From that day forward, Howard Sample swore he would kill Chris and avenge his father.
What Howard Sample never expected, however, was to run into Chris in a place like this.
But Howard Sample was no longer the same man he had been. After everything he had endured, he had grown. He quickly calmed himself, gritting his teeth and saying, “Chris, now I see-you’ve been following me all along.”
Chris was slightly surprised to see Howard Sample regain his composure so quickly. Back in Gambling City, Howard Sample had been nothing more than a pampered playboy from the Sample family. Yet now, after all this time, he seemed to have matured.
Chris chuckled lightly. “I happened to run into Young Master Sample at the hotel,” he remarked. “I was curious-didn’t you go to prison? What are you doing here? So, I decided to follow you, just to see how you’ve been living these days.”
Howard Sample’s face tensed as Chris spoke. He knew exactly who Chris was.
Chris wasn’t just any man-he was Amerosia’s Primus.
More importantly, he was Daniel Williams’ mortal enemy.
The people aboard this ship were crucial; they were tied to the prince’s grand ambitions, and no mistakes could be allowed.
Thinking of this, Howard Sample’s expression turned twisted. “Chris,” he snarled, “since you’ve come here, I’ll kill you today and avenge my father! Guards!”
Clatter!
At his command, a group of Hall of Valerian members stormed in, armed to the teeth. The black muzzles of their guns pointed squarely at Chris, ready to fire at any moment.
Faced with this, Chris showed no fear.
He stared at Howard Sample and spoke coolly, “Tell me-what’s your plan? Why did you bring all these people onto the ship?”
Howard Sample burst out laughing. “Chris, it’s none of your business. Asking questions like that won’t do you any good! But looking at you, strong and resilient, you might actually meet the prince’s requirements. If I capture you, the prince will surely be thrilled!”
Howard Sample’s eyes gleamed with excitement.
If he could capture Chris, he could turn him into the ultimate super soldier.
When that time came, the prince would undoubtedly reward him handsomely, and Howard Sample’s own status would rise with the tide.
But Chris’s cold gaze cut through Howard Sample’s enthusiasm.
In an instant, Chris understood everything.
Howard Sample had fully pledged his allegiance to Daniel Williams.
And the people aboard this ship? They were likely destined to be transformed into those monstrous super soldiers of the Hall of Valerian.
A chill radiated from Chris as he thought of the horrors he’d witnessed with Shura and the others. He had promised himself then that he would never allow Daniel Williams’ schemes to succeed.
If Daniel Williams succeeded, it would spell disaster for all of Amerosia.
Chris fixed his eyes on Howard Sample. “I know exactly what you’re planning,” he said coldly. “You’ve thrown your lot in with Daniel Williams, helping him carry out his atrocities.”
“The people you’ve captured on this ship… if I’m right, they’re meant to be turned into super soldiers. But you’ve made a mistake-because you’ve run into me. I destroyed your Sample family and killed your father before. And today, I’ll do the same to you.”
“Kill him! Kill him now!”
Howard Sample’s face twisted in rage as he screamed, his voice a desperate cry.
At his order, the Hall of Valerian members prepared to pull their triggers.
Whoosh!
Suddenly, Chris vanished from where he stood.
Before the armed guards could react, Chris was already upon them.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
One after another, gunshots echoed.
In mere moments, dozens of Hall of Valerian members lay lifeless on the ground.
Howard Sample’s face froze in shock.
Dozens of fully armed men, and none of them had been able to stop Chris.
Howard Sample’s eyes filled with fear as he looked at Chris.
Chris raised his head, meeting Howard Sample’s gaze with a cold smile. “I told you before,” Chris said, his voice like ice. “I killed your father, and today, I’ll kill you.”
“You think you can kill me?” Howard Sample roared. “The entire ship is mine! Do you really think you can walk out of here alive? You’re dreaming!”
Clatter! Clatter! Clatter!
More Hall of Valerian members flooded in, surrounding Chris on all sides.
Chris bent down and picked up a discarded firearm. Without hesitation, he opened fire on the advancing guards.
Rat-tat-tat!
Chris’s aim was flawless. The Hall of Valerian members stood no chance.
In just a few minutes, over a hundred of them lay dead in pools of blood.
When the last of them had fallen, Chris turned his head, only to find that Howard Sample had escaped in the chaos.
Chris sneered.
The ship wasn’t that large. No matter where Howard Sample ran, there’d be nowhere to hide.
Howard Sample had to die. If left alive, he would only continue aiding Daniel Williams in his atrocities.
Frankly, Howard Sample should have been dead long ago. Chris had spared his life once before, and this was how he repaid him.
Howard Sample had escaped prison, only to engage in acts that defied all morality.
Chris would not let him go this time.
He immediately gave chase, quickly making his way to the ship’s deck.
Suddenly, a dangerous aura enveloped him.
“Chris!”
Howard Sample’s voice rang out. He stood not far away, holding a heavy firearm aimed squarely at Chris.
Chris turned to face him, his lips curling into a mocking smile. “Howard Sample, I’m curious-where do you think you can run?”
Howard Sample’s face was grim. “Chris, I’ll admit you’ve grown stronger. Not even dozens of armed Hall of Valerian members could stop you. But killing me won’t be as easy as you think. Today, I’ll kill you and finally avenge my father!”
“Revenge?” Chris sneered. “And you think that little toy in your hands is enough to kill me?”
“Humph!” Howard Sample snorted coldly. “Don’t be so arrogant, Chris. I know how strong you are. Killing you won’t be easy, which is why I’ve prepared a little surprise for you.”
With that, Howard Sample opened a cage.
Roar! Roar! Roar!
A cacophony of beast-like roars erupted.
One by one, monstrous super soldiers emerged from the cage.
Their blood-red eyes glowed with a savage intensity, their forms barely human.
Chris’s eyes narrowed as he took in the sight.
He had been right all along-Howard Sample had sided with Daniel Williams, helping him continue his grotesque experiments on super soldiers.
Chris had thought he’d destroyed the Hall of Valerian headquarters and put an end to Daniel Williams’ plans.
But Daniel Williams had persisted.
This monster, Daniel Williams, had turned humans into beasts-an atrocity that defied all reason.
And Howard Sample, this wretched coward, had helped capture the victims for these experiments. For that, he, too, was beyond redemption.
