Drive your friend away!

The dubious thoughts that were forming inside Rebecca’s head grew stronger as Kwan held her hand and led her back inside the living room. She felt uncomfortable with the way he had been acting lately.
Wen stared painfully at their backs as they walked down the passageway. She got devoured by her emotions and wasn’t aware of what she was doing. She didn’t mean to kiss an engaged man, but she just couldn’t prevent herself from doing so.
Rebecca sat down on the couch grumpily as she twisted her arms around each other. She couldn’t forget what she saw-her boyfriend’s best friend attempted to kiss him without thinking how it could ruin their relationship. She tried to make herself believe that it wasn’t true, but she couldn’t think of anything else.
Kwan couldn’t look at Rebecca’s face as well. He was staring in the opposite direction from her, and he doesn’t know how to explain everything, but he was regretful of what happened. Their backs weren’t touching, as a huge gap reigned between them.
Kwan thought she was probably sulking because of what she saw. He didn’t expect this would happen, though, and he couldn’t do anything about it now. His only choice was to apologize to his future wife before it was too late.
“Rebecca, I’m-” Kwan spoke out as he turned back to face Rebecca, but she wasn’t looking at him. “I’m so sorry, Rebecca,” he continued. His voice was a little bit husky, but he sounded serious, as he didn’t want her to think that he was just fooling her.
“It’s okay, Kwan. You don’t need to apologize,” Rebecca replied without giving him a glance. “I’m just confused why it’s happening. I mean, I feel like you’re hiding a lot of secrets from me, and that makes me feel invaluable.”
Rebecca emitted a long, deep, audible breath before she continued. “If you don’t want to tell me everything, please at least tell me if you really want us to continue this. It’s not too late yet if you’d back out. I just don’t want this to get worse, you know.”
“I understand what you’re saying, and I’m sorry if this is happening. I know it’s all my fault, and I promise I won’t do that again. I don’t want us to break us just because of that, so please, I’m asking for your understanding,” Kwan replied.
“Just tell me the truth, Kwan. I don’t want to believe in your lies anymore. I don’t want to hear your explanation. I just want to know if you really still want us to be together,” Rebecca interrupted.
“I love you, Rebecca, so please don’t ask me such a question. We’ve been together for quite a long time, and it will be a waste if we ruin our relationship just because of a tiny issue.”
“It’s not tiny Kwan, you know that. But you don’t know how I feel that you’re having a friend complex with Wen. Have you ever thought of my feelings even just once?” Rebecca pressed her knees.
“Where did you get that idea, Rebecca?” Kwan stood up and stared at Rebecca. “I and Wen are just close friends, and if you can’t listen and understand that, then why won’t you just tell me what you want?”
“Do you really want to know what I want?” Rebecca suddenly stood up and directly faced her fiance. Her eyes are teary, and she could give up soon. “Then drive your friend away, because she’s just ruining our relationship!”
Kwan was lulled. He didn’t expect that Rebecca would say that. Perhaps he doesn’t really know her as well as he thought. Right there, he was between the devil and the deep blue sea.
It was not easy for him to choose between his girlfriend and his best friend. Both of them are valuable to him. Wen has been there with him ever since he was young; she never missed any occurrence in his life, even before Rebecca arrived. But he still doesn’t know whom to let go.
Others said that if you love a person, you should know how to let them go, but it is not as easy as they think. It was not easy to let go of someone you loved for a very long time.
Kwan didn’t say anything as he walked out of the room and continued upstairs to the rooftop to breathe some fresh air as he felt like he was suffocated by what was happening. This kind of situation is what he hates the most.
As he stared at the starry sky, he remembered when he was free on his own and didn’t have to choose. It wasn’t so lonely, though, and ever since he met Rebecca, everything’s changed. She changed him, and he doesn’t know why he had to.
It was just yesterday when they were so happy because he knew that Rebecca was pregnant-that’s exactly the reason why he doesn’t want to be so happy because tomorrow might not be good.
If he lets go of his best friend, he will probably be lonely because he’s not used to being without her. He trusts her more than anyone else, and he doesn’t want to throw those things away just because of what she did.
“Oh, brother Damian. If you’re just here, please tell me what I should do now,” Kwan soliloquized when someone touched his shoulder. As he looked back, he saw a familiar face, which surprised him.
“Brother Damian?” Kwan’s eyes widened, seeing Damian in a white robe. His eyes were peaceful, and his face was mild. “How did you get here?”
“I heard you calling for my help, Kwan Moldrick,” Damian replied as he removed his hand from his shoulder and leaned on the wall beside him. “Do you really need my help?”
“Aren’t you at the mansion of San Jose?” Kwan asked curiously as he held his chin, thinking how this old man got there. “I didn’t notice you were coming. How did you get inside, by the way?”
“There’s one important thing I want to tell you, son. I hope you won’t be surprised by this. I didn’t come here just to give you advice about what you should do now, but also to warn you about a deluge,” Damian said in a serious tone.
A deluge? What does he mean by that? Who exactly is Brother Damian? Does he have the power to teleport or something surprising? What is his role in this story? Is he going to help, or will he just complicate everything?
