Contracted to the wrong Alpha
Chapter 48
Lilia pov
A wave of hot embarrassment washed through me as I came down from the sweet sensation and dizziness that my body shook. I touched myself thinking about Lex, wishing he did things to me which was one of the least expected actions from me.
Groaning at my stupid actions, I facepalmed and dragged myself to take a cold shower, changing Into a silky nightie before drifting off to sleep.
For the next week, I avoided Lex like a plague as if he had poisonous radiation from his presence. By the time I notice his presence coming my way, I’ll look for an excuse to leave. The only time we were together was when we had our meals at the dining together with Raven whom I’ve grown more conversant with.
His scent and presence were everywhere, domineering, staring at me with eyes that depicted nothing but confusion. I
He must have wanted to ask me what was wrong but I’m glad he didn’t. I just don’t want to stay near a man whose presence made me annoyed and horny as hell.
It just didn’t make sense and I need to work on that if I’m going to spend the rest of my few days with him.
“I’ll come to the office tomorrow.” I blurted out to the men but was referring to Lex who raised his brows and stared at me blankly.
“I’m done with the research and I have a lot of proof that Lex enterprise was solely running non-loss all because of the dishonesty of the staff,” I said, taking a pause and biting my lips.
“If you can arrange a meeting tomorrow, I’ll present all the facts and documents to you tomorrow,” I said again and waited to hear a response from him but the room was silent, save for Raven’s movement of his cutlery. He ate beautifully with grace and style, taking careful glances from Lex to me as if he was waiting for a drama to unfold.
“You can’t even look at me in the eyes while saying that.”Lex’s deep voice, rich with velvet and silk echoed warmly in the room and I swallowed.
“I did.” I lied to myself and took the juice to drink with a gulp.
“My eyes were on you the entire fucking time flower? You were staring at Raven the whole time and not taking a glance at me.” He said with observation, his tone faltered in tiredness and I didn’t want to imagine what he was feeling at the moment. He looked disappointed, as I stabbed him or took something precious away from him which I didn’t know why it affected me so much.
“Oh…I didn’t notice” My voice came out as a whisper and he chuckled. A bitter one that made Lee perked up. I didn’t know why all these emotions were building up but Lex’s moodiness affected me in ways I can’t explain.
“Did I do something wrong again to make you mad?” He asked calmly, no, softly that Raven choked on his meal so badly and I passed the water to him.
“Thanks.” He told me and gulped it gracefully, dropping the cup before returning his gaze in a surprised manner.
“Lex, I ”
“Look at me when I’m speaking to you flower.” He growled, his eyes glinting this time around but it wasn’t gold. It was just an empty kind of color I couldn’t apprehend. His tone held displeasure but his face was one of the most beautiful features that made me sigh.
“You did nothing, why are you even bothered about It? You’re acting so weird.”
He rolled his tongue in his mouth and dropped the form, cocking his head to the side to stare at me.
“You think I’m acting weird? I know we are not besties but deliberately avoiding me could only mean that you’re up to something. I don’t want to know what it is but I think you should quit. It’s just Six months and it’s not forever. With this attitude of yours, how am I sure you won’t end up flopping in the meeting, just because of my presence?”
He ranted out in frustration and it was the most beautiful thing ever, seeing Lex looking fed up but my countenance changed when he reminded me of the duration I had left with him.
“Don’t dare go back on your words Lex, I won’t mess up. Besides this is for your good, you might be the President’s son to the country but the loss at which your company is running is a shame to your knowledge and personality. I will be your manager and that’s final.”
“Good. At Least, we are beginning to make progress. Let’s see what you got and”
Jerry came uninvited and bowed, I smiled at him but his countenance didn’t look like one who was ready to exchange pleasantries as his hands trembled while trying to address Lex.
“Alpha…” he called out and Raven craned his neck to look at him, Lex’s gaze was fixed on him the moment he interrupted him and his next words made my blood run cold.
“The Pack Priestess is here, with Ryker’s father. The former Alpha of the Green Howling pack. Should I let them in?” He asked him and bowed and my heart rate Increased from 5% to 100% beat rate. My knuckles whitened and my stomach churned in pain at the name mentioned, what made me feel scared was Ryker’s father who chose tonight of all night to visit.
“Let them in,” Lex ordered, he didn’t look disturbed neither did he carry an attitude that displayed nervousness. He looked super confident, his green shirt was perfectly hugging his skin, and his pose was so damn arrogant and nonchalant that it made me wonder if nothing could make him shift from his cold stone aura into a personality with emotions.
As if Raven was infected by Lex’s demeanor, he became stiff and blank but pretty under the chandelier lights.
I was the only one breathing erratically, twitching my jaw and squeezing my fingers tightly.
In less than seconds, Alveria walked in with a man. Middle-aged in his fifties, with well-trimmed beard with eyes that darkened at Lex’s sight. He was dressed in a brown suit as if Preparing for a conference but behind this smartness and beauty, I couldn’t miss the flicker of anger in his eyes the moment he stared at Ryker who sat there like a statue, unmovable and immobile.
“We already met at Midnight Shade Alveria, what’s this about?” He asked with a tone which depicted how pissed he was.
“I apologize Alpha but something very important came up. You happen to be in a foreign place but the Pack and your people aren’t safe.”
Lex’s eyes glowed gold and she swallowed, darting her gaze from him.
“What the fuck is Jethro doing in the pack?”
“He’s helpless as of now, the people of the Green Howling pack are already attacking silently and won’t stick to your conclusion of appeasing them.” She tried to explain to him but her tone was filled with arrogance, as if she controlled the room and Lex had no choice but to bow. ro. hee wore and demanded.
“Then let’s go for war, then. I made my demands clear. This is unnecessary, My dad is the President and the Parliament is watching when they see you barge into my shade when you’re rarely here. What if you’re been tapped or tracked and all they hear is sane humans mentioning weird places, don’t you think it’s going to have a great effect?”
“I can’t believe this is coming from a man who murdered my son in cold blood. You’re arrogant as they’ve said.” The man who walked in with Alveria, forced his words out as it seemed as if he was nonexistent and they were not ready to let him talk.
“I’m worse than who you think, Alpha Troy. Letting your people engage in such a risky act with the Midnight Shade is a very silly move and you should be aware of the consequences that come with that.”
Lex glared at him and the man scoffed. “I could feel the weight of his hatred for Lex through his glare and tone and all I could do was stare.
“You’re such a psychopath Alexander! Ryker didn’t deserve death.”
“Really? He didn’t deserve it by trying to fuck with my Luna? Do you fucking know what you just said to my face?” He growled, his golden eye blazing like fire and my throat went dry instantly.
“Just because you wield absolute power over me and my pack doesn’t mean that I will sit and watch this gruesome act towards my son. I will cut all ties and affiliations with Midnight Shade. My people went there to withdraw their pact with the pack and unless you fucking beg and appease the people of the Green Howling pack, Your Luna will still die by your hands, Alexander!”
He growled and for a moment, I saw a flicker of confusion washed over Lex.
He turned to Alveria whose face immediately suppressed a smirk that formed her face.
“What the fuck is he talking about?” He seethed.
“It’s about your Luna, she’s a rogue and we got that information from Raven.”
