I wasn’t sure what woke me up the next morning. It could have been the light from the morning shining against my closed eyelids, the sound of the wind rushing into the cave or the sore pain shooting through my limbs as I stirred.
“Good morning…”
My sleepy eyes opened and the sight of well-formed muscles of Reiner’s forearm greeted me. My eyes followed the curve of his arm before I turned my head back slightly to see Reiner smiling at me as he hugged me from behind. “I guess we’re not really in bed…” I mumbled softly.
“Missing your bed already?” Reiner replied.
His replied made me realize that I had spoken my thoughts out loud. Of course, he probably thought that I wasn’t making much sense. The memories of our long and passionate night together came flooding back and I blushed slightly at the feeling of my sore and probably slightly bruised but high satisfied body. The hanging rocks above also reminded me that I didn’t dream up last night. We were still inside the cave.
“Good morning…” I replied lazily.
I stroked my fingers along his forearm playfully just like how he was absentmindedly playing with a strand of my hair. Reiner kissed my ear softly and I couldn’t stop smiling like a fool. Marriage life felt so wonderful already and all I did was wake up in his arms. I turned around in his arms and hugged him tightly to me as I buried my face into his chest. The sound of his heartbeat sounded like a love song to my ears. His arm tightened around me, and I could feel his eyes on my face.
“Let’s stay like this forever…” I suggested as I kept my eyes closed.
“I actually like that idea; however, there’s someone that we need to meet. He should be here soon and hopefully with our clothes…” Reiner replied.
“Someone we have to meet?” I asked in slight confusion.
My mind was too sleepy to take in the new piece of information that he had imparted on me. Someone is coming? Who? Why?
“You’ll see. Get up, Natalia. You can’t meet anyone without any clothes on like this…” Reiner said, and I felt the warmth of his fingers stroking the side of my face.
“No…” I murmured as I hugged him tighter to me.
Reiner sighed loudly before he pulled me up with him into a sitting position. This is a disaster; my wonderful world is crumbling down already…
“Wake up, Natalia…” Reiner said a little more sternly than before.
He slowly shook my body to wake me while I determinedly kept my eyes closed as I leaned my head against his chest. It’s our first morning as husband and wife, so why can’t we sleep in. This is so unfair…
“I can’t even sleep in with you on my first morning as your wife?” I asked with my eyes still closed.
“You’re awake already if you can argue with me. Get dressed first and I’ll explain things to you,” Reiner said seriously.
I cried out in annoyance and frustration when he pushed my head away from his chest. My eyes snapped opened and I glared at him to show him how mad I was. Reiner just grinned at me before he got up and headed towards his discarded clothes and began putting it back on. When he was done, he picked up my bikini and the shawl and handed them to me.
“Get dressed now. Our visitor can turn up at any time now and I don’t want him to see you naked,” Reiner said, and I could tell that he was dead serious.
After puffing out a sigh, I took my clothes from him and started getting dressed. Reiner watched me with a satisfied look on his face before he started talking.
“There’s more?” I asked in total disbelief.
Reiner grinned at my reaction after he had just told me that there was more to the marriage ceremony on this island than what we had just gone through. We said our vows, had sex in a sacred cave in front of a weird looking hybrid statue and then we spent the entire night in the cave but there was supposed to be more that we had to do?
Really? Is this real or is he just playing games with me?
“Are you serious?” I asked again and then Reiner started laughing openly at my reaction.
