Chapter 92
Dmitri
“Shoot them,” Enzo’s gruff voice resonated in the darkness and I lurched forward, falling flat on my stomach as more shots were fired above me.
Nikolai single-handedly cleared all the guards that came with Enzo and then the light flickered on. Dead bodies were littered around the room, some of them stacked upon each other like a pack of cards.
A deep pain-filled groan caught my attention and I found Enzo, holding onto one of his thighs, the same one I’d planned to explore my artistic carving skills on.
A black vest was flung at me and I put it on quickly. As I crossed over to him in slow and calculated strides, he cowered, his body trembling visibly while blood seeped out from the bullet wound on his thigh.
“How the mighty has crumbled,” I mocked him, reveling in his fear.
He flitted his gaze around and the light dimmed in his eyes when he realized that no one was coming to rescue him, just the same way he’d made me feel some moments ago.
“Please,” His lips quivered as the word left his mouth.
I flexed my wrist, scanning my skin for any bruises aside from the ones I got on my back. Then I crouched to the ground, picking up the same whip that was used against me. “What are you begging me for? Didn’t I tell you that you were going to regret it?”
“Forgive my greediness, Dmitri and I promise you’ll never see me again,” He dragged in a ragged breath.
My lips curled in a triumphant smirk as I stroked the whip on my palm. “That’s what they all say when they are close to their death. I warned you, Enzo, I even forgave your betrayal, but you ignored all that and requested for my safe house. What makes you think that you’ll receive mercy when you never showed it to me?”
He lowered his head, crawling backward in trepidation. “I have a family,” He mellowed.
“That’s none of my business, you crazy asshole. You completely forgot about the importance of family when you threatened to kill my brother just to have access to my safe house so I’m going to do the same. But before we get to that point, I’d like to know who told you about the safe house and don’t you dare lie to me,” I played with the strands of the whip.
He blinked rapidly, rubbing the back of his neck as he darted his gaze from Nikolai to Vladimir and finally to me.
“No one…” He trailed off, inclining his lashes to evade my piercing gaze.
“No one?” I scoffed and the strands of the whip connected with his injured thigh with a heavy force.
A loud grunt billowed from his throat and he clutched into his leg. “I’m saying the truth. I only found out by chance,” He twisted, his face red with pain.
His lies further irritated me and I whipped him again with more intensity. He couldn’t even help the scream that flew out from him.
“Are you going to keep lying?” I barked.
He shook his head. “It’s the truth, Dmitri,” Tears trickled down his cheeks and I snorted.
Who knew he was such a weak pussy?
“Lies, lies, lies,”
Another lash followed and this time he was backed up against the wall. “I’ll tell you… I’ll tell you,” He sniffed and wiped off the mucous pouring out from his nostrils.
“I’m listening,”
“Promise me that you won’t hurt my family,”
I shrugged, fiddling with the blood-stained whip. “You don’t have the power to make such a request because I can hurt them even if you decide to take the secret to your grave. However, I can be lenient on them if you come clean,”
He nodded vigorously. “It’s Anya. She told me about it,”
The whip fell off my hand and my heart stopped beating for a minute. “What did you just say?”
His lips parted but no words came out as a shot pierced the silence and he slumped on the ground, lifeless.
I spun around in my heels, my heart hammering furiously against my ribcage to find Nikolai’s gun aimed toward Enzo’s corpse.
Anger erupted within me like a volcano and I lurched at him, my fist sinking into his stomach. He staggered and clutched onto his sternum, sighing incessantly.
“Why did you shoot him?” The fervidness of my fury made the tone of my voice akin to a growl. “Do you have anything to do with that witch?”
“I’m sorry, I can’t tell you anything about it,” He replied cooly.
I ran my fingers through my hair in frustration and cast a glance at Enzo’s lifeless body once more then stormed out of the room to avoid acting on my intrusive thoughts and murdering Nikolai.

The house was uncomfortably lonely without him. It had already been a week since we confessed our feelings to each other and I couldn’t help but feel giddy with excitement all the time when I remembered how cuddled, loving on each other all day.
My hands trailed to my stomach and a silent giggle rocked in my throat as I caressed the evidence of our love.
Dmitri was in love with me as much as I was in love with him. The urge to scream burdened me.
“Mommy, you’re smiling at the wall,” Liora’s shrill voice tore into my train of thought.
“Am I?” I scratched my hair as a wide grin spread on my face. “I’m just very happy. That’s all,”
“Okay, since you’re very happy, can you bake me a cake, pretty please?” She pressed her lips and gave me the puppy face that I could never say no to.
“I can bake you a cake, but would you like to have a taste of what your father prepared this morning before going to work?” I offered instead.
A throbbing ache plagued my waist and I wondered if it was one of the numerous symptoms that accompanied the early trimester of pregnancy.
I couldn’t even ask my mother for help on the situation because I hadn’t told her about my pregnancy. She should have been the first to know, but for some reason, I was stalling.
“Not now, mama, just bake me a cake, please,” She clasped her palms together.
“Alright, I’ll make you one,” I patted her head and went to work, perhaps, I’d be able to show off my baking skills that I’d relegated to the background.
The vanilla cake came out fine, just the way I wanted it to be, fluffy and delicious. My mouth watered at the aroma of it and I cut out a piece for myself after I’d given some to Liora.
I helped her with her homework. She was still being homeschooled and luckily for us, she wasn’t complaining about the restriction placed on mingling with others.
As the minutes went by, I grew tired with exhaustion. The weight of my legs suddenly doubled and my eyelids craved to hug each other.
But that wasn’t the only thing that bothered me. I was freaking horny. My core tightened as I anticipated his return, but he’d already informed me that he wouldn’t be returning soon which stirred up glints of frustration.
A plan formed in my head and I trotted to the room speedily, heading to the exact place he kept the toys he used on me. I shut the door, twisting the key in the keyhole so that no one would intrude into my privacy.
I rummaged through his drawer and my fingers brushed against the rubber dildo. My pussy tingled with expectation as I stripped my panties off.
I made to close the drawer when I found a frame seated at the bottom with some other toys laid upon it.
Overwhelmed with curiosity, I brought it out and scrutinized the picture. Dmitri was seated on a sofa with a woman, his hands wrapped around her waist while he stared at her with a loving gaze.
A knot tightened in my stomach when I realized that the woman in the picture shared a striking resemblance with the woman I’d been bumping into at the weirdest moments.
Chiara.
Could she be one of Dmitri’s ex that he never talked about? I thought to myself as I dropped to the floor with tears rolling down my eyes.
