Damian’s eyes burned with fury as he took a step toward Lina, his hands balled into tight fists at his sides. His heart was pounding in his chest, his thoughts spinning. He had known something was wrong, but hearing Lina’s words made the air feel thick, suffocating. His body moved on instinct, and before Lina could take another breath, Damian grabbed her by the neck, lifting her off the ground and slamming her against the wall.
Her breath hitched, her eyes wide with shock, but she didn’t struggle as much as he expected. Maybe she was too surprised to react, or maybe she was finally realizing just how dangerous this situation had become.
Damian leaned in close, his face inches from hers, his voice low and dangerous. “If anything happens to Aurora, Lina,” he growled, tightening his grip around her neck, “I swear to God, I will make you regret it.”
Lina’s hands clawed at his wrist, trying to loosen his grip, but her efforts were weak. Her lips trembled as she tried to speak, her voice barely audible. “You… you wouldn’t…”
Damian’s gaze was like ice, cold and filled with an anger he couldn’t control. He leaned in even closer, his breath hot on her face. “Don’t test me,” he said through gritted teeth. “I’ll hesitate to end you, but not for long. You hurt her, and I will make sure you pay for it.”
Lina’s eyes flickered with fear now, a flicker of something real breaking through her mask. But she was stubborn, and her pride wouldn’t let her admit defeat. Her voice came out shaky, but there was still that smirk, still that arrogance lingering in her tone.
“You can’t touch me,” she spat, still fighting against his grip. “You need me. You’ll never get away with it. Your father”
Damian’s hand shot up, tightening around her throat, cutting off her words. “Don’t talk about my father,” he snarled. “You’re the one who’s going to end up with nothing if you don’t tell me where she is.”
Lina struggled to breathe, her hands now weakly pushing against his arm, her face turning red. “She… she’s gone, Damian. She’s already out of your life.”
Damian’s heart skipped a beat, and for a moment, he almost believed her. He could feel his pulse pounding in his ears, the tightness in his chest growing. His grip loosened slightly, but only enough for Lina to gasp for air. Her eyes gleamed with satisfaction, but it wasn’t enough to mask the fear lurking beneath.
“What do you mean, gone?” Damian demanded, his voice shaking with barely contained rage. “Where did you send her?”
Lina’s grin widened, a cruel glint flashing in her eyes. “You really think she matters that much to me, huh? She was just a pawn. And now, she’s out of the picture for good. Don’t worry about her, Damian. She’ll never bother you again.”
Damian’s mind raced as her words hit him like a blow. His body felt like it was on fire, the anger surging through him as he realized how far Lina had gone to get rid of Aurora. He could barely think, just act. He slammed Lina harder against the wall, her head cracking against it with a sickening thud.
“Tell me where she is!” he shouted, his voice breaking the silence of the room. “NOW!”
Lina’s eyes watered, and her face twisted in pain, but there was no mercy in Damian’s expression. He was beyond caring. His mind was only on one thing-finding Aurora.
She finally managed to speak, her voice barely above a whisper. “She’s in a warehouse. Outside the city. You’ll never find her in time.”
Damian’s heart stopped for a moment, and the words echoed in his head. A warehouse? Outside the city? He didn’t hesitate, didn’t think twice. He released her neck with a sharp shove, and Lina collapsed onto the floor, gasping for breath.
