SASHA’S POV
A million questions spun in my head, each one colliding with the next, demanding answers. Who was this woman? How did she have a key to our house? But as the tension hung thick in the air, I bit my tongue.
Something told me that the answers I was looking for wouldn’t come from either of them, not now, anyway.
The woman, whoever she was, stood there with an air of entitlement that made my stomach churn. Her sharp eyes darted over me, taking in every detail of my appearance.
I felt stripped bare under her gaze, as if she was dissecting me piece by piece. And then, her lips curled into a condescending smirk.
“Well,” she said, her voice dripping with disdain. “This is… unexpected.” She paused, letting her words linger like venom.
“To think that someone like you managed to tie Sebastian down. I have to say, I’m a little disappointed.”
Her tone stung more than I cared to admit, and for a moment, I felt my fists clench at my sides.
I forced myself to stay calm, swallowing the retort that was burning on the tip of my tongue. I wasn’t about to give her the satisfaction of seeing me lose control.
“Get out,” Sebastian’s voice cut through the tension like a blade. He took a step forward, his tone low and firm. “Now.”
She didn’t flinch, not even a little. Instead, she tilted her head, her expression almost playful. “Really, Sebastian? That’s how you greet me after all this time?”
“How did you get in here?” His jaw was tight, the vein in his temple visibly pulsing.
Her smirk widened as she casually pulled a key from her pocket and held it up between her fingers.
“I still have a key, of course. I assumed you still had mine as well.” Her voice was sweet, almost saccharine, but her eyes flicked toward me with a deliberate challenge.
The sight of the key in her hand made my blood boil. This was our home, my home and yet here she was, standing in the middle of it as if she belonged.
Sebastian’s face darkened, his eyes narrowing. “Give me that,” he snapped, snatching the key from her hand before she could react.”
“The metallic jingle echoed through the room as he tightened his grip around it. “You don’t belong here. Not anymore.”
Her expression faltered for the first time, a flash of anger, maybe crossing her face. “Is that any way to treat me?” she asked, her tone sharper now. “After everything”
“Don’t,” Sebastian cut her off, his voice rising just enough to silence her.
“Don’t even try to go there. Whatever you think we had is over, and it has been for a long time. You’re not welcome here. Don’t ever step foot in my house again.”
His house. The words stung more than they should have, and I bit down on the inside of my cheek to keep from reacting.
The woman huffed, clearly unimpressed with his display of authority. But without another word, she turned on her heel and strode toward the door.
Her heels clicked against the floor, each step grating on my nerves until the sound finally stopped when she slammed the door behind her.
The silence that followed was suffocating. I felt Sebastian’s eyes on me, but I refused to meet his gaze. My arms were crossed tightly over my chest, my nails digging into my skin.
“Sasha,” he said softly, taking a cautious step toward me. “Are you okay?”
“Don’t,” I warned, my voice low but steady. I took a step back, putting more distance between us. “Don’t come any closer.”
He froze, his expression shifting to one of concern. “Sasha, please. Let me explain”
I held up a hand to stop him, finally lifting my eyes to meet him. “Explain what, Sebastian? That some woman,
some ex just waltzed into our house with a key you clearly never thought to take back?”
“That she feels comfortable enough to show up uninvited and talk to me like I don’t belong here?” My voice cracked despite my best efforts to stay composed.
“I didn’t know she still had it,” he said quickly, his tone almost pleading. “I swear, I”
“Save it.” I shook my head, my throat tightening with the weight of everything I wasn’t saying.
“You should have known. You should have done something about this a long time ago. But you didn’t, and now she’s here”
“She’s gone now,” he interrupted, his voice firm. “And she won’t be back. I made that clear.”
“That’s not the point, Sebastian!” I snapped, my frustration spilling over.
“The point is, she shouldn’t have been here in the first place. And the fact that she was…” I trailed off, my chest heaving as I struggled to find the right words.
“Sasha,” he tried again, his tone softer now. “Please, just let me”
“I don’t want to hear it,” I said, cutting him off. My voice was quieter now, but no less firm. “I can’t… I can’t do this right now. I need some space.”
His shoulders slumped, but he didn’t move any closer. “I’m sorry,” he said after a long pause. “I didn’t mean for this to happen. I”
“I said I don’t want to hear it,” I repeated, my voice shaking. I turned away from him, my hands trembling as I tried to steady my breathing.
“Just… just leave me alone, Sebastian. Please.”
For a moment, I thought he might argue, but then I heard him sigh,
a sound heavy with resignation. “Okay,” he said quietly. “If that’s what you want.”
It wasn’t, not really. But right now, I didn’t know how to deal with the whirlwind of emotions crashing over me. Anger. Hurt. Betrayal. They all swirled together, leaving me feeling raw and exposed.
I stayed where I was, staring at the empty space where the woman had stood, long after Sebastian had walked away.
The house felt different now, tainted somehow, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that things between us would never be the same.
