Agnes smiled sweetly at him. “Thanks.” She opened her mouth, savoring the moment as he fed her a bite of cake. After swallowing, she took the fork from his hand and scooped up another piece. “Mr. Kitten, do you usually go for cream?”
“Eh, I’m not picky,” Tom replied with a shrug. “As long as it’s you feeding me, I’ll eat anything.”
Her grin widened, and she held out the fork with another piece of cake. “Here, this one’s for you. Thanks for all your hard work!”
“No trouble at all. It’s my pleasure to celebrate Bubu’s birthday with you.”
Tom’s eyes softened, his usual maturity giving way to a boyish sparkle. He leaned in, catching the cake she offered with an eager bite.
“How is it?” Agnes asked, her voice warm. “Good?”
“Yeah,” Tom said, nodding seriously. “Sweetest cake I’ve ever had.”
She laughed softly. “Funny, I was just thinking the same thing.”
They took turns eating from the same fork, neither of them minding the shared intimacy.
Agnes glanced out the window, noticing how high the Ferris wheel had climbed. The distant villas were now in full view, their yards lit up like tiny dioramas.
She knew Ferris wheel rides didn’t last long, and moments like this always seemed to fly by.
They couldn’t just sit there eating cake-that’d be a waste.
She wanted to soak in the view, feel his heartbeat, and lean into his shoulder.
“How long does this ride last? Half an hour?” Agnes asked, turning to Tom. He’d bought the tickets, so he’d know.
Tom caught her drift. “Relax. We’ve got all night. I booked the whole place.”
Agnes blinked, surprised. Now that she thought about it, they hadn’t shown tickets when they entered. And there was no one else around-had he really reserved the entire Ferris wheel?
Would it just keep going? Could their cabin stay at the top forever, letting them take in the city’s nightscape for as long as they wanted?
Professor Fritz really didn’t hold back. And he claimed he didn’t know how to make a girl happy.
“But…” she hesitated, her heart fluttering with doubt. “How much did that cost?” She came from an ordinary family, after all.
Tom set the cake aside and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, gazing out the window. “It’s not about the cost. As long as you’re happy.” He turned to her, his eyes searching her face. “So… are you?”
As long as she liked it, it was worth every penny.
Agnes didn’t turn her head, but she could feel him beside her. Her heartbeat quickened; his face was so close she could almost feel his breath.
She could sense his gaze lingering on her profile.
When she finally turned to look at him, their noses were almost touching.
“I really like it,” she said softly, each word deliberate and sincere.
Tom’s smile deepened, reaching his eyes.
“There’s one more question you haven’t answered,” he murmured, his voice low and expectant.
The Ferris wheel climbed higher, nearing its peak.
“Will you be my girlfriend?” Tom asked again, his tone gentle but hopeful.
Their noses brushed now, their breaths mingling in the small, intimate space.
Agnes couldn’t hold back any longer. Her heart raced as she leaned in, pressing her lips to his in a soft, decisive kiss.
She answered him without words.
Tom cupped her face, his eyes closing as he deepened the kiss.
*Boom!*
Outside the window, a massive purple firework exploded, showering the sky with brilliant light.
*Boom! Boom!*
One after another, fireworks burst into vibrant colors and shapes, painting the night with dazzling brilliance.
The most spectacular show had begun, lighting up their romantic evening.
