Javier suddenly let out a loud laugh, and his shoulder shook violently, he quickly snapped shut like he wasn’t laughing before and he showered his cold gaze on Natalie. She remained unfazed by his intimidating gaze as she fearlessly sent him a glare.

After what seemed like a forever silence from both of them, Natalie cleared her throat and moved away from his path as she began to encircle him with her hands grasped behind her back.

“When we signed the marriage contract in Elvis’s office.” She began, “It’s stated that you’re going to take responsibility for my mother. However, Ever since then, you haven’t given me any update about her.” She brought it to his notice.

Mentally scolding herself for not asking him right from the on set about the conditions of her mother. She couldn’t believe that she was this forgetful about such an important matter.

“She’s fin….” Javier was saying.

“I want to see her.” Natalie snapped, as it dawned on her how she had missed her mother and hadn’t visited her ever since she signed the contract with Javier. “Take me to her.” her voice was filled with anxiety as she stood in front of Javier, desperation written all over her.

Javier stared down at her, and for the second time since he had met her, she was looking so vulnerable and he could see through her, how much she was trying to cancel her emotions. Instantly an idea struck him and he decided to make it tougher for her.

“I’m busy. I can’t take you there.” He replied coldly and began walking out of the door, while Natalie quickly trailed behind him.

“But Elvis stated that you would let me see my mother anytime I want!” she ranted loudly without minding if anyone could hear them as they both descended downstairs.

“That was Elvis’s rules, not mine!” Javier restored, just in time to her face before settling in the nearest coach.

Helen and Marcus came out at the same time the moment they both heard their voice and decided to check what the problem was.

Natalie was the first to see them as she didn’t bother to divert the conversation. She stood in front of Javier, with a smirk lingering at her lower lips, “Are you going to tell me or we should do it the hard way.” She threatened, without letting go of that smirk.

Javier furrowed his brows in confusion as he wondered what she meant by that, unexpectedly he averted his gaze to the stairs; there he saw his mom and uncle descending the stairs, he quickly averted his gaze back to Natalie, as he instinctively understood what she meant by ‘the hard way’ he couldn’t believe Natalie would go far as to expose them just to get back at him.

“You wouldn’t dare,” Javier murmured in-between clutched teeth, as he tightened his hand into a fist.

Natalie shook her head in amazement at his stubbornness, she then thought to push him harder, “Then watch me.” She challenged and began to approach Helen and Marcus who were already down the stairs as they both watched them in silence.

“Mother, are…”Natalie was saying.

“High city hospital.” Javier interrupted her in a loud voice and stood up to walk away.

“Going somewhere?” Helen asked, but deep down she was curious about why he mentioned their family hospital. However, Javier ignored her and walked away, heading to the garden to meet Elvis.

Helen’s gaze glittered with excitement, she couldn’t contain her happiness. She ran and quickly dragged Natalie to her side as she kept grinning ear to ear.

Natalie furrowed her gaze in confusion wondering why Javier’s mom was feeling so excited.

“Javier mentioned the hospital, are you pregnant?” Helen asked, grinning more widely, as she stood more closer to Natalie.

Natalie froze in shock as she was left speechless, puzzled about where such thought came from. Just the thought of Javier touching her body, made her nose squeeze up in irritation, as she shook her head discarding such thought.

Unexpectedly her mind went back to that night when Javier saved her from those hoodlums at the club, and she recalled how Javier’s gaze was showered on her, she shyly palmed her face with her palm.

“Ohh…You shouldn’t be shy.” Helen teased jokingly, smoothly her back.

Natalie speedily raised her head when it dawned on her that Helen wouldn’t drop down this conversation easily, her gaze quickly diverted to Marcus’s directions to ask for help, only to be disappointed with him for also siding with Helen.

“I’m…..” Natalie was saying,

“I said it, she’s pregnant!” Helen screamed out excitedly, as she ran to Marcus holding his hands. “I’m going to be a grandma soon. Let me go and get you a glass of juice.” She was giggly like a child, and ran into the kitchen,

“I-I….” Natalie sputtered as she was lost for words overseeing how excited Javier’s mom was looking and she Instantly felt weak on her bones.

She already knew that the truth would wipe this smile away from her lips and crush down this excitement, and she could only imagine what her reaction would be like.

Within a few minutes, Helen served Natalie, and she carefully placed the tray on the mini table beside Natalie and quickly urged her to take a sip, “Come on, drink up. I noticed you didn’t have a lot of breakfast. From now on I will take care of everything you need, eat, and wear in this house. Just let me know if you need anything.” Helen instructed, as she excitedly dragged Marcus away.
