We just got married…if he had already forgotten? Someone’s in a rush to become a grandfather…
“We haven’t really talked about that… so…I’m not sure if Knight wants to have children,” I replied a little hesitantly.
Surely, I felt like I was skating on very thin ice right now.
“It doesn’t matter if he wants to or not. It’s his responsibility to have children. That’s all,” King stated as he brushed off my concern completely.
His responsibility? Why am I still surprised…?
“Well…” I murmured.
“What about you? Do you want to have Knight’s children?” King asked, getting right to the point.
Knight’s children. Not just anyone’s children…not our children…not my children…but ‘Knight’s children’. His choice of words didn’t slip by my mind at all. If it didn’t matter whether Reiner wanted children or not, I guessed it didn’t matter to him whether I wanted to have children or not either. This was simply a trick question with only two answers and that was ‘yes and yes’.
I thought of Reiner’s beautiful red hair, his clear blue eyes and how he smiled at me, and I had to say that I wouldn’t mind having a little boy who would inherit exactly those features. Hopefully, the boy would speak and express himself more straightforwardly. Well, maybe he could inherit that from me instead. Without knowing it, I had probably spent many moments in my waking life daydreaming about our future children and what they would look or be like. Of course, I wanted to have Reiner’s children. Not just one but a bunch of them…
“Yes, I want to have his children. If he wants them…then of course…” I replied before ending with a smile.
“If you want children then I guess I can rest assured. That is more than half the battle won,” King said with a nod.
“How so…?” I asked, unable to hold back my curiosity.
“You can always convince your husband, or can’t you?” King asked as he arched an eyebrow questioningly at me.
“I guess…” I replied.
Actually, I could really see myself begging Reiner to make babies with me. It was a funny thought…
“Good. I’ll connect up with Knight on when I can expect my first grandchild to be born,” King said with a nod of satisfaction.
I could basically see in my mind an image of King ticking off his to-do list in a proud way. Grandchild coming right up…was what I wished I could say. In reality, it probably wasn’t going to be that simple. Sensing that the conversation was over, I quickly excused myself before heading out of the auditorium.
“I survived…wow…” I muttered under my breath as I leaned back against the closed door of the auditorium.
“Was it that bad?”
I turned to see Reiner leaning against a wall casually and realized that he must have waited all this time for me.
“It…wasn’t…” I managed to reply before I showed him one of my best smiles.
The distance between us disappeared in a blink of an eye and suddenly Reiner was standing right in front of me. He moved so fast that by the time that I lifted my face to gaze up into his face, his lips were already crushing down on mine. We were in the office building and standing right in a very public hallway where anyone could walk past us at any time but that didn’t stop me from kissing him back with urgency.
The feel of his lips on mine and his tongue dipping teasingly into the depth of my mouth was the best reward that I could have ever asked for.
…
I did mention that the very daring and passionate kiss in the hallway was the best reward but that wasn’t the only reward that Reiner decided to shower upon me for surviving the presentation and the one-on-one conversation with his father. Reiner invited me out to a very romantic dinner which I thought was more than slightly over-the-top.
The dinner venue on the cruise was so lavishly decorated that I felt quite underdressed and out of place in my standard office attire. While all the woman there were dressed to hunt for their prey for the night, I was dressed in a black suit with matching skirt. My make-up and hair weren’t much to look at either. I was busy staring at the other women and men who were seated around us that I didn’t notice Reiner’s eyes on me until he spoke up.
“Why are you so focused on other people when your husband is sitting right in front of you?” he asked as he showed me a bored and slightly annoyed face.
Unlike me, Reiner had probably kept his eyes on me all along. How cute…
“No one looks any better than my husband, don’t worry. I chose your purely based on your looks…” I replied back teasingly.
“Makes sense…” Reiner replied confidently as he decided to go along with my joke.
I laughed a little at him as I continued studying the menu that was in my hand. After placing our orders, the real conversation started.
“So, what did King say to you? He didn’t ask you to stay behind just to compliment you on your presentation skills, right?” Reiner asked knowingly.
Of course, King had things that he wanted to say.
“He did offer me some compliments. Give me some credit…” I muttered before I pouted playfully at him.
“He did? You should feel very proud of yourself. It’s rare for King to compliment anyone. I apologize for my father. He’s very strict and authoritative but he’s not a bad guy…” Reiner said, and he seemed quite surprised.
“There’s nothing for you to apologize for and I’m sure that your father is a great guy. I just…have to get used to him…I guess…” I replied while trying to look on the bright side.
“Don’t worry. I’m very sure that he’ll end up liking you if he doesn’t already,” Reiner said with confidence.
“Really? What makes you so sure?” I asked.
“Hmm…because I like you…” Reiner replied before he flashed me a very attractive smile.
I found myself blushing a little at his words. Hopefully things will work out for us and for our family in the future.
