Lily stormed into her room, slamming the door so hard it rattled in its frame. Her entire body shook with fury as she thought about Aurora’s words, echoing over and over in her mind. How dare she? How dare Aurora stand up to her like that, speaking to her as if she were nothing? As if she-Lily, the most trusted and loyal of Damian’s companions-could simply be replaced!
With a frustrated cry, Lily grabbed a delicate vase from her bedside table and hurled it across the room. It shattered against the wall, scattering pieces of porcelain all over the floor. She didn’t care. Let it break. It was nothing compared to the way her pride was shattered by Aurora’s boldness.
Lily began pacing, her footsteps echoing off the walls. The rage inside her was building, hotter and hotter, until she felt like she would burst. Aurora had humiliated her in front of everyone. The whispers in the halls, the shocked looks on the faces of the other servants, Miss Catherine’s horrified expression-she could still see it all so clearly.
Another burst of anger shot through her, and she picked up a glass bottle from her dresser, throwing it with all her strength. It shattered, spilling liquid across the floor. The room was becoming a mess, but Lily didn’t care. All she cared about was the burning need to make Aurora pay.
She clenched her fists, trying to steady her breathing, but the images wouldn’t stop. Aurora’s smug face, the way she’d spoken so confidently, as if she believed she was worthy of Damian’s attention. As if she could just walk into Lily’s world and take her place.
Lily gritted her teeth. “She thinks she’s something special,” she muttered to herself. “She thinks she can just walk in here and take what’s mine.”
Her mind raced, filled with thoughts of revenge, of making Aurora regret every word she had spoken. She would not let this slide. Aurora was nothing-a foolish girl who had no idea how things worked in this house. Damian’s world was dangerous, and Lily had been by his side far longer than Aurora could ever understand. She knew things Aurora didn’t. She understood him in a way Aurora never would.
Grabbing a small mirror from her desk, Lily looked at her reflection, seeing the fury in her own eyes. “I’ve been here since the beginning,” she whispered to herself. “I’ve given everything for him. I won’t let some nobody take what I’ve earned.”
She tightened her grip on the mirror, her fingers shaking with anger. In a sudden surge of rage, she threw the mirror to the ground, watching as it shattered into a hundred pieces. Her reflection lay broken on the floor, just like the calm she once had.
Lily took a deep breath, her shoulders rising and falling as she tried to regain control. She couldn’t let her emotions get the best of her. If she wanted to keep her place by Damian’s side, she needed to be smart. Losing her temper wouldn’t help her; she had to think of a plan, a way to put Aurora back in her place without exposing her own jealousy.
But one thing was clear-she wouldn’t let Aurora get away with this. No one dared to challenge her like that and simply walk away. She would show Aurora who was truly in charge here, who held Damian’s favor.
With her mind made up, Lily straightened, brushing a stray lock of hair from her face. She had to be careful, but she would find a way to make Aurora regret every word she had spoken. Aurora would learn, one way or another, that crossing her was a mistake.
Lily’s eyes narrowed, her lips twisting into a cold smile. “You’re not the only one who can play games, Aurora,” she whispered to herself. “You’ll wish you never stepped foot in this house.”
As she stood there, surrounded by the broken pieces of her room, Lily felt a strange sense of satisfaction. Her anger had found a purpose, a focus. Aurora had sparked something in her, and she would make sure that fire burned brighter than ever.
For now, she would wait and watch. But her mind was already working, already forming a plan. Aurora wouldn’t see it coming. And when the time was right, she would strike back.
