“After they finish talking, I’ll explain. No need to waste words,” Darnell calmly replied.
Darnell already understood that Nick’s intention today was to use public opinion to ruin his reputation and make it impossible for him to stay at Spectrum Pharmaceuticals.
And then, they would physically retaliate against him, seeking revenge on both his mind and body. It was a cunning plan.
But Darnell didn’t think Nick would come up with such a method.
Bullying the weak with strength was Nick’s style. Playing these underhanded tricks was completely out of character.
Thinking about Brian’s collusion with Nick, he could somewhat guess that it had something to do with Roberto.
With this in mind, Darnell smiled radiantly. He leisurely drank his tea, allowing Nick and the others to accuse him.
Roberto shouted at the right moment, “Darnell, you’ve brought shame upon Spectrum Pharmaceuticals.”
“Miss Fanshaw, I suggest we immediately fire him and hand him over to the police for accountability.”
He even threatened Areli, “Otherwise, headquarters will be very disappointed in us.”
Areli remained silent, only looking at Darnell.
“Severe concussion. Grade 3 fracture in the left leg. Soft tissue damage in the back…”
At that moment, Darnell walked up with a cup of tea, ignoring the accusations from everyone. He took two steps forward and looked at the diagnosis report on the plastic board with great interest. “The lower leg suffered a Grade 4 impact, making it impossible to stand and affecting walking. It’s really impressive that the doctor wrote such a serious examination result.”
He looked at Nick and the others with a smile. “It must have cost quite a bit of money, right?”
“Not much though…” Nick subconsciously squeezed out a few words but quickly realized his mistake and shouted in anger, “Can we not spend money? My friends have been beaten so badly by you. The daily treatment fees, medical expenses, and nursing fees amount to several thousand dollars. You bastard! Do you think you can do whatever you want just because you have some connections?”
“That’s right. He’s too lawless.”
A few lackeys chimed in, “Injuring people and robbing money, do you still have the nerve to be one of Spectrum Pharmaceuticals? You’re nothing more than a gangster.”
Roberto and Eliezer also slammed the table angrily. “Darnell, if you don’t apologize and settle this matter peacefully, you’re tarnishing the reputation of the company! It’s not fair to the injured party.”
“You’ve disappointed everyone.”
The six injured people behind them also groaned in pain at the right moment, causing chaos on the scene.
Seeing everyone accusing Darnell, Casey, Shayla, and Bailee were frustrated but helpless.
Darnell remained calm as ever, pulling Bailee aside to give her a few instructions and asking her to fetch something for him.
Bailee nodded lightly, showing no hesitation, and quietly slipped away.
Areli ignored Roberto and the others shouting, turning to Nick before asking with a cold voice, “Darnell is so despicable. Why don’t you call the police?”
“You brought the injured and the reporters here. This can’t just be about filing a complaint, can it?”
Areli was as sharp as ever.
“I will definitely call the police, but before that, I want to expose Darnell’s crimes to the public so that more people know about the actions of Spectrum Pharmaceuticals’ employees.”
“And since he’s one of your people, your company also has a responsibility to compensate us for the injuries.”
Nick spoke firmly, “Don’t think I’m trying to slander you. What your employees have done can easily be brought to light.”
As his words fell, his companions began to shout, with women calling for justice and men declaring their fight against the evil forces.
Among them were two teenagers who were crying out loudly in a coordinated effort, clearly having rehearsed their lines.
Darnell could tell at a glance that they must have practiced this beforehand.
At that moment, Shayla returned and handed a bag to Darnell.
As Darnell took the heavy bag, Areli’s expression suddenly turned icy. She slammed her hand on the table and shouted, “Everyone, be quiet!”
The moment the icy beauty lost her temper, the room fell silent.
Areli fixed her gaze on Nick. “You mentioned compensation from Spectrum Pharmaceuticals. Six broken legs in total. How much do you want?”
Nick was momentarily taken aback, not expecting Areli to pose such a question. He quickly scrambled to respond, “For emotional distress, medical expenses, cosmetic surgery, and long-term treatment, each person should receive at least a million.”
“This is just for the compensation from Spectrum Pharmaceuticals. Darnell’s compensation will be calculated separately.”
Roberto interjected, “Miss Fanshaw, what are you trying to do? You want the company to pay up? This is all Darnell’s own doing…”
“Shut up!”
Areli snapped back, then picked up a checkbook. In one swift motion, she wrote out twelve checks and handed them to Lillian to give to Nick.
“Twenty million. Two million for each of you.”
Areli casually tossed the pen on the table. “This is coming straight from my pocket. Not a cent from the company.”
Nick and his crew were stunned. “Two million each? Are you really giving us money?” They clearly didn’t expect Spectrum Pharmaceuticals to pay, let alone double the amount.
Roberto and Eliezer were equally bewildered, not expecting Areli to be willing to pay so much for Darnell.
“For a leg, you offered a million. I’m offering you two million for each of the six. Now, Darnell, go and break their other leg.”
Darnell was taken aback for a moment before bursting into laughter. “I’ll follow Miss Fanshaw’s orders!”
He really meant it. Darnell didn’t expect them to think the same thought.
As Areli’s words fell, the whole scene erupted into chaos again. Nick shouted anxiously, “You can’t do this!”
As the commotion escalated, Roberto stood up to intervene, but Darnell pulled out a fire axe from the bag, straightened his posture, and declared, “Anyone who doesn’t shut up, I’ll take them out.”
With a swing of the axe, he split a nearby chair in half.
The sheer force and intensity of his outburst left everyone momentarily stunned.
“Anyone who makes a sound, I’ll chop them in half.”
His threat effectively silenced Nick and the others, who had learned their lesson from previous encounters.
The axe gleamed ominously!
While Roberto was terrified of Darnell’s axe, he still slammed his hand on the table, trying to sound tough. “Darnell, what’s with your attitude?”
“Do you want to use this axe on someone? Call the police! Call the police!”
He tried to maintain his composure, but his body had already started to inch away from the seat, as if he was ready to bolt any second.
Eliezer pulled out his phone to call the police but hesitated. Instead, he instructed one of his men to make the call, not wanting to provoke Darnell into attacking him.
Darnell let out a cold laugh. “Call the police? They’ve already accepted two million from Miss Fanshaw. They’re still going to have to hand over another leg.”
Nick shuddered. “Don’t be impulsive.”
“You agreed to a million for a leg.”
Darnell suddenly smiled menacingly, sending chills down everyone’s spine, resembling a chainsaw-wielding maniac. “Once the payment is made, the delivery is expected.”
Areli slammed her hand on the table and shouted, “Darnell, take them out!”
“I’m on it!”
“Hahaha!”
When Nick and his group were shocked by their own voices, Darnell suddenly burst into laughter. He raised his fire axe high above his head and rushed towards the six people in wheelchairs.
The pitiful six individuals instantly jumped up from their wheelchairs and ran away…
Nick also scrambled out of the room while cursing angrily at Darnell, “Just wait!”
