They actually donated so many treasures and artifacts to the museum? This selfless act surprised the President.
“Are you really going to donate all of this?”
Franklin and Fatima nodded. Despite Franklin’s cold demeanor, his words carried warmth.
“Keeping them with us would just be for idle amusement, but placing them in a museum allows countless future generations to study and learn from them. This… should be considered a meaningful thing to do.”
“Hmph! This must be another one of that cunning girl’s tricks, trying to make me acknowledge her as my daughter-in-law! Wishful thinking. I can accept the items, but as for her being my daughter-in-law, she still needs to be observed.” The President paced back and forth in front of the boxes.
Franklin’s lips twitched. This middle-aged man was as confident and narcissistic as ever.
He didn’t want to look at the President for another minute. “I’m heading back.”
The President got angry upon hearing this and glared at him, muttering incessantly.
“Hey, why are you leaving? You just got back! Do you know how busy I’ve been these days? I’ve been working late into the night every day…”
“So why are you the President and not me?” Franklin smirked. “Don’t you have a good brother? You can let him help you; he’s so capable and excellent, and you trust him deeply.”
“You!” The President was furious. “You brat, you come back just to annoy me. Can’t you say something nice?”
“I thought I did, complimenting both your son and you.” Franklin turned and left without paying him any more attention.
“If you leave, don’t come back! Why do you come back just to irritate me?” The President shouted angrily.
As Franklin exited the President’s office, he ran into Isaac. The man was dressed in a suit, looking very dignified.
“Franklin, you’re back?”
Franklin looked at him indifferently without responding.
Isaac continued talking to himself, “Why are you so capricious? You’re an adult and still playing disappearing acts. Father is very angry. He’s getting old; what if he gets sick from anger?”
Speaking with the tone of an elder brother, Franklin felt disgusted as if he had swallowed two flies.
What right did he have?
Did he really think he was something special?
Franklin smiled coldly, “He’s in great shape. But are you hoping something bad happens to him? Outsiders might think you’re cursing him!”
Isaac was momentarily speechless with anger. How dare Franklin accuse him of cursing the President?
If this reached the President’s ears and got exaggerated, he would definitely be misunderstood.
“Excuse me, dear brother.” Franklin brushed past Isaac.
Isaac narrowed his eyes at Franklin’s back, biting his molars in anger. His secretary whispered, “Mr. Carr, Mr. Maskelyne is clearly twisting your words on purpose.”
Isaac sneered and headed straight for the President’s office.
For the past ten days, he had been diligently assisting the President, taking on many duties. He believed that Franklin’s sudden departure had left a very negative impression on the President.
Given time, if he worked harder, he could definitely shake Franklin’s position in the President’s heart.
Franklin’s recent jabs were clearly because he had been reprimanded by the President and was in a bad mood.
With this thought, Isaac decided not to hold a grudge against Franklin for twisting his words.
However, when he stepped into the President’s office, he was shocked!
He stared in disbelief at the several boxes in the middle of the office.
The boxes were old, clearly having some years on them.
Several bodyguards were busy sealing the boxes.
But he still saw what was inside-artifacts? They couldn’t just be called antiques; they were priceless works of art!
Why were there so many treasures in the President’s office?
He was puzzled when he heard the President’s delighted voice, “Come over and take a look. These were brought by Franklin and Sylvia. They had quite a fruitful trip and brought me such a big surprise.”
Isaac almost had a heart attack from anger.
Franklin?
Sylvia?
Artifacts they brought back?
These two! Damn it.
Where did they get so many artifacts from, and why did they bring them back for the President?
He was speechless.
“Oh, I’m planning to send them to the museum for archaeologists to study before putting them on display for everyone to see.” The President handed a porcelain piece to Isaac. “Look at this; isn’t it exquisite?”
Isaac forced a smile, moving his gaze from the porcelain to the President. “Father, it is indeed exquisite. I wonder which dynasty it’s from.”
“Franklin said it’s over a thousand years old, but I’m not sure exactly when.” The President was still overjoyed, showing off happily. “In any case, it’s a treasure. Hahaha!”
So… Franklin wasn’t scolded at all? He was praised? Look at how these treasures made the President happy.
Isaac felt all his efforts over the past few days were in vain compared to these lifeless objects Franklin brought back.
Infuriating!
Absolutely infuriating!
“There are five full boxes!” The President held Isaac’s arm. “Do you see anything you like? Want to pick a few? There’s plenty here; we don’t have to send everything to the museum.”
Isaac felt humiliated by these words as if they were mocking him for not being as capable as Franklin in bringing back so many artifacts.
Suppressing his anger, he said calmly, “No need. These artifacts would be wasted in my hands; donating them to the museum is best.”
“Oh my, such high morals!” The President laughed and patted his shoulder before asking, “So, what brings you here?”
Isaac felt choked with anger.
After a while, he said, “You asked me to come.”
The President suddenly remembered. “Oh yes! There was something I needed you to do, but since Franklin is back, I’ll let him handle it. You’ve been working hard lately, staying up late with me. You need rest; I’ll give you two days off.”
“Thank you, Father.” Isaac didn’t expect this treatment from the President.
“Alright, go rest.” The President handed him a leave note. “I’ve seen your efforts recently. Both of you are my sons; I love you both equally. Franklin went too far this time; I’ve already scolded him well.”
Who are you kidding! Do you think I’m a child? Isaac thought bitterly.
But he said nothing and suppressed his emotions. “I finally get two days off; maybe I’ll go on a road trip.”
“Go ahead.” The President waved him off.
Once outside, Isaac crumpled the leave note tightly and threw it into the trash can with a cold glare.
Ridiculous!
Absolutely ridiculous!
Three days later, a news article shot to the top of trending topics.
#Princess Sharon’s Belongings#
#Millennia-old Artifacts Preserved#
Almost all of them were photos of artifacts brought back by Sylvia and Franklin, along with detailed descriptions.
There were also interviews with historians and archaeologists.
“These are items used by Princess Sharon a thousand years ago. She was deeply loved by Prince Javon. These items are exquisite and beautifully preserved. Many joke that Princess Sharon might have been a time traveler.”
“She greatly promoted agriculture and water management in Ashen Kingdom, accomplishing many great deeds. She wasn’t just Princess Sharon but also the only female prime minister of Ashen Kingdom at that time, working alongside Prince Javon for the benefit of the nation.”
“She was a legendary woman.”
Experts tirelessly introduced Princess Sharon’s history and these artifacts’ origins.
Sylvia watched intently from Hipps Family’s living room.
For days, TV and internet were flooded with reports about these artifacts.
“Sylvia, are these the items you donated to the museum?” Clare asked as he entered with a chill from outside.
Sylvia looked at him and noticed snow on his shoulders. “Is it snowing again?”
“Yes, it’s winter here; lots of snow.” Clare brushed off the snowflakes. “It’s really cold.”
He sat next to Sylvia curiously. “These artifacts are beautiful.”
“Princess Sharon had impeccable taste,” Sylvia smiled and continued watching TV.
When an ancient portrait appeared on screen, she froze.
Clare also froze.
The host’s voice continued, “This is the only preserved portrait of Princess Sharon from the royal family archives. Despite its age, we can still see her delicate features-a rare classical beauty.”
The painting was yellowed with age but clearly depicted Princess Sharon’s face.
