“Ha ha ha!”
Light Sin laughed triumphantly. “Chris, oh Chris, I never thought I’d see you like this!”
Chris raised his head, his gaze steady as he looked at Light Sin. “Light Sin, I’ve already destroyed my cultivation. You should let her go.”
“Let her go?” Light Sin sneered. “Chris, you killed my brother. Did you really think I would let this go so easily? Go to hell!”
With a roar, Light Sin charged at Chris, sword in hand, slashing straight for him.
From Light Sin’s perspective, Chris, having destroyed his own cultivation, was no longer a threat. Killing him would be effortless.
But as Light Sin closed the gap, Chris’s eyes glimmered with a sudden, piercing light.
Then, out of nowhere, a powerful aura erupted from Chris’s body.
Chris drew the Dragon Slayer, his blade gleaming with menace, and struck with a ferocious slash.
Boom!
The sound echoed as Light Sin was sent flying backward.
Thud!
He hit the ground hard, blood spurting from his mouth as he struggled to stand, his face filled with disbelief.
“Chris… you tricked me?” Light Sin gritted his teeth.
He couldn’t comprehend it-Chris hadn’t destroyed his cultivation at all. Everything had been a ruse to deceive him.
But how? He was certain Chris had destroyed his dantian!
Suddenly, a chilling thought crossed his mind. There was a legend about Chris-stories of how he had mastered the Dragon Script. Could it be… was this the power of the Dragon Script?
As Light Sin wrestled with his confusion, Chris’s voice cut through, dripping with derision. “You lost because you’re nothing but a fool.”
“Chris, I’ll kill you!”
Enraged by the mockery, Light Sin snapped. Gripping his sword tightly, he charged at Chris once more.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The clash of steel reverberated as the two men exchanged blows in a fierce battle.
“Die!” Chris roared, his blade slicing cleanly through Light Sin’s arm.
“Ahhh!” Light Sin screamed, his face twisting in agony. Rage and desperation filled his eyes.
“Chris, I’ll take you down with me!”
Suddenly, with his remaining hand, Light Sin drew a concealed firearm from his waist and fired a shot at Chris.
Bang!
The gunshot rang out, and the bullet sped toward Chris.
Caught off guard by the unexpected attack and their close proximity, Chris hesitated-he couldn’t dodge in time.
“No!”
A desperate scream pierced the air as Candace threw herself in front of Chris.
Thud!
Blood sprayed from her mouth as the bullet tore through her abdomen.
Chris froze, his eyes wide with disbelief. He couldn’t fathom what had just happened. Candace… she had taken the bullet for him?
“Candace! Candace!” Chris shouted, cradling her in his arms. His voice was filled with anguish.
“Why? Why would you do this?”
Candace smiled weakly, her face pale. “Chris… I would do anything for you… willingly.”
With those words, her eyes fluttered shut, and she lost consciousness.
“No! No! No!”
Chris’s roar echoed, filled with rage and despair. A terrifying aura of killing intent erupted from him, suffocating the air around them.
Sensing Chris’s loss of control, Light Sin seized the opportunity. Clutching his sword with his remaining hand, he lunged at Chris’s heart.
But Chris turned, his bloodshot eyes locking onto Light Sin. He looked like a wounded beast, a predator pushed to the brink.
“Die!”
With a deafening roar, Chris swung the Dragon Slayer. The strike landed with devastating force.
Boom!
Light Sin was sent flying once more, crashing to the ground.
Chris advanced, his blade dripping with blood. Step by step, he closed in on Light Sin, who tried to stand, only to be met with another slash.
One strike.
Another.
And another.
Slash! Slash! Slash!
Blood gushed from Light Sin’s body as Chris’s relentless blows left him gravely injured.
Light Sin, trembling with fear, looked up at Chris. In his eyes, Chris was no longer human-he was a monster, a demon incarnate.
Panic set in. He had to escape.
If he didn’t, he would die here.
Without hesitation, Light Sin turned and fled.
But Chris was faster. Within moments, he caught up to him.
“You dared to harm my friends. Your crime is unforgivable!”
With a mighty swing of the Dragon Slayer, Chris brought the blade down with finality.
The strike severed Light Sin’s head cleanly from his body.
Thud!
The head rolled to the ground as a geyser of blood erupted from his neck.
Light Sin’s lifeless body collapsed with a heavy thud.
And with that, the Hall of Valerian’s Light Sin and Dark Sin were no more, both slain by Chris’s hand.
“Die! Die! Die!”
Even though Light Sin was dead, Chris continued to hack at his corpse, reducing it to a mangled mess of flesh and blood.
The air reeked of blood, heavy and suffocating.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Two figures approached swiftly from the distance.
It was Seraphina and Lord Valerian. They had rushed to the scene, worried about Chris’s safety.
When they arrived and saw the carnage-Light Sin’s remains reduced to a pile of unrecognizable gore-their faces paled.
Seraphina ran toward Chris, shouting, “Mr. Shelby, calm down!”
At her words, Chris finally stopped, his ragged breathing filling the silence.
Though Chris didn’t love Candace, he was consumed by guilt.
He had caused her father’s death, taken her company, and yet Candace had always remained loyal to him.
And now, she had been injured because of him. How could he not lose control?
Lord Valerian stepped forward, his expression grim. “Chris, I understand your pain, but Candace needs medical attention immediately.”
Lord Valerian, who had betrayed Amerosia years ago to avenge his wife, knew all too well the torment of loss.
Hearing his words, Chris wasted no time. He carried Candace and left in a hurry.
Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!
At the base of the mountain, the sound of roaring engines echoed.
A convoy of dark green Humvees approached, led by Caspian and James.
When James learned that Candace had been kidnapped by Light Sin, he immediately informed his grandfather.
Caspian, upon discovering that his beloved granddaughter was in danger, had mobilized an army without hesitation.
But they were too late.
Candace had already been shot.
Without delay, they rushed her to the best hospital in Middleton.
At the hospital, Chris and the others anxiously waited outside the operating room.
Sitting on a chair, Chris was consumed by regret.
If it weren’t for him, Candace wouldn’t have been kidnapped. She wouldn’t have been shot.
It was all his fault.
He was the one who had brought this upon her.
