Chapter 1787: Admittance

Book:My Ex-husband Regretted To End The Marriage Published:2025-2-5

The Simpson family was not a complicated household. It had a simple and straightforward structure.
Under normal circumstances, if Callum said so, there shouldn’t be any problems.
However, after numerous confrontations with Preston, Ayan naturally knew how despicable and shameless this person was.
Since he stubbornly believed that the Simpson family owed him, combined with his grandfather’s words, Ayan couldn’t help but think that everything might just be Preston’s delusion.
Ayan nodded slightly and reassured the old man, “Grandfather, you don’t need to worry about this matter. I will handle it.”
“I know that worrying won’t solve anything. I’m just surprised about who exactly Preston is.”
“He wasn’t originally surnamed Walker. His last name is Khan. Preston is the adopted son of the Walker family and has a sister named Eileen. They both grew up in an orphanage. Elijah, the secretary of Armstrong Corp, is Preston’s supposed uncle, but he refuses to say anything about Preston.”
Even with threats and inducements, Elijah didn’t reveal much information about Preston, so it didn’t help much in investigating him.
Upon hearing this, the old man’s expression immediately became serious.
Ayan noticed his grandfather’s expression and asked softly, “Grandfather, do you remember something?”
“Since it’s related to the Armstrong family, you should also go to the prison and ask Brody some questions while finding out more about Camille.”
“That’s my plan. I’ll go there in the next couple of days.”
“Don’t wait. Go now!”
It was easy for Ayan to meet someone in prison. It only took a few words to arrange it.
Because of Ayan’s words and the involvement of Preston, as well as the current situation, Callum couldn’t help but worry.
However, he couldn’t recall who this person was from deep within his memory.
He instructed Ayan, “After finding out, no matter what the result is, come and tell me.”
Ayan nodded and agreed.
After chatting with his grandfather for a little longer, Ayan quickly set off for the prison.
On his way there, Kian had already contacted the people at the prison, so Ayan could immediately meet Brody upon arrival.
Ayan sat in a relatively small but clean room. After a few minutes, Brody was brought in by a prison guard.
Brody had become much thinner, but his body was healthier than before.
When he saw Ayan, Brody was surprised and then put on an ingratiating smile. “Ayan, why do you have time to come and see me?”
Ayan motioned for him to sit down and talk. He instructed Kian to hand over a cigarette before saying calmly, “Are you getting used to being inside?”
This question sounded strange no matter who listened to it.
Brody hesitated for a moment and couldn’t answer properly because of Ayan’s tone. After all, it sounded like Brody had moved or changed jobs.
Who could get used to or not get used to being in prison?
Brody looked puzzled and his face became somewhat stiff. He looked at Ayan and his voice trembled as he asked, “Ayan, do you have something important to say today?”
Ayan simply smiled. It was hard to tell what he was thinking from his expression. Combined with his silence, Brody became anxious.
Brody said, “Ayan, if you have something to say or ask, just say it, but as you can see, I can’t do anything here. I’m powerless.”
“There are indeed some things that only you can do.” Ayan deliberately emphasized the word “you”.
Brody’s face instantly turned serious. His eyes were fixed on Ayan with shock.
Ayan continued, “Your only son is doing quite well abroad, and your two daughters seem to be generous enough not to hold any grudges.”
Brody remained silent, his face stern. This was undoubtedly a slap in the face for him, as he had hidden it for many years. His son had always been in a shadowy position, and although Brody desperately wanted him to be recognized as the sole heir of the Armstrong family, reality was proving to be a bitter disappointment.
When Brody didn’t speak, Ayan smiled and pressed on, “Don’t you have anything you want to ask?”
Brody stammered, unable to form a complete sentence: “Ayan… I… I…”
Ayan chuckled, “If you don’t want to talk, that’s fine. I actually came here today to ask you about a few things.”
“Go ahead, speak!” Brody urged.
“Camille is also your daughter, but aside from the old Armstrong and a non-blood-related grandmother, it seems that no one in the Armstrong family truly cares for her.”
Brody instantly understood that Ayan was here to stand up for Camille. He was well aware of how the Armstrong family really treated her.
Looking at Ayan, Brody said, “Ayan, Camille is certainly our daughter. It’s just that she didn’t grow up with us, and sometimes we inevitably neglect her.”
“Is it just neglect?” Ayan asked coldly.
Brody fell silent.
Ayan’s expression turned even darker, a scowl etched on his face.
Seeing this, Brody didn’t dare to breathe, merely watching Ayan as he pressed his lips together in silence.
Ayan scoffed softly, his voice icy cold. “Ms. Armstrong, let’s get to the bottom of this. Since I came here specifically to see you today, I must have solid evidence. Is Camille really the daughter of the Armstrong family?”
Ayan asked point-blank.
Only Brody and Ayan were present in the room. There was no one else to hear whatever Ayan said.
His questioning left Brody stunned.
Brody looked at Ayan incredulously. His eyes were filled with shock. He seemed to be looking at some dreadful demon.
He couldn’t speak for a long time. Ayan also waited silently without any intention of speaking. Brody became increasingly anxious.
Finally, Brody asked in a low voice, “Ayan… How did you find out about this?”
By asking this question, Brody admitted it.
Brody smirked and said calmly, “It doesn’t matter. Since Camille is not an Armstrong family member by blood, now that we’ve reached this point… Aren’t you going to say anything? If I hadn’t come here today to ask you about it, were you planning on never mentioning it forever?”
“Ayan, Camille’s situation is not as simple as you imagine. Even if I tell you everything now, there’s nothing you can do.”
“Is that so?” Ayan smiled coldly. He spoke of the Bill family and told Brody, “Do you want me to continue investigating? If I find out something, then there won’t be anything good for you in this matter. If you explain everything clearly upfront, maybe I’ll consider this as you doing me a favor. You should think about it carefully!”
