Monica’s POV
This day was a nice day and I was glad to be part of it. I looked around and the kids were all busy with Nicholas. He carried them each in both arms, plastering kisses on their faces.
From where I stood, I could hear Macy and Mason giggling and I felt a sudden huge joy fill my heart. Other kids who were invited all moved around playing and running about.
The atmosphere was filled with laughter, smiles, and happiness. This was indeed a perfect day for me. I was glad to be alive to witness this day.
I walked towards Nicholas and Mason said Something that made me pause on my track, staring at him frozen on the spot “What did you say?” I asked again, trying to be certain I heard him correctly
“Mama” Mason said again, giggling and Nicholas smiled, kissing him hard on his small cheeks with happiness in his eyes.
“He said his first word and he called you mama,” Nicholas said, his voice laced with excitement and I walked closer to him and took Mason from him.
Tears gathered in my eyes as I looked at Mason who just stared at me, his perfect white teeth on display “I love you” I uttered smiling at him and he seemed like he was shy because immediately I said that, he giggled one more time and buried his head on my shoulder and I could no longer see his face.
I looked over at Macy who was laughing hard because of the funny face Nicholas was giving her.
This scene made me smile a lot and I was always going to be grateful to life for giving me a chance to be a mother to my kids and making me feel complete with my family.
Now all I had to do was to be happy. I didn’t have to worry about anyone coming for my life or anything in my Brain.
“Papa” Macy instantly uttered as Nicholas and I stared at each other in shock. We weren’t expecting the kids to say these words today.
“She called me Papa” Nicholas uttered, a huge grin on his face as he raised Macy in the air and spineed around making her giggle but soon enough, that giggling turned into tears and Nicholas had to stop spinning. “Why is she crying? We were just playing some seconds ago” Nicholas asked, confusion etched on his face.
“She is scared honey. You were spinning too much” I said and he held Macy tightly and placed her gently on his shoulder
“I’m sorry cupcake,” he said, patting her gently on her back.
“Hello Mrs. Monica,” someone said behind me, and with Mason still in my arms, I turned around gently to see a kid who I recognized as one of the kids I told a story to when my water broke.
“Hi,” I said and he smiled.
“You’re very beautiful today Mrs Monica,” he said and I smiled shyly
“Thank you” I responded, shocked by his bold and confident approach. Kids these days were something else.
They always say what is on their mind without fear and sometimes without regard.
“Is Mr Nicholas the man who you said was your prince charming?” He asked, staring behind me and I knew he was looking at Nicholas
“Yes sweetie” I replied and he smiled.
“He is very lucky to have a beautiful woman by his side. I hope to also find a princess very soon so I can get married” he said and I stared at him in shock.
“Get married? You want to get married?” I asked, staring at him with an amused look.
“Yes, I want to get married. I’m now big enough to have a princess” he said and I just laughed slightly.
“If you do find a princess to marry, how will you take care of her?” I asked and his response made me burst out laughing.
“My father always gives me a monthly allowance and it is never exhausted before the end of the month so I will always take from my monthly allowance to take care of her”
“So you think you’re old enough to have a wife?” I asked and he nodded his head with a grin on his face. “How old are you exactly?”
“I’m seven,” he said and I nodded in agreement. I had a feeling that he was around six or seven and I wasn’t far from the truth.
“John you’re still too young to get married but if you can focus on your studies and go to college and then graduate, you might find a princess but for now, you’re forbidden to speak about marriage,” I said and he looked at me sadly
“But I’m no longer little again. I have my money and I can’t take care of my wife if I get married”
“It’s not your money John. It’s your dad’s money so why don’t you go to school, work hard then have your own money? If you had your own money by then, you would find a beautiful princess and get married to her. Doesn’t that sound nice?” I asked and a grin slowly appeared on his face.
“Yes, Mrs Monica. You’re right. I’ve to have my own money first before I find a princess. Thank you Mrs Monica” he uttered excitedly before running off.
I looked around and realized that the party was gradually ending. The kids had reduced and that meant that some of them had started going back home with their parents.
A lot of Nicholas workers brought nice wrapped gifts for Mason and Macy. They dropped it off and then talked to him before leaving with their kids.
“Finally the long-awaited day is here and is gone so soon,” Fiona said, standing beside me with Hazel in her arms.
“I’m going to sleep for two days straight without waking up,” I said, sighing in relief.
“Two days straight?” Fiona asked, staring at me in shock “Is that a coma already?” Fiona asked and I just laughed slightly.
“I’m exhausted and I need the rest. Thank you for the cake you brought today. It tasted very nice and delicious. Everyone complimented it. I’m so grateful” I said, thanking her for the cake.
She handled all the pastries for the party and didn’t ask for money. She did everything with her money.
I looked around again and I was once again grateful for the people that surrounded me.
They were all amazing people with good hearts and I was glad to have them in my life.
