Chapter 1182

He didn’t even dare to ask, but he wanted to know. He was afraid his son would be permanently disabled…
Sylvia shook her head. “I performed the surgery. Rest assured, he won’t be disabled or crippled. As long as I did the surgery, I won’t let anything go wrong.”
“That’s great… that’s great… thank you, thank you.” Geoff, the middle-aged man, immediately teared up and couldn’t help but wipe the tears from the corners of his eyes.
He hadn’t cried when he learned about his son’s car accident, nor during the long wait for the surgery.
However, at the moment he knew his son was safe, he could no longer control his emotions, and his eyes became moist.
Perhaps… this is true fatherly love.
Silent and great…
After resting for a while, Sylvia felt a bit better and struggled to get out of Franklin’s arms.
A few doctors from the emergency room came over after sending Jasper to the ICU, looking somewhat emotional. “The patient’s knees were completely shattered. Normally, they break into three or two pieces, which is easier to handle. But the patient’s knees shattered into countless pieces. In this situation, Dr. Sylvia managed to piece all the fragments together.”
“There can’t be any displacement, or it will hinder recovery.”
“It wasn’t easy! We wanted to give up twice, but Sylvia insisted on piecing them all together.”
“Dr. Sylvia, you are truly a role model for us.”
“Everyone has worked hard. Go and rest,” Sylvia said with a faint smile. “I haven’t had lunch yet, and I’m a bit hungry now.”
“Let’s go eat then. Since Jasper is in the ICU, let’s all go out for a meal,” Franklin suggested, looking at Geoff and Mrs. Howlett. “Mr. and Mrs. Howlett, there are caregivers here, so you don’t need to worry.”
Hearing the doctors’ words, the couple felt more at ease. No matter what, their child was still alive. He just needed to rest and recover in the coming months; his brain and internal organs were fine.
That was better than anything.
Feeling a bit better, the couple realized they were hungry.
“If Sylvia hadn’t mentioned it, I wouldn’t have noticed that I’m hungry too,” Mrs. Howlett said, wiping her tears. “Honey, Evie, let’s go eat.”
Evie, who had been worried all along, finally felt relieved. She looked at Sylvia with gratitude and couldn’t help but hold her hand. “Sylvia, thank you. Thank goodness for you.”
“We’re family. When I met you, you were just a teenager. How could I let your husband be in trouble?” Sylvia held her hand back.
“Besides, Jasper and Franklin are good friends. No matter what, I wouldn’t let anything happen to him. He just needs to rest and recover.”
“When the bones heal enough, he’ll need rehabilitation. That’s a minor issue.”
“No matter what, thank you,” Geoff finally smiled. “Let’s go to Cloud Restaurant; this meal is on me.”
So Evie gave instructions to the caregivers before the family left the emergency department.
Just in case, they hired three caregivers to guard the ICU door.
After eating at Cloud Restaurant, the elderly couple felt sorry for their grandson staying in the hospital all day and asked Evie to take Jaime home to rest.
The elderly couple stayed at the hospital while Evie insisted on staying because she was younger and had more energy.
With three caregivers also watching over him, the elderly couple finally agreed to go home with Jaime.
Franklin took Sylvia back to the Hipps Family residence, where everyone was anxiously waiting.
When they saw them return, they all rushed over.
“How is Mr. Howlett?”
“Is he okay? Is he in any danger?”
Franklin interrupted their questions. “Sylvia is very tired and needs rest.”
“Alright, alright. Sylvia, you should rest first,” Queena said worriedly as she looked at Sylvia’s pale face. “Oh dear, you look so pale. You must be exhausted.”
Franklin took Sylvia upstairs and tucked her in before kissing her on the lips. “Rest well; I’ll go downstairs.”
Sylvia responded softly and closed her eyes.
When Franklin went back downstairs, the Hipps Family was preparing dinner.
Queena was instructing the kitchen to make nutritious meals that were good for the brain.
“Sylvia’s work is not only physically demanding but also mentally exhausting. So… make sure to prepare walnut shrimp and almond tea…”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Queena wasn’t satisfied and had Austin search online for brain-boosting recipes to give to the kitchen before she felt reassured.
