The girl’s resistance startled the old lady. “Why can’t you accept it? I told Tom’s grandfather on our wedding day that I would give it to my precious granddaughter-in-law. I didn’t even give it to my daughter-in-law, and I’ve been wearing it all these years.”
As she finished speaking, the old lady reached for the girl’s hand again. The girl looked helplessly at the man standing beside her.
“It’s okay, just accept it,” Tom said with a gentle smile. “It will make Grandma happy.”
In that moment, the grandmother slipped the ring onto the girl’s finger, symbolizing her affection and approval.
“Aunt Jane already gave me a bracelet…” The girl was too kind-hearted and felt unworthy of such gifts.
Grandma replied, “Why can you accept her gift but not mine?” She patted the girl’s hand gently without any blame. “You need to treat us equally, don’t you?”
The girl met Grandma’s gaze and pressed her lips together.
Williams and Jane, who were coming down the stairs, witnessed this scene and heard the conversation. They learned about the couple’s marriage registration and were pleased but also admired their courage.
Hearing footsteps, both looked up. “Dad, Mom.”
“Uncle, Aunt…”
“Why am I still ‘Aunt’?” Jane smiled warmly but with a hint of urgency. “Haven’t you registered your marriage?”
Williams looked spirited today in his custom-made black suit, with a slight smile on his face and in a good mood.
Before Agnes could speak, Williams addressed his wife, “You’re really something. You haven’t given her a red envelope for changing how she addresses you, yet you expect her to call you ‘Mom’ every day.”
“I’ve prepared one!” Jane was particularly happy as she took out a red envelope and handed it to Agnes with a graceful smile. Her skin looked remarkably good. “Summer, this is from me. I wish you happiness.”
It wouldn’t be proper to refuse a red envelope from her future mother-in-law. It seemed thin, so Agnes didn’t feel too burdened.
The girl politely accepted it with both hands but felt something inside… it was a card!
Agnes was shocked and unsure of what to do when Jane hugged her warmly. “Welcome to the Fritz family, Agnes. You are the future mistress of this house. Let’s maintain this home together.”
“Mom, thank you for your approval.” The girl hugged her back. “As a new wife and daughter-in-law, if I do anything wrong or don’t understand certain etiquettes, please point them out directly. I will correct myself and strive to be better, learning from you and Grandma.”
“Alright,” Jane agreed readily.
The old lady sitting on the sofa watched this scene with tears in her eyes. Reflecting on her life from marriage until now, decades had passed in a flash.
The warmth and happiness of a family are closely tied to its mistress.
A woman with good temperament, character, and wisdom can bring prosperity to a family and attract good fortune. There seems to be an invisible force that turns misfortunes into blessings.
That’s why the Fritz family firmly believed-harmony brings success.
Judging by her appearance, Agnes seemed like a good girl-kind-hearted and very emotional.
