount, you’re dreaming.”
“Seventy billion… It must have cost you everything, didn’t it? Or perhaps you borrowed it?”
Flynn raised an eyebrow, glancing at Layla but saying nothing.
Helping Rose had indeed been partly about slapping Layla in the face. His original plan was to throw $50 billion at her and hit hard.
But Rose wouldn’t allow it.
She wanted to turn this into a massive profit.
Flynn had no choice but to go along with her plan.
After securing $50 billion for Rose, his role was essentially done. The rest was up to her.
From now on, Flynn planned to focus on finding his mother.
Seeing his silence, Layla smirked coldly and shook her head.
“It seems my breaking off the engagement hit you harder than I thought. You’ve gone to such insane lengths.”
“First hiring someone to assassinate me, and now borrowing money to humiliate me.”
“You’re the kind of man I despise the most!”
“Hiring someone to assassinate you?” Flynn’s eyes narrowed as he spoke in a low voice.
“If I wanted you dead, do you think I’d need to hire anyone?”
Layla’s face darkened. She scoffed at Flynn’s denial, unwilling to argue further.
A man should own up to his actions.
Flynn had lured her to Northview and hired an assassin to ambush her. When the plan failed, he didn’t even have the courage to admit it. Such a man was beneath contempt.
“When I fought that assassin, I noticed a crescent-shaped scar on his forearm.”
“I’ll use my connections to find him and confront you face-to-face.”
“If it turns out the assassin was acting on your orders, I won’t hesitate to break your legs!”
Layla’s eyes were filled with cold fury, her words carrying a murderous edge.
With that, she turned and left.
She had brought up the matter today hoping for a confession. If Flynn admitted it, she might have let him off with ten slaps across the face, out of respect for Adrianna Noble’s past kindness to her father.
But Flynn’s shameless denial only fueled her anger.
Fine.
Since that was the case, she would settle this with facts. Once she found the assassin, Flynn would learn the true meaning of regret.
