The moonlight was beautiful tonight, a bright full moon hanging high in the sky as the car drove towards Agnes’s neighborhood. Tom held the steering wheel with one hand and reached out to her with the other.
The girl smiled sweetly and took his hand, their fingers interlaced, sharing a warmth that felt truly blissful. A fitting song played on the car stereo, evoking a sense of destiny intertwined for millennia-clear night breeze, gentle water flow, by the side of Tan River, like a touch of rosy light, a hint of red, a handful of moonlight, lifelong longing never forgotten.
Do you believe in fate? I do. Falling for someone at first sight means liking them for a very long time; it’s as if your soul recognizes them. If both are unmarried, what a great fortune that would be.
They didn’t speak much during the drive, but holding hands, listening to music, feeling the night breeze, and admiring the moonlight felt incredibly pleasant. Agnes didn’t ask him about his conversation with her father, and Tom didn’t bring it up either. Judging by his expression, her father hadn’t given him a hard time.
When they arrived at the apartment building, Tom turned to look at the girl beside him and asked, “Shall we get our marriage certificate tomorrow?”
The girl looked back at him, “Are you having second thoughts?”
“No, I’m just afraid you might.”
Their eyes met. Tom said earnestly, “No regrets in this life.”
Agnes nodded. “Alright then, tomorrow morning at eight o’clock, see you at the city hall.”
“See you there.”
When Tom said those words, they both laughed! Their smiles were filled with excitement, anticipation, and sweetness.
“Mr. Kitten, do you want to come up and see your cat?” Agnes asked sweetly while still holding his hand.
“Our cat,” Tom corrected.
The girl immediately changed her wording. “Yes, yes, our cat. Do you want to see it?”
Tom nodded, let go of her hand, unbuckled his seatbelt, and got out of the car. Agnes also got out and led him towards the apartment building. They took the elevator upstairs.
As soon as the door opened, Bubu ran towards them with a “meow~ meow!” Agnes bent down and the little one jumped right into her arms.
“Bubu, look who’s here!” she happily turned around and brought Bubu to Tom.
“Bubu,” Tom reached out and patted its head. Bubu excitedly leaped onto him from Agnes’s arms.
Agnes went to prepare some cat food for Bubu and washed her hands before pouring Tom a glass of juice. Tom played with the kitten for a bit before placing it in its bed. “Play by yourself,” he said before washing his hands.
“Here, have some orange juice.”
“Okay.” The man took it and bent down to place the glass on the coffee table without drinking immediately.
As he turned around, he accidentally stepped on Agnes’s slipper. She lost her balance and fell forward with an “Ah!”
They both ended up on the sofa! Tom quickly braced himself on either side of her to avoid crushing her!
But like a slow-motion scene in a movie, she lay back while his handsome face came down straight towards hers, his thin lips landing on her pink ones.
Their bodies pressed closely together; in that moment her heart nearly jumped out of her chest! Their eyes met at close range; Tom decided to kiss her lips.
This kiss was somewhat spontaneous and lingering. Just as his body reacted with youthful vigor-though she didn’t resist-his rational mind called for a stop!
