Upon witnessing Darnell knock out her godmother, Lillian instinctively exclaimed, “Darnell, what are you doing?”
“She was trying to help by driving those people away. Why did you knock her out?” she asked.
She wanted to call a doctor to check on her, but Darnell stopped Lillian and looked at her sincerely. “Lillian, trust me. I won’t harm her.”
He held up a finger. “Give me ten minutes, and I will heal her injured back.”
Lillian fell silent suddenly. For some reason, she believed this man.
She squeezed out a sentence from her lips. “I trust you.”
With Lillian’s trust, Darnell immediately fetched gloves, rubbing alcohol, and some anti-inflammatory medicine. In the meantime, he casually said, “Lillian, time is running out. Help me remove her cast.”
Lillian paused for a moment, then instinctively stepped forward and skillfully removed all the casts from Noemi’s body.
As soon as the cast was removed, they quickly saw the dark purple flesh, indicating that the landlady had suffered severe injuries.
Without waiting for her to rest, Darnell gave another instruction. “Cleanse her wounds with rubbing alcohol.”
Lillian glanced over and picked up the alcohol to clean the wounds. Her technique was skilled, and within a minute, the preliminary work was done.
Darnell put on gloves and said, “Help me press on her lumbar acupoint to keep her blood circulation going.”
Lillian instinctively reached for the depression below the fourth lumbar spinous process but quickly withdrew her hand before touching it. “Where is the lumbar acupoint?”
She blinked her eyes, looking both beautiful and confused.
“Oh, I forgot. I mistook you for a nurse,” Darnell smiled. “How could you know about the lumbar acupoint?”
“Go get me a cup of water,” he said.
Darnell took Lillian’s place and used his fingers to prick the landlady several times before he added, “Keep the temperature at ten degrees.”
“Okay!”
While Lillian went to fetch water, Darnell took out two things from his pocket, a black medicine bottle and a black box.
He poured out a pill from the black bottle and lightly crushed it with his fingertips before putting it into the paper cup filled with water.
The pill dissolved in the water instantly, turning it pitch black like ink but emitting a medicinal fragrance.
If it weren’t for the need to help Noemi heal quickly, Darnell wouldn’t dare use this Cicada Serum. With only a hundred doses in existence, using one meant having one less.
The most frustrating part was that he couldn’t charge any consultation fee.
Lillian smelled the fragrance of medicine and became curious. She looked surprised and asked, “Darnell, what is this?”
“Treasure,” Darnell replied with a smile. He then opened the black box revealing three fine needles made of gold, silver, and black metal.
He took out the silver needle and sterilized it with alcohol before dipping it into the dark liquid. Like a straw, it absorbed a strand of black liquid.
As soon as the silver needle was filled with black liquid, Darnell took it out and lifted a corner of Noemi’s clothes around her waist.
His right hand suddenly moved forward and gently pierced into Noemi’s acupuncture point.
“Ah!” Seeing such a long needle being inserted, Lillian was shocked and almost screamed as if she could feel that pain herself.
But what surprised her was that Noemi seemed completely unaware. She didn’t move at all or even open her eyes.
The area where the needle was inserted didn’t feel any pain at all. Afterward, Lillian realized that Noemi had been knocked unconscious. How could she feel any pain?
After inserting the silver needle, Darnell carefully observed changes in Noemi’s skin while rubbing the needle in his hand.
The liquid slowly flowed in as Darnell extended his left hand to wear a disposable glove and pressed on Noemi’s injury for three minutes.
The silver needle was pierced seven times, each time absorbing the full dose of Cicada Serum.
After injecting the liquid from the seventh needle, Darnell removed it from Noemi’s body.
Then he poured half of the remaining medicine into her mouth without leaving a single drop. He even added some water afterward.
It took a full ten minutes before Darnell completely stopped.
“All right. Rest quietly for three days and avoid strenuous exercise. After three days, there should be no major issues,” he instructed Lillian. “She will probably wake up in about three minutes. I better leave now. Otherwise, she’ll curse my ancestors.”
Noemi must remember how he knocked her out.
He quickly packed up his things and threw his gloves into the trash can.
“I’ll take care of her,” Lillian said. She half-believed in Darnell’s treatment. Could he really heal someone with just these few moves? She felt dazed but still nodded.
“And I will explain everything to my godmother later.”
“Lillian, if she recovers well, tell her that I hope she lets those seven tenants continue living here.”
Darnell’s voice reached Lillian’s ears. “They’ve been through a lot. I’m worried they might take the wrong path if they face difficulties.”
“Don’t worry. I promise my godmother won’t drive them away. If she does kick them out, I’ll compensate them for all their losses.”
Darnell leaned closer to Lillian, intending to kiss her. “You’re such a kind girl. Come here. Let me give you a reward.”
Lillian pushed Darnell away and gave him an exasperated look. “Scram!”
Darnell held her hand and kissed it before running away as fast as he could to avoid being attacked by the awakened landlady.
“Damn it!”
Almost as soon as Darnell entered the elevator, an angry roar resounded, startlingly loud. Noemi opened her eyes wide while clutching her neck and shouting, “Darnell, you bastard! Get out here!”
“I’ll smash your head!”
“Lillian! Where is he?”
Lillian’s face lit up with joy as she shouted back at her godmother, “Noemi! You can sit up now!”
Noemi blinked in surprise as she looked at herself, regaining some agility. “Oh? Yes! I can sit up now! It doesn’t seem painful anymore.”
She was pleasantly surprised that after fainting for a while, her injuries had improved significantly.
Then she became angry again. “Where did that brat go? Tell him to get out here!”
Lillian was overjoyed. Darnell was truly amazing! With just a few moves, he managed to heal her godmother!
She decided to treat Darnell to dinner tomorrow.
Lillian stepped forward and grabbed Noemi’s hand. “Godmother, he left after treating you. He was afraid you would beat him up.”
“I’ll call a doctor later to check your condition and see how much you’ve improved now. If there is significant progress, remember to thank him.”
Noemi snorted coldly, “Thank him? I’ll beat him to death!”
“Noemi! Where are you injured?”
Just then, someone gently pushed open the door, revealing an bald old man who walked in anxiously with an anxious expression on his face.
Behind him were more than ten medical staff members, including Dr. Tyson, along with nurses from various departments and several hospital leaders.
They followed respectfully behind the old man.
Lillian froze for a moment. She didn’t expect so many people to come in. Then she focused on the bald man and excitedly shouted, “Dr. Goodenough!”
It was Joseph Goodenough, the top doctor in Westergold.
