Tom blinked, caught off guard. She was just a girl-how could she be so bold? But he didn’t tease her. Instead, he frowned slightly, as if trying to piece something together. “Wait, weren’t you sleeping with me last night?”
The girl grinned, her eyes sparkling. “Yep! So tonight, we’re doing it again. No sofa for you.”
“Alright,” Tom said, giving in with a small smile. “Your call.”
Agnes tilted her head, studying him. “Did you spend the whole day in the lab again?”
She reached for his hand, her fingers brushing against his warm skin.
“Yeah,” Tom admitted, his tone serious but soft. “When I wrapped up, I had Jeffery pick you up.”
She glanced around the room before her gaze settled back on him, a playful smile tugging at her lips. “So, what’s the plan? Anything fun?”
Tom shook his head, honest as ever. “Nope. It’s your night. Wherever you want to go, whatever you want to do or eat, I’m all in. I’ve got three restaurants lined up for you to pick from.”
She pouted, feigning seriousness, then shook her head. “How about we just go home? Mrs. Brown can whip up some noodles, and we’ll share a cake with her. You’ve been working nonstop-you need to rest.”
Her love for him was simple, uncomplicated. She didn’t need grand gestures or fancy outings. As long as she was with him, she was content-even if it meant living like a beggar. Her heart was his, completely and selflessly.
Tom felt it, that warmth she radiated. He nodded, his voice gentle. “Alright. It’s your birthday. You decide.”
Agnes looked up at him, her face glowing with happiness, and closed her eyes, savoring the moment.
Tom didn’t need words to understand her. He leaned in, capturing her lips in a deep, tender kiss, pouring all his emotions into it. He’d fallen for her, hard. Every moment with her made him want to hold her closer, kiss her longer, never let go.
When they finally pulled apart, Agnes clung to him, her voice soft but earnest. “I love you, Mr. Kitten. So much.”
“Bubu,” Tom murmured, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “For you, I’ve decided to go back to Arkpool City after this project.”
Her eyes widened, and she pulled back slightly, excitement lighting up her face. “Really?!”
“Really,” he confirmed, his tone steady.
“When will you finish?” she asked, her big eyes blinking up at him. “Can we go back together?”
“That’s the plan. Four more days-can you wait for me?” He didn’t want her flying alone, not when he could be there with her. He’d pushed his schedule to the limit, all to stay by her side, to protect her, to be the boyfriend she deserved.
“Yes! Love you!” Agnes beamed, her hands cupping his face. She looked like a kid on Christmas morning, her joy infectious.
Tom’s gaze softened as he looked at her. “I love you more.”
“Let’s go home, then!” Agnes let go of his hand, already eager to move.
“Alright,” Tom agreed, turning to pack the cake. “Do you want to take this crescent lamp?”
“Of course! It’s gorgeous. It’ll look perfect in your bedroom.”
There was also the bouquet of fresh flowers he’d picked out just for her. She adored them-every single one.
