Lina paced her bedroom, her hand clutching the phone tightly. Her cheek still stung from Damian’s slap the night before, and her nerves were frayed after his outburst with the gun. She couldn’t stop shaking, the memory of the shot fired into the ceiling replaying in her mind.
“Damian has lost it,” she muttered under her breath. “He’s going to ruin everything.”
She paused, taking a deep breath before dialing a number she never thought she’d use. Her fingers trembled as she pressed the buttons, and the ringing on the other end made her stomach twist with unease.
Finally, the call connected, and a deep, cold voice answered.
“This is Lucas.”
Lina hesitated for a moment, her breath catching in her throat. “Lucas, it’s Lina,” she said, her voice softer than usual.
There was a pause on the other end before Lucas responded, his tone amused. “Well, well. Lina. To what do I owe the pleasure?”
“Damian,” Lina said quickly, her words tumbling over each other. “He’s… he’s coming for you.”
*****Lucas’s Calm*******
Lucas chuckled, the sound low and mocking. “Damian? Coming for me? How exciting. Tell me, Lina, why should I care?”
“You don’t understand,” Lina said, her voice rising slightly. “He’s not thinking straight. He’s dangerous. He knows about Aurora.”
The amusement in Lucas’s voice faded instantly. “What did you say?”
“He knows,” Lina repeated, her voice trembling. “He knows you have her. He forced it out of his father.”
“Interesting,” Lucas said after a moment, his tone thoughtful. “And what exactly do you expect me to do about it?”
“I’m warning you,” Lina said firmly. “He’s obsessed with her. He’ll stop at nothing to get her back.”
Lucas laughed again, the sound sharper this time. “Good. Let him come. I’ll be ready.”
“Lucas,” Lina said, her voice pleading now. “You don’t understand. Damian isn’t the same person you knew. He’s unhinged. He fired a gun in the house tonight. He pointed it at me, at his father”
“Did he?” Lucas interrupted, his tone laced with amusement. “Sounds like he’s finally growing a spine.”
“This isn’t a joke!” Lina snapped. “Damian is dangerous. If you don’t take this seriously, he’ll destroy everything.”
*********Lucas’s Plan*******
There was a long pause on the other end of the line before Lucas spoke again, his voice calm and calculating. “Do you know why I have Aurora, Lina?”
Lina blinked, caught off guard by the question. “What?”
“I have her because your dear husband couldn’t handle her,” Lucas said smoothly. “Because Damian is weak. He let his emotions cloud his judgment, and now he’s lashing out because he can’t accept the consequences of his own failure.”
“That’s not”
“Save it,” Lucas interrupted, his tone sharp. “Damian isn’t a threat to me. He’s desperate, and desperate men make mistakes. Let him come. I’ll deal with him.”
“You don’t know what he’s capable of,” Lina warned.
“And you don’t know what I’m capable of,” Lucas shot back, his voice cold. “If Damian thinks he can take Aurora from me, he’s in for a rude awakening.”
Lina swallowed hard, her hand tightening on the phone. “Lucas, listen to me. Damian won’t stop until he gets what he wants. You need to end this before it goes too far.”
“I’ll end it when I’m ready,” Lucas said calmly. “Not a moment before.”
*******Lina’s Fear********
Lina paced the room, her frustration mounting. “You’re underestimating him,” she said. “He’s not the same man he was before. He’s…”
“Unstable?” Lucas finished, his tone dripping with mockery. “Good. That’ll make this more fun.”
“This isn’t a game, Lucas!” Lina shouted. “Damian is dangerous!”
“And so am I,” Lucas said softly, his voice carrying a dangerous edge.
Lina stopped pacing, her breath catching. “What are you going to do?” she asked hesitantly.
“Whatever I need to,” Lucas replied. “Damian will come for her, and when he does, he’ll learn that she belongs to me now. There’s nothing he can do to change that.”
Lina’s hands trembled as she held the phone. “And Aurora?” she asked quietly.
Lucas chuckled darkly. “Aurora will stay right where she is. She’s mine, Lina. Damian can come for her all he wants, but I’ll make sure he regrets it.”
********The Warning Ends**********
Lina closed her eyes, her chest tightening with a mix of fear and frustration. “You’re playing a dangerous game, Lucas,” she said softly.
“Danger is what I do best,” Lucas said smoothly. “Now, if you’re done wasting my time, I have preparations to make.”
Before Lina could respond, the line went dead. She stared at the phone in her hand, her mind racing.
Damian was on his way to Lucas, and she had no idea how it would end. All she knew was that things were spiraling out of control faster than she could handle.
******Lucas’s Preparations*******
On the other end of the line, Lucas set the phone down and leaned back in his chair. His lips curled into a slow, cruel smile as he thought about what was to come.
“Damian,” he said softly, his tone dripping with amusement. “You’ve made your move. Now it’s my turn.”
He stood, walking to the door and calling for one of his men. A tall, broad-shouldered guard appeared moments later, his expression neutral.
“Double the security,” Lucas ordered. “Damian will be here soon.”
The guard nodded. “And Aurora?”
Lucas’s smile widened. “Leave her where she is,” he said. “Let Damian come. Let him see what he’s lost.”
The guard hesitated. “Do you want her… prepared?”
Lucas tilted his head, considering the question. “No,” he said after a moment. “Let her stay as she is. The more pathetic she looks, the more it will hurt him.”
The guard nodded and left, leaving Lucas alone in the room.
Lucas poured himself a glass of whiskey, swirling the amber liquid as he stared out the window. The thought of Damian storming into his territory, desperate and furious, filled him with a dark sense of satisfaction.
“Come, Damian,” he murmured to himself. “Let’s see if you’re ready to play my game.”