When she turned around and saw Franklin coming downstairs, she quickly asked, “Franklin, what do you want to eat? I’ll have the kitchen prepare it.”
“I can eat anything. I’m not picky,” Franklin replied gently.
If Jasper were here, he would have been shocked and stared at him in disbelief. You? Not picky? How could you say that?
But… Jasper was still in the hospital.
In about ten minutes, Franklin explained Jasper’s situation to the Hipps Family members, who couldn’t help but sigh after hearing it.
“Mr. Howlett really faced an unexpected disaster.”
“Such a good person; how could fate be so unkind?”
“Luckily, Sylvia is skilled and saved him.”
After a few comments, Austin interrupted them. “When Mr. Howlett is out of ICU in a few days, we should visit him. It’s only right.”
“Yes,” Clare agreed and looked at Franklin. “By the way, Franklin, I heard you and Sylvia are going to attend the Fire Dance Festival in Middle Evroya. So…”
“This has been decided; we still have to go. We’re not just representing ourselves but also our diplomatic relations. So… we can’t back out.” Franklin was somewhat worried about Jasper.
Queena was more open-minded. “If the Howlett family needs help, can’t our Hipps Family spare a few people? You and Sylvia go on your trip; we’ll visit the hospital more often.”
Dinner would be ready in about an hour, so Franklin didn’t stay idle and went to the kitchen to learn how to cook from the servants.
Queena tried to persuade him to come out but heard him say, “I need to cook for Sylvia in the future; I can’t always let her cook for me.”
Clare quickly joined him after hearing that. “Franklin is right; I should learn too.”
So the two young masters stayed in the kitchen and couldn’t be pulled out.
“Oh dear, Mollie and Sylvia are lucky,” Austin said with a smile; nothing was better than family harmony.
The servants were quite nervous with the two young masters in the kitchen; their strong presence made it hard for them to work.
Fortunately, Clare was very approachable. “Just instruct us; teach us simple dishes like scrambled eggs with tomatoes or steak.”
“We’re preparing homemade dishes tonight, so no steak,” the chef chuckled. “How about you two wash some vegetables and peel some onions? Apprentices start with washing and cutting vegetables.”
“Alright then.” Clare grabbed some onions and gave Franklin some greens.
After sleeping for over an hour, Sylvia woke up and saw a table full of dinner dishes.
Two dishes looked particularly unappetizing; she wondered why since Hipps Family chefs usually made visually appealing and tasty food.
This was the first time she saw such unattractive dishes…
“Are these dishes…”
She didn’t finish her sentence, fearing the chef might get punished; after all, everyone has off days.
As soon as she sat down, Clare laughed heartily and proudly introduced one dish like showing off a treasure. “I made this scrambled eggs with tomatoes.”
Sylvia examined it; the tomatoes were mushy, and the eggs… also mushy. Whoever cooked this must have stirred vigorously to make it look like this…
“And don’t tell me this one was made by Franklin.”
“Sylvia, you’re so smart! This is indeed Franklin’s work,” Clare said excitedly. “Scallion tofu salad.”
Such a simple dish… Sylvia wondered how he managed it; large chunks of tofu with unevenly cut scallions looked quite unappetizing.
Unable to genuinely praise them, she finally said, “Not bad for a first attempt.”
She guessed correctly that Franklin must have cooked that steak on the hot air balloon himself.
“Encouraging,” she smiled at Franklin. “There’s room for improvement. Keep it up.”
Franklin rarely looked away; his ears turned slightly pink as Sylvia’s sudden praise made his heart race and breath quicken.
In the future… he definitely needed more practice in cooking.
After a nap, Sylvia looked much better and more energetic.
She immediately noticed that most of the dishes on the table were brain-boosting foods; it was obvious Queena had specifically instructed this.
“Sylvia dear, you mustn’t overwork yourself,” Queena said as she placed some walnuts on Sylvia’s plate. “Luckily Mr. Howlett just needs rest now. Life is unpredictable; anything can happen at any time.”
Sylvia thanked her softly and ate the walnuts.
Just as she took a couple of bites, her phone rang.
It was Adriel from Crown Techs Group calling. “Sylvia, we’ve repaired your tablet. What’s on it?”
