Leonard Frost sneered at Caspian and said, “The Emberwood Estate has been here for many years, severely affecting the surrounding environment. According to the decision of the relevant authorities, it will be demolished.”
Caspian cursed angrily, “What nonsense! The Emberwood Estate belongs to Archer Wintersong. Which department dares to order its demolition? This is clearly your doing! And right now, the owner of Emberwood Estate is Chris-you all know that perfectly well.”
Leonard Frost’s expression turned cold. “Caspian, this matter doesn’t concern you. I advise you to stay out of it.”
“Hmph!” Caspian snorted and replied, “Leonard Frost, Archer Wintersong was an old friend of mine, and Chris is one of the younger generation I value most. If you’re thinking of demolishing the Emberwood Estate, I won’t stand idly by.”
Others might fear Leonard Frost, but Caspian certainly didn’t.
“You old fool…” Leonard Frost glared at Caspian, gritting his teeth in anger.
No matter what, the Emberwood Estate had to go today. Chris had killed Leonard’s grandson, and with Chris gone, there was no reason for the estate to remain standing.
Swish! Swish!
Suddenly, two figures darted forward.
They were none other than Eagle Noire and Eamon Rivers. These two were the masterminds behind the plan to demolish the Emberwood Estate.
Eamon Rivers looked at Caspian and said calmly, “Caspian, are you trying to stop us from demolishing the Emberwood Estate?”
Caspian glanced at Eamon Rivers, his face showing a hint of apprehension.
Caspian knew exactly who Eamon Rivers was. He was Ethan Stone’s apprentice. And if Eamon Rivers was here, did that mean Ethan Stone was involved too?
Ethan Stone was one of Amerosia’s most powerful figures, now in charge of the Dragon Order, and closely aligned with Daniel Williams. Even Caspian had to tread carefully around someone of Ethan Stone’s stature.
Gritting his teeth, Caspian said, “The Emberwood Estate was once the property of Archer Wintersong, the Imperial Mentor of Amerosia. He later gifted it to Chris, the Amerosia Primus. Now that both Archer Wintersong and Chris are gone, you’re trying to take advantage and tear it down?”
Eamon Rivers chuckled coldly. “You know better than I do where Archer Wintersong went. That place is a death trap-he’s likely long dead. As for Chris, the world’s top assassin, Judge, knocked him off a cliff. His fate is most likely sealed. Even if Chris is alive, I’ll still demolish the Emberwood Estate today!”
Hearing Eamon Rivers’ words, Caspian’s expression darkened. He could see that Eamon Rivers and the others were targeting Chris by destroying the estate.
Leonard Frost smirked smugly and said, “Caspian, I told you not to interfere. You’re old now. Our strength is beyond what you can handle. Men, demolish the Emberwood Estate!”
As his command rang out, a large group of workers began preparing to tear down the estate.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
Suddenly, a group of Vance family guards appeared, blocking the path to the Emberwood Estate.
Armed with weapons, they stood ready, their eyes fixed warily on Leonard Frost and his men.
“Caspian, are you looking for death?”
Seeing Caspian’s resistance, Eamon Rivers’ expression grew even darker.
“Caspian, don’t think that just because you were once Amerosia’s Marshal, I’ll fear you. Today, I’ll show you my strength!”
Swish!
With those words, Eamon Rivers lunged at Caspian.
His speed was incredible, closing the distance in an instant. Eamon Rivers threw a powerful punch aimed directly at Caspian’s head, clearly intending to kill him with a single strike.
Caspian snorted coldly, preparing to counter the attack.
But before he could react, a figure suddenly darted forward.
Eamon Rivers’ face changed drastically as he sensed the immense strength radiating from the newcomer.
Boom!
In a flash, the two figures collided, their fists clashing with a deafening impact.
Both were forced to step back several paces.
Once Eamon Rivers regained his footing, he finally saw who his opponent was.
The figure was clad entirely in red, exuding an intimidating aura.
Eamon Rivers scowled. “Who are you?”
The man in red snorted. “I am Red, captain of the Emberwood Guards. Did you think you could demolish the Emberwood Estate without consulting us first?”
Upon hearing that this was the captain of the Emberwood Guards, Eamon Rivers’ expression turned grim.
He had nearly forgotten about the Emberwood Guards-highly skilled protectors personally trained by Archer Wintersong. With them here, demolishing the estate was clearly impossible.
Realizing this, Eamon Rivers grunted coldly. “Let’s go!”
With that, he turned and left.
Eagle Noire cast a deep glance at Red and the other guards before following Eamon Rivers.
As they departed, Leonard Frost’s face darkened.
They had believed that demolishing the Emberwood Estate would be a simple task. No one had expected the Emberwood Guards to step in.
Seeing Eagle Noire and Eamon Rivers leave, Leonard Frost decided not to stay and humiliate himself further. He, too, led his men away.
Watching their retreating figures, Caspian’s expression remained grim.
At that moment, Esther and Candace arrived.
Esther looked at Caspian with gratitude. “Mr. Vance, thank you. If it weren’t for you, the Emberwood Estate would’ve been destroyed today. If that happened, I wouldn’t know how to face Chris when he returns.”
Caspian smiled. “No need to thank me! Even if I weren’t here, Leonard Frost and the others wouldn’t have succeeded. The Emberwood Guards wouldn’t allow it.”
He wasn’t exaggerating. With the Emberwood Guards in place, the estate was well protected.
“Sigh.” Caspian sighed. “Although Leonard Frost and the others have left for now, there’s no telling when they’ll return. And who knows when Chris will return to Middleton. I’ll assign a few people to keep watch here. If anything happens, they’ll notify you immediately.”
Esther nodded. “Mr. Vance, I’ll stay here at the Emberwood Estate tonight.”
Caspian nodded in agreement and arranged for over a hundred guards to ensure her safety.
Turning to Candace, he asked, “Candace, will you return with me?”
Candace shook her head. “No, Grandpa. I’ll stay here with Esther tonight.”
Worried about leaving Esther alone, Candace decided to stay.
Caspian nodded. “Alright then.”
He trusted the Emberwood Guards to ensure their safety.
With that, Caspian left with his men.
