A very loud voice.
Everyone looked at him, and so did Paige. After two seconds of silence, she nodded, “Okay.”
“Daddy, let me down.”
Gabriel struggled to get out of Enrico’s arms, stood on the ground, and looked at Sheryl with big eyes, “Let’s do it.”
“You can name the candidate, so you won’t say that I’m cheating by asking someone to bully your grandson and granddaughter. You can even find someone from outside,”
Paige said coldly as she stood there.
“No need!”
Sheryl wiped away her tears and stood up from the ground. Her eyes were full of calculation. She had already decided that apart from the residents of the community she had brought along, there were also her card playing friends and her relatives. These people were all familiar with Steve and would know what kind of questions there would be. Anyway, Paige didn’t know them.
Thinking this, Sheryl cleared her throat and spoke in a drawn-out voice, “Then I’ll just choose at random!”
Saying this, Sheryl pointed at an old lady poker player in the crowd, “You, you be the teacher, just teach the two kids whatever, and then give a question.”
“Huh,” Enrico saw through it at a glance and sneered.
“Huh?” The poker player froze, pointed at herself, and looked confused. She only knows how to play cards, so how would she come up with any questions.
Sheryl frantically winked at her, and the card player reacted, “Oh, oh, I know how to play cards, so I’ll come up with something related to cards.”
Saying this, the card player took out a pair of cards that she always carried with her from her pocket. They were different from ordinary cards in that they were covered in all kinds of flowers.
Her granddaughter always likes to touch the cards when she watches her play, so in order not to corrupt the child, she specially ordered a pair of these flower cards so that the child can also get to know flowers while playing.
She and Sheryl are card friends, and Steve has seen this deck of cards many times, so he can recognize what flowers they are at a glance.
“Look, there are all kinds of flowers on them. I’ll teach you to recognize them. Later, when I test you, I’ll cover up most of the cards, leaving just a little bit showing. Whoever can name the flower first wins, okay?” the card friend said standing there.
Steve has been playing this game for a long time, and Sheryl is confident, answering for her grandson, “Okay!”
Steve stood there, feeling sick. He had eaten too much and had just cried too hard. His stomach was in turmoil and he felt like vomiting, but he couldn’t.
Sheryl was oblivious.
“Okay,” Gabriel agreed.
Enrico squatted down and placed a big hand on his son’s head. His eyes were deep. “Just compare, my Enrico’s son is naturally smart.”
“I will definitely win!” Gabriel clenched his little fists and said forcefully, his little face very serious.
He must win, and no one can say his daddy or mommy!
“Then let’s begin!”
Sheryl couldn’t wait to win against Paige’s family.
The little girl next to Monteo looked at Steve, who was suffering, frowned, and took something out of her pocket that looked like candy and handed it over.
“Pop!”
Sheryl knocked her hand away, “What are you doing? You want to harm my grandson!”
Monteo frowned.
“You even hit a child?” Paige looked over unhappily.
“It’s okay, sister.”
The little girl looked at her, covered her red hand, and silently stood behind Monteo.
The big competition turned into a competition between the two children. At the moment, the live broadcast did not stop, and the number of people in the broadcast room had already been overcrowded. This competition instantly became a hot search.
Enrico and Paige actually already have a son.
Enrico was accused of rigging the competition.
All kinds of words and phrases were fermenting online, but no one at the scene paid any attention to the internet, everyone was keeping their eyes on the competition.
Two desks were placed in the center, and Sheryl’s poker friends stood there and took out the cards to start teaching the two children one by one.
Afraid that her grandson couldn’t see clearly, Sheryl pushed Steve forward and stood in front of Gabriel.
Gabriel stood to the side, his face no longer the lazy look it had before, staring at the flower cards with exceptional concentration. Each card had the name of a flower on it, and there were many different names, some of which sounded difficult to pronounce.
After being told twice, Gabriel reached out, “Can I touch the cards?”
“Yes, but don’t say that Steve bullied me later,” Sheryl said first.
The card player handed the flower cards to Gabriel, who stood there looking at them one by one. For each card he looked at, the card player said the name of a flower.
He didn’t turn over the cards quickly, and for a few cards he waited a long time before turning over the next one.
Monteo stood in the crowd watching Gabriel, his gaze full of curiosity.
Everyone at the scene wanted to know if Gabriel was truly gifted, including him.
The little girl with twin ponytails took his hand and asked in a low voice, “Great-grandpa, can this gray-eyed younger brother win?”
On hearing this, Monteo smiled and said, “I don’t know, let’s see.”
The little girl didn’t ask again.
After Gabriel had finished looking at the cards, he handed them to Steve, who took them and looked at them again. The card player just assumed that this was the first time he had taught Steve and said it again.
“Do you still need to look again?” the card player asked.
“I don’t need to,” Gabriel said.
“What an arrogant brat,” Sheryl sneered, ‘Steve, we’re not going to watch either, don’t say it’s not fair later.’
The competition began just like that. The card player stood there, took out a card, and only revealed one seventh of the flower.
Gabriel moved his lips, and Steve excitedly shouted, ‘Hibiscus.’
He turned over his hand, and indeed it was a hibiscus.
There was a hush from those who didn’t know the truth, it seemed that the children from The Gustin family’s villa really weren’t as good as everyone else.
Sheryl was even more excited, “Look, look, I told you, my little grandson is really smart.”
“…”
Paige silently looked at Gabriel, who stood quietly, his expression on his little face unchanged, not affected by the boos around him.
Her son was very steady and generous in this regard.
She was very gratified.
The competition was to compare ten cards, and the card player quickly got the second card. This time, Gabriel answered faster, “Yellow Chrysanthemum.”
“Then I’ll make it harder.”
The opponent began to cover the flower card more, only revealing a little bit of it, and even the petals were incomplete.
Gabriel answered the third and fourth questions quickly.
“Marigold.”
“Daisy.”
These three questions were all about the Asteraceae family, and the colors were similar. It was difficult to recognize them when only a corner of the picture card was revealed.
While Steve was still identifying them, Gabriel had already answered.
There was an uproar in the room.
That was incredibly fast, and many of the adults there didn’t recognize it.
“I see.”
Monteo smiled meaningfully as he ran his fingers through the few sparse white hairs on his chin.
“What do you see?” The little girl looked at him in puzzlement.
“He wasn’t just touching the cards to imprint them on his mind, he had already noticed that some of the flowers were too similar, so he was thinking about how to tell them apart at first glance.”
Monteo’s voice was neither loud nor soft, and many people around him heard it and suddenly understood.
So that’s how it is.
This kid is amazing. It’s hard enough to remember the cards, but he even knows where the difficult part of the assessment will be and knows to think about the solution in advance.
