In the office, Camille grabbed her bag and was ready to leave.
Ayan immediately walked over and reached out to stop her. “Did you hear?”
Camille didn’t say anything. She just looked at Ayan with a dull expression, quite unsure of what to do.
Ayan continued, “If you want to know something, just ask me, okay?”
“Did you mean that Crystal’s sudden quit is because of you? What exactly are you hiding from me about your relationship with her?” Camille took a deep breath. She didn’t want to pretend not to have heard. That would only create conflicts between them.
She was never good at hiding things. Once there was any barrier in her heart, it would inevitably show.
It had always been like this for years, no matter what the situation was.
Since he said that, Camille didn’t hold back and asked directly.
Ayan pulled Camille aside and sat down before explaining, “There are indeed some things being dealt with between Crystal and me, but they are related to the Bill family. It’s not about cooperation. It’s a personal matter. I haven’t figured out the details yet, so I can’t tell you for now. Can you understand?”
Camille nodded lightly, but her expression still seemed dazed.
He continued, “As for Crystal not wanting to continue with this project, it has nothing to do with me. I’m not that bored. You can ask her if you want to know if it’s her own decision or if I threatened her.”
Ayan naturally knew what was going on. Crystal didn’t dare to come to Hance City or continue with the project because of his words. He wanted her to stay away from Camille.
Because he didn’t want Camille to be curious about anything related to the Bill family.
But now the Bill family was becoming restless. Compared to them, Crystal naturally preferred cooperation.
Ayan asked in a low voice, “Do you want Crystal to continue with this project?”
“If it’s her personal decision, I won’t interfere. But can you guarantee that you’re not the one behind this?”
If Ayan intentionally kicked her out of the project, Crystal wouldn’t dare to say anything, even if she wanted to continue with this project.
Camille looked at him seriously, her eyes somewhat reminding him.
Ayan smiled helplessly and then said lightly, “I really have nothing to do with it. I swear!”
He hadn’t done anything yet. He had just said a few words. Crystal would weigh the importance of his words herself.
Camille snorted and said, “I’ll call her later and ask. If you threatened her, see how I deal with you!”
“Now you want to deal with me because of her?” Ayan looked at her and asked with an aggrieved expression.
Camille didn’t say anything and snorted lightly. There was a warning and displeasure in that sound.
After discussing the matter and being overheard by Camille, there was no need for them to stay in the office any longer.
After finishing their conversation, they left together for the hospital.
It had been several days since they last visited. Ayan had also gone on a business trip, so his grandfather missed them.
Callum grumbled, “Even if you’re busy with work, remember to come and see me.”
Camille and Ayan smiled, “Yes, yes, we promise you’ll be our top priority from now on.”
“You don’t have to make it so important. If you value me so much, I’ll feel pressured. Just keep it appropriate!” Callum asked Ayan to bring out the chessboard. He wanted to play chess with Camille.
Although Camille wasn’t very good at chess, playing chess with her made him much happier.
While playing chess, Callum couldn’t help but complain, “Playing chess with Ayan’s father is really torturous. He doesn’t understand how to respect elders. He is a bad chess player. If it weren’t for nobody playing chess with me in the hospital, I would never have played with him. He always shows off his chess skills all the time as if he’s afraid that others don’t know how good he is.”
The old man’s complaints were really loud, and the person was right in front of them.
That was quite disrespectful.
Fletcher also felt helpless and started complaining to Camille, “Camille, that’s not true! Before playing chess, he insisted that I couldn’t go easy on him and had to show him all my real skills. But when I really did this, he got angry and upset. Even Dr. Ellis ordered him not to play chess anymore.”
“It’s not that Dr. Ellis forbids me from playing chess. It’s that he forbids me from playing chess with you! You’re too irritating,” the old man retorted.
The argument between the two elders gave Camille a headache. She didn’t know whose side she should take.
She could only smile.
Seeing this situation, Ayan couldn’t help but add fuel to the fire. He said casually, “Why don’t you two play against yourselves? Have a competition and see who can play better. The winner will get a reward from me-a commemorative flag that Timothy can see when he grows up.”
Both Callum and Fletcher looked at Ayan with disdainful eyes. There was a cold chill in their gaze.
It seemed like they were saying they didn’t know this fool.
Camille laughed and said, “Callum, let’s focus on our game and ignore him.”
“Hey! Are you trying to make things difficult for me? Then walk back by yourself later!” Ayan walked over and pinched Camille’s cheek, but before he could let go of his hand completely, the old man slapped it away.
Callum frowned and said unhappily, “You dare bully her in front of me? If we’re not here… will she suffer because of you?”
Camille lowered her head without saying a word. She looked so obedient that it made the old man feel even more distressed.
Ayan looked at his grandpa and felt helpless.
He lifted Camille’s chin while the old man prepared to scold his grandson again. Ayan asked Camille seriously, “Camille, tell Grandpa honestly-have I mistreated you?”
Camille blinked her eyes. There was a cunning look in them as she looked at Callum and said, “He hasn’t mistreated me, but… Forget it… Please stop asking.”
With Camille saying this, how could Callum not ask? They even stopped playing chess directly. Instead, he called Fletcher over to bring another chair closer so they could sit down together. He said, “I want to see who dares bully Camille!!”
This situation seemed like they were going to hold a trial or something similar.
Camille pursed her lips. She almost burst out laughing but managed to hold it in because she wanted to see Ayan be scolded.
Callum said calmly again after seeing Ayan’s expression, “Don’t think that just because I’m in the hospital now, I can’t do anything about you anymore. Honestly confess-have you mistreated Camille?”
Ayan stared at Camille without blinking. His gaze made her feel a little scared. Why did it feel like there was some kind of threat?
But now that she had support from his grandfather and father, she wasn’t afraid at all.
Camille said calmly, “Callum… let’s forget about it.”
