Kira’s cold gaze locked onto Tahila’s, her lips parted slowly as if she was savoring the power in her words. Her eyes bore into Tahila’s and the crowd held its breath, every eye on the two women.
Before Tahila could react, Kira tightened her grip on Tahila’s fist, her fingers locking firmly around it and as Tahila tried to pull away, Kira held her fist tighter, her grip stronger than ever.
Unexpectedly, Kira then pushed Tahila off her with so much force that Tahila was sent flying to the other side of the field. Tahila’s body slammed into the ground, dirt kicked up around her as she skidded to a halt.
Kira got up slowly, placing one hand firmly on the ground before pushing herself up to her knees. Her other hand followed, steadying herself as she rose. Soon, her posture was straightened, her shoulders back and her chin lifted.
“Go, Luna!” Kira heard someone yell, their voice breaking through the noise of pack members talking, gasping, murmuring and so on.
Another gasped, “This has got to be the best fight ever!”
The shock and amazement rippled through the crowd, with many staring in disbelief. They had all thought that Tahila was going to be the winner but seeing Kira standing up on her feet now, it was only the beginning.
“I just wonder how this is going to end,” An elder whispered to another.
At the same time, Bryan and Aiden smirked proudly. Without a word, they raised their fists and bumped them together.
“Show her what you’re made of,” Aiden uttered while still smirking.
Kira raised her arm and wiped the blood from her nose and lips with her sleeve as she got ready. She brushed her sleeve across her face, smearing away the blood.
As she did that, she noticed that her nose was broken. Carefully, she pressed her fingers against her nose and wincing slightly, she inhaled deeply before giving it a quick, decisive push. Pop! A sharp crack echoed in her ears as the bone slid back into place.
“Snff,” she sniffed once, testing it and then wiggled her nose slightly to make sure it was well aligned.
Right after, her fingers reached up to her hair and she untied her hair, letting it fall messily and stick to her damp skin.
“Not bad,” she muttered as she ran her hands through it briefly before pulling it back up in a ponytail and securing it tightly.
Meanwhile, Tahila had gotten back on her feet, her face twisted with anger at her ego getting bruised. She wiped the dirt from her arms, her jaw clenched tightly, and her lips curled into a snarl as she immediately charged at Kira, her footsteps heavy and fast.
As she ran forward, her eyes locked on Kira, she threw a punch aimed directly at Kira’s face, but Kira shifted her weight slightly, tilting her head to the side.
Tahila’s fist sliced through the air, missing by mere inches. Surprised by the miss, she turned to face Kira.
“You could do better,” Kira stated and before Tahila knew it, Kira’s fist connected with her jaw in a loud, satisfying crack.
The impact sent Tahila stumbling backward, her feet scraping against the ground as she struggled to regain her footing.
“Too slow,” Kira intoned, disgust laced in her tone as she looked at Tahila while flexing her wrist.
With trembling fingers, Tahila touched her lower lip, finding it wet with blood. She winced a bit as she felt the sting of the fresh cut. Tahila gritted her teeth, the sharp sting only intensifying her anger as her lips curled back into a snarl, her eyes filled with rage as she turned her head to meet Kira’s gaze.
Before she could fully turn to face Kira, Kira launched a punch directly at Tahila’s midsection. The impact was hard and well aimed, catching Tahila by surprise.
Tahila could feel the strength in Kira’s punch as she stumbled yet again backward, clutching her stomach with both hands. Still, Tahila was determined not to give up, she quickly tried to retaliate with a punch, aiming at Kira’s face.
As she threw her arm forward, Kira dodged it with ease. In a swift, fluid motion, Kira turned her body to the side and kicked Tahila square in the face with the side of her leg-the kick snapping Tahila’s head to the side as it sent her crashing to the ground in a bloody heap.
As Tahila hit the ground, she quickly tried to scramble to her feet. “Just you wait,” she growled out, pain surging through her body as she tried to push herself back on her feet to fight. She was already feeling dizzy, her visions blurry, but she ignored it, trying very hard to stabilize herself.
She gripped the dirt beneath her and finally pushed herself up from the ground, her breathing ragged. She faced Kira again, blood trickling from her mouth as she forced herself upright.
Without giving Tahila a moment’s respite, Kira charged forward again, closing the distance between them in seconds. Tahila attempted to raise her guard, but Kira was too fast.
Kira ran toward Tahila and executed a backflip, her leg sweeping through the air in a powerful arch as her foot connected squarely with Tahila’s jaw. Crack!
The kick was brutal and Tahila’s head snapped back as Kira landed with one knee on the ground and one hand braced on the dirt.
Kira blew a puff of air through her mouth, which caused the hair that had fallen in front of her face to move away as she watched Tahila’s body drop to the ground backwards with a heavy thud.
A gasp escaped the crowd, then cheers and hails followed, breaking the silence that had once fallen on them. People began to murmur, clearly impressed with Kira’s unexpected strength and technique, and how things quickly shifted.
Aiden and Bryan smirked, their chests swelling with pride as they watched Kira. They always had faith and believed in her but seeing her perform this way still surprised them.
Chorusing together, Bryan and Aiden said, “That’s our girl.”
