Reiner – Her Big News

Book:Forbidden Heat R18 Published:2025-2-4

Figuring that there was no point in wondering about it, I quickly followed after her. Kat led me out to the small garden in front of the orphanage building before she urged for me to take a seat on the bench.
“What’s up with getting me all alone?” I asked teasingly.
Kat sat down next to me on the bench before she seemed to hesitate a little while she gathered her thoughts. Her hands were fidgeting with each other, and I could tell that she was nervous. I decided to wait for her in silence for her to be ready to tell me whatever it was that she wanted or needed to.
“The thing is…” Kat began before trailing off.
My eyes widened at her as my curiosity started taking over me. What does she want to tell me?
“Is something the matter? You can tell me anything, you know. I’ll help you for sure,” I told her reassuringly.
“Nothing is wrong. The thing is…Nick and I have decided to get married,” Kat finally confessed with a giddy look on her face.
…what?
I stared at her face before my hands flew to my mouth in shock. What did she just say?
She and Nick…really?
“Really?” I asked before my mouth dropped opened.
I honestly did not see this coming at all.
“Yeah. We’ve been dating a for a while now. Sorry that I didn’t tell you…” Kat admitted shyly.
I looked at her and I could tell that she was probably very in love with him. Nick seemed like a very sincere and dependable guy. He’s one of those nice guys and he surely was very different from the type of guys that Kat had dated in the past. I started smiling at the thought that Kat must have found the man for her. Nick won’t hurt her the ways that her exes did in the past, I was so certain of it.
“Wow…congratulations, Kat!” I exclaimed happily as I grabbed her hands in mine and squeezed it.
“Thank you. Thank you for inviting me here…” Kat thanked me with tears in her eyes.
Her tears tugged at my heart, and I felt my own tears sting the back of my eyes. I didn’t bother to stop these tears of joy. I wouldn’t mind crying along with Kat while congratulating her.
I pulled her into a hug and patted her back adoringly. Throughout the years that we’ve known each other, Kat had always been an honest and loyal friend. Her happiness meant my happiness as well.
“So, when’s the wedding?” I asked excitedly.
“Probably very soon. Like in less than a month. Don’t worry, you’re invited and we’re having it on the main island. He’s got friends there,” Kat replied with a smile.
That’s quite a rushed timeline. I couldn’t think of any reason for them to wait any longer if they wanted to marry one another so it felt so perfect. If the wedding was going to be on the main island, then that meant that I could join in for sure. Not that I was going to miss their wedding if it was held on this island, though.
“The sooner the better, right? There’s no point in waiting around,” I replied with a bright laugh.
“Well, about that…” Kat murmured.
“What is it?” I asked, curiously.
“Umm…there’s a good reason why we need to really rush things a bit,” Kat said as she started to blush.
“What is it?” I asked, cluelessly.
“You see…I’m already pregnant,” Kat admitted with a shy smile.
My eyes widened even further and this time I was even more shocked than the first.
“Don’t worry. It’s Nick’s” Kat teased me before she started laughing loudly at my reaction.
“Congratulations again, Kat. I can’t believe you’re getting married so soon and also becoming a mother too,” I teased her back.
I was very happy for her. Everything seemed to be going well for Kat even if things were progressing very fast.
“Thank you, Natalia. Nick is a very nice guy and he’s very happy that I’m pregnant. You can be my bridesmaid,” Kat said with a smile.
Now I could understand why she wanted to talk to me in private. This surely was very special news, and I was happy that she was sharing her joy with me.
“I’ll definitely be there at your wedding,” I promised before giving her another hug.
Kat hugged me back tightly while I prayed that her happiness would last forever because she more than deserved it. She’s been through quite a lot when it came to relationships with guys so I prayed even harder than before that she would be happy forever with Nick.

Later that night, after showering and preparing for bed, I realized that I haven’t had the chance to tell Reiner about the big news that Kat shared with me earlier. Since she chose to tell me in private, I didn’t want to risk exposing her news to other people, so I haven’t had a chance to tell Reiner about it.
“Kat asked to have a talk with me in private during dinner,” I told Reiner when we were laying side by side on the bed.
He turned on his side and looked straight at me before he smiled. I loved his smile. Just like always his smile seemed to have a calming effect on me.
“I saw that. Did something happen?” Reiner asked with concern.
“Nothing bad happened. We just talked but she did share some very big news with me,” I replied with a small laugh.
“What did she tell you?” Reiner asked and I could tell that he was slightly curious.
This news is going to surprise him as much as it surprised me.
“Kat told me that she and Nick are getting married,” I announced with a bright smile.
Reiner had an unreadable expression on his face before he nodded his head once in acknowledgement.
“It’s a little unexpected, huh?” I teased him a little.
“I guess…” Reiner murmured.
