Eamon Rivers wore a look of disdain as he spoke. “Mr. Noire, there’s no need to worry. I came here specifically to help the Noire family kill Chris. I know Chris once crippled young master Blake Noire. That’s a humiliation your family cannot tolerate. Don’t you want revenge?”
Hearing this, Honor Noire’s face darkened.
Blake Noire was his son, now turned into a cripple by Chris. How could he not want vengeance? But Chris’s strength was undeniable, and killing him would be no easy task.
Seeing Honor Noire remain silent, Eamon Rivers pressed on. “Mr. Noire, I hope you won’t hesitate any longer. Chris is a poison, a disaster for Middleton and the ten noble families. Do you want the Noire family to follow in the footsteps of the Frost family?”
Honor Noire clenched his teeth and finally spoke. “Fine. The Noire family will join forces with you to kill Chris!”
Turning to his son, Honor Noire commanded, “Eagle, I’m entrusting this matter to you. Make sure you kill Chris.”
Eagle Noire nodded solemnly. “Don’t worry, Father. I won’t fail you.”
Seeing Honor Noire agree, a smug smile crept onto Eamon Rivers’ face. With the power of the Noire family on his side, Chris’s death was certain. And once Chris was gone, Eamon could finally avenge his brother.
Meanwhile, Chris was at the hospital, caring for Candace.
Even though the hospital had professional staff to look after her, Chris was uneasy and insisted on being there every day.
As Chris helped Candace turn in bed, a piece of paper slipped under the door.
Chris picked it up and read the note:
“Chris, if you want to save Candace, come to the botanical garden.”
Frowning, Chris stared at the note.
He had no idea who had sent it, but the mention of Candace left him no choice. He had to go.
Leaving the room, Chris instructed the Emberwood Guards stationed outside to ensure Candace’s safety.
Half an hour later, Chris arrived at the botanical garden.
It was 11 p. m., and the garden was eerily empty. Tall trees surrounded him, creating a serene yet foreboding atmosphere. But Chris had no interest in the scenery.
As he walked deeper into the garden, he spotted a figure standing beneath a large tree.
Chris narrowed his eyes. “Who are you?”
The figure turned, revealing a familiar face. A grin spread across his lips. “Chris, it’s been a while.”
“Eagle Noire?” Chris was taken aback.
“What are you doing here?”
Eagle Noire sneered. “Chris, you killed Hollow Frost and gravely injured Hanh Sterling. You’ve shown no respect for the Dragon Order. I’ve been ordered by the leader of the Dragon Order to take you in and subject you to its laws.”
Hollow Frost and Hanh Sterling were both members of the Dragon Order.
By killing Hollow Frost and wounding Hanh Sterling, Chris had openly challenged the organization.
Now, it seemed Eagle Noire was here to settle that score.
Chris wasn’t sure if this was truly the Dragon Order’s will, but if it was, it had to be Ethan Stone’s command, as he led the organization.
Chris smirked coldly. “I knew the Dragon Order wouldn’t let this go. But Hollow Frost’s death was his own doing. If he hadn’t imprisoned Seraphina, I wouldn’t have killed him!”
Eagle Noire scoffed. “Hollow Frost’s death is irrelevant. My mission is clear-I’m here to kill you!”
“So, this is Ethan Stone’s command,” Chris said, his tone icy. “In that case, there’s nothing more to discuss.”
Eagle Noire roared, “Chris, die!”
With a flash, Eagle Noire lunged at Chris, his speed like lightning.
Chris narrowed his eyes. It was clear Eagle Noire, the most formidable of the Middleton Four, was even stronger than Hollow Frost.
But Chris wasn’t afraid.
Without wasting words, Chris clenched his fist and struck out.
Eagle Noire, however, was quick to evade the punch, moving with near-supernatural speed.
Chris’s attack missed, and he couldn’t help but feel a flicker of surprise.
Eagle Noire’s speed and combat experience were remarkable. In an instant, he analyzed the situation and adjusted his movements.
Chris took a deep breath. This wouldn’t be an easy fight.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The two clashed fiercely, their battle lighting up the night. It was an even match, neither gaining the upper hand for a time.
Chris gritted his teeth and summoned all his strength, delivering a devastating punch.
Bang!
The impact sent Eagle Noire flying.
Blood sprayed from his mouth as he was thrown back over ten meters before he managed to steady himself.
Wiping the blood from the corner of his lips, Eagle Noire shot Chris a sharp look before retreating.
In moments, he disappeared into the night.
Watching Eagle Noire’s retreating figure, Chris frowned. Something didn’t feel right.
From their fight, Chris could tell Eagle Noire was a formidable opponent, far stronger than he had initially appeared.
Yet, Eagle Noire hadn’t fought with his full strength. His sudden retreat was puzzling.
At the same time, Eagle Noire returned to the Noire family estate.
Seeing him injured, Eamon Rivers was shocked. “What happened? Are you hurt?”
Eagle Noire’s face was pale, drained of all color.
He sighed heavily. “Chris is too powerful. I’m no match for him.”
Eamon Rivers’ expression turned grim. “What? Even you can’t defeat Chris?”
Eagle Noire’s strength was well-known to Eamon Rivers.
As the leader of the Middleton Four and a standout member of the Dragon Order, Eagle Noire was a force to be reckoned with.
For Chris to overpower him so thoroughly was almost unthinkable.
Suddenly, Eagle Noire coughed violently, blood trickling from his lips.
Chris’s punch had been devastating, leaving him with internal injuries he could barely contain.
