Contracted to the wrong Alpha
Chapter 56
Lilia’s pov
The next day, I was in the car journeying to hell. Jerry helped me pack some stuff and I couldn’t stop blabbing how much I was going to miss him. All he did was smile and tell me that I was going to be back, well…that’s if only I’ll be back alive.
I didn’t see Lex in the morning and I was surprised at how disappointed I could be. I was looking forward to seeing his pretty face, raven hair, and his gold eyes. Last night’s kiss flooded my head again and I released a shaky breath pushing it to the back of my mind while I looked at the buzzing streets with a lot of activities, flashy cars, and the peak of its horizon sneaking out to radiate it’s beauty on the skyscrapers buildings that we passed by and I have a long sad sigh.
Just when I thought I could be opportuned to explore, to live my dreams of being a manager, and carry out some activities effectively, I was pulled into a web of dark shit that was going to threaten my wolf and sanity for a while.
“If you keep spacing out like that, one would think that you’re thinking of committing suicide.” Raven’s deep voice jolted me out of my solitude and my head dropped sideways to stare at him, drinking his sexy dark view from where I was sitting. His hands were on the steering wheel , he was dressed in a black Tommy Hilfiger fabric shirt, and black leather pants, and his arms were strong and naked.
His ash eyes stared at me for a while before returning to the road and I pouted in sadness.
“Why won’t you stay huh? I would be honest with you Raven, I’m scared.”
I told him and he ruffled his hair and sighed, biting his lips as he spoke.
“You’ll be fine Luna, Jethro will take my place.”.
I shook my head in disapproval, “I don’t want Jethro. I want you but I can’t help but be selfish to let you stay in such a Pack right? I bet you also need some fresh air!” I rolled my eyes and fixed my eyes on the road. Midnight Shade wasn’t a pack for me, I could already imagine the sneers and disgusting stares in their faces.
“It’s not that bad Luna, If you look beyond the hatred and the Priestess’s advances, you will realize that it’s a beautiful place to stay. Be safe until we fix this mess, The Alpha would ensure your safety too so don’t even think about running.” He chuckled and turned to the left leaving the outskirts of the city and taking a straight path that led to the pack.
Lex told me he would try his best but his words have absolute power because of my status. He was telling me to fight and I’ve never been more ready than before. Those words coming from a man who knew my secret and was supposed to detest me only gave me an adrenaline rush to be brave and fight off Alveria and her advances.
I was going to do that, I won’t be that weak girl anymore and cry at any words thrown at me so Lee should better brace up herself for what’s about to happen.
The serenity and classiness of this place took my breath once again and I sighed. It was too big , classy, and creepingly quiet. We arrived at the Royal Mansion of the pack and the scent of Earthly and floral scent hit me. The air was fresh and the environment looked peaceful for a while. My heart thumped heavily and greatly when I stepped down and I shut my eye mask to be at ease, calming down my erratic breath and moving over to take my luggage at the car boot.
“Don’t do that Luna.” Raven scolded and beat me to it instantly, getting ahead of me and grabbing the Dior box that contained a few of my items.
Thank goodness for the gate that hit the mansion because I didn’t know how I was going to take the weird stares people would have given to me just like what women were doing right now. I couldn’t tell if they had a sneer, smirk, or an awe from their reactions but I just smiled at them and followed Raven inside.
The living room was aesthetic, wide, and well furnished with curtains that gold hung high, two large pillars in the middle, and an array of little lights at every corner that sparkled to give the room a warm glow. Everyone bowed at the sight of Raven extending the respect to me and Lee sighed outwardly.
“They are all fake Lilia, the smiles, stares, and greetings. They want us dead, they want me dead and I can feel it. ” Lee commented and I bit my inner cheeks to keep me from gasping out of nervousness.
I was made to sit down, and served an orange juice that I eyed with contempt but with Raven’s approval, I drank it in one gulp and asked for more.
“Now who the hell are we having here?” A voice echoed, making me tear my gaze from my mobile phone to a tall stout guy. His hair was long, it cascaded down his shoulders and gave Raven a handshake who took it and smirked.
“My Beta who is never available. At times, I get jealous of you, for real because I don’t understand why the Alpha would be obsessed with you over there and tossed me aside as some used leftover flour to deal with the affairs of the pack here alone.”
His Muscle flexed with every movement he made and a map of a beautiful drawing tattoo was Imprinted on his arm.
“Shut the fuck up Jethro, you would flee if you know what’s going on over there. Take care of Luna, till this bullshit is over.” Raven said, referring to me as if I’m some six-year-old child waiting to be pampered and I rolled my eyes at that.
“I’m Jethro Luna, it’s nice to meet you.” He reached for a handshake and bowed, I reached out to it and smiled back at him but deep down I couldn’t help but feel that uneasy feeling in my stomach. I didn’t trust him, I was supposed to, but I found myself cringing at his presence or his looks. He looked beautiful, great, and had a warrior body but it was nothing compared to Raven…or Lex.
